Went here for a work dinner. Was not really impressed. Service was great. Fingers steaks were okay. Calamari was great. Lobster bisque was solid. But my blackened chicken Alfredo was mid. Husband and I went because it was across the street from our hotel. Nice atmosphere and wait staff was excellent. He had a prime rib taco that came with chips and guacamole and said it was very good. I had fish and chips which I substituted for zucchini, fish was good and zucchini was great. read more

The seafood linguine was amazing as always but the waitstaff is going downhill. BUT don't let that discourage you from going to Jakers. if you love seafood try out the seafood linguine. it's filled with seafood and the portion easily lets you bring home leftovers for the next day. read more

Ended up with salmonella after eating one of their chicken meals. The next day, I had diarrhea and nausea. The diarrhea was so bad that I had to keep on changing clothes because of the gush of feces that only came out as liquid. I did take what was left over home and, after looking at the chicken, could see a sliver in the middle of a thicker piece that did not look done. Had to go to the Emergency Department where I was for 4 hours. My feces were tested and that was how it was determined that I had salmonella poisoning. This was one of my worst memories in my life. Food is good! I definitely think this is a steak and burgers joint. I got the blackened chicken alfredo, which was good for what it was, but next time I'll go for a burger. My husband and I have been going to Jakers for years both in Meridian and Twin Falls. Has always been a favorite. However, they have been raising prices consistently for a very long time, even before inflation. Recipes have also changed a few times as well. The Mac and cheese had changed at least 3 times. I had the trout and the lemon caper sauce was so overwhelming it was hard to taste anything else. I asked for rice as one of my sides and it was plain white rice, no seasoning, no additions, just plain sticky white rice. Was a little disappointed with that. Drinks are still good. Waitress was decent but not amazing. We will still come here but probably only for happy hour or something. read more

What happened to the Dragon Tails? We have been going to Jaker's for YEARS and I loved the hand breaded, real chicken, crispy tails and wonderful Hawaiian sauce. Never again after yesterday! Wish I took a picture but I was so shocked and embarrassed as we were there with first time friends. What I got was four flat, shake and bake style, from the freezer section, limp strips to $16dollars. Seriously disappointed. Every time I get near to Pine and Eagle roads. I stop in Jakers Bar and Grill. It has fantastic food and a great wait staff. Usually I have a cup of their lobster bisque along with whatever else I have because it is the BEST lobster bisque I have ever had! On my most recent visit, however, I ordered their coconut shrimp, a side salad which was a meal in itself and so fresh, and their onion rings -- no room for bisque! The shrimp were very large and their breading delicious. While onion rings are often more breading than onion, these were large slices of onion, so large they wouldn't fit into the sauce container! There is no way to check my gift card balance. I called the toll free number on the back of the card. It rang for what seemed like forever then said "this person does not have their voicemailbox set up". Called them a second time, it rang, then it hung up on me. On their website it only gives the option to purchase a gift card for yourself or for someone else. No where does it give you the option to check YOUR CURRENT gift card balance. Of course the restaurant doesn't open until later so I can't get this resolved quickly. Very upsetting as I was looking forward to having a meal there and im not sure if they need a reservation. Great place to eat. I got the meatloaf this time, and it was delicious! The potatoes were from a box and could have been thicker.... They were still good, but you could tell they weren't real. Saddening since we were in Idaho which is the home of potatoes. Server was fantastic and very attentive to our needs and ensured drinks were always full. This was a clean restaurant. We go to Jakers frequently, and we have never had bad service. Until this last visit, our server ignored our table. When we interacted, he was short, and you could tell he didn't want to help us. We observed the server visiting tables around us more frequently and making small talk with those guests. The food was great, as always. It was the service that prompted this review. read more

I live in North County San Diego, but I have relatives in Idaho and we visit from time to time. Ever since I discovered Jakers, we make a point of having a meal there during each visit. My most recent visit was last week; I didn't have time to write a review while I was visiting. Jakers has 6 locations, 4 in Idaho and 2 in Montana. I have eaten only at the Meridian (Idaho) location. I have consistently found Jakers Meridian to be flawless. The food is wonderful, the service excellent, the atmosphere just right, the location easy to get to. And of course (this being Idaho) the potatoes are out of this world. Their beef is sourced locally. The drinks are tasty and generous. The soups have been superb, even though I know that the lobsters in the lobster bisque weren't sourced locally. Native Idaho lobsters are in the same category as jackalopes. I've read all of the reviews here, and I see that some of them are pretty negative. I don't know what to say. I didn't experience any of that, and I didn't see anybody around me acting displeased or unhappy. Because I was the driver, I had only one drink, but others in my group explored the drink menu, and found everything they ordered to be just right. I'll be back again and again. So this is my now 2nd Jakers experience while living in Idaho. My 1st was in in Twin Falls and now more locally in the Boise area. We came last Thursday night and while we had to wait a little bit for a table it was well worth it. We stat at the var for about 30 mins and enjoyed an adult beverage while we waited. The bartenders were all over it and again showed what a great place this is on a Thursday night and being totally packed. Inside the restaurant the ambience is typical steakhouse vibe with lots of open seating with tables and nice pricey between. For dinner I had the ribeye cooked medium rare with a baked potato on the side. My wife had the prime rib also cooked medium rare with baked potato as well. I have to say and I have been to steak houses all across the USA this might be one of the better ribeyes and cut of meat I have had. I would put this up against any high end steak and while not cheap here either this ribeye is so flavorful and perfectly cooked every time. My mouth is watering just thinking about this steak while typing this review. Equally my wife loves prime rib and this one is something special. The smoke and seasonings on this is so delicious and one of the best she has had and I have tasted. She did say it was a 2nd place to mine that I cook at home but she could've just been making me feel good. LOL. Staff here from the front of house, bar and wait staff is on point and both times super knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be making this our regular steak house now and look forward to our next visit. read more

We went to Jakers last night - very disappointed. Our waitress was good and the issue was not her fault. We had reservations for 6:30, didn't get seated until almost 7, then it took over 1 hour for our food to be delivered. I finally had to tell the server we were leaving. Sitting for over an hours with a 3 year old, elderly parents was to fun... Most of the food once it came out was ok, dad's steak was good. One of the cheeseburgers looked like it came out of the microwave. They did give us 50% off our bill. However, I would rather pay full price for a good meal. My girlfriend and I dined at Jakers for the first time last weekend and I was very impressed. The calamari was crispy and sauce was a perfect pairing. The tenderloin filet steak was cooked perfectly to my liking. The mojito was mixed perfectly to where you know they didn't cheap out on the alcohol but still tasted delicious. And the lobster bisque was fantastic as well. If I could give 6 stars to our server I would! He was super friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. I believe his name was Isaac. The Almond Crusted Chicken - chicken breast rolled in toasted almonds and panko, pan-fried and served on a bed of jasmine rice, topped with béarnaise 26.95 was FANTASTIC! My boyfriend eats steak and I don't usually, but they accommodated both of us beautifully. He said his steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that the French Onion soup was 50% cheese, very little soup. Also, the soup was a salt bath. Kinda gross really. Tasted like bullion and steamed, not caramelized, onions. While in Meridian for work recently I had a free evening and decided to stop at Jakers at around 7:30pm on a Sunday night. It was reasonably busy, but there were open spots at the bar, so I sat at the end of it. I was promptly greeted by the female bartender who was nice (I wish I would have gotten her name). It is a bit of a darker place inside as they are going for a bit of a more intimate setting. There were sports games on the TV and I hung out for a while. I got a menu and the pricing of everything seemed reasonable. I opted for a burger and a Mountain Dew with no ice. The bartender recommendes a baked potato instead of fries, so I took her up on that. The menu referenced a house sauce of some kind and that always worries me, but as I put ketchup on burgers I figured I would roll the dice and leave it on the burger. The food was awesome! The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The baked potato was eaay to eat (wasn't too hard and didn't fall apart). The house sauce was a bit tangy, kind of like a southwestern ranch sort of flavor. It was good enough that no ketchup was needed, which I almost always put on any burger. The bartender checked on me often enough that I didn't feel forgotten and not so often that I had to be particlarly socialable. The cooks on the other side of the bar were having a good time and joking around with the rest of the staff. The burger, baked potato, and soda cost me about $16. That is a very fair price for great food. The atmosphere was fine, but it is a little dark. The staff seemed happy and it is nice to see people enjoying their jobs and their coworkers. I wish we had a Jakers in Eugene, OR. I'd go there. If I have another work trip to Meridian, I fully intend to head back to Jakers read more

It's been a couple weeks since this happened, but I was so upset at the time, I wanted to wait to make sure I wasn't writing in the heat of the moment. Anyway, hubby and I were mixing up our usual date night dinner. We usually stay in Nampa, but had experienced good food and exceptional service at Jakers in Meridian a couple months ago, so we thought we'd try it again. It was a Friday night, so hubby was hoping for clam chowder. Nope - discontinued. So he ordered lobster bisque instead, which he described as "meh". He also wanted Prime Rib. Oops. They were out. So he opted for the rib eye steak, prepared medium rare. The steak was the polar opposite of medium rare. It was so well done, it bordered on burned. I told my hubby to send it back, but he was starving and it took forever, so he ate it anyway. I could (and have) prepared a much better steak. Hubby indicated as much to me. At least the fish and chips I ordered were excellent. As far as the service, our waiter was very nice, but apparently incompetent. Despite writing things down, he managed to forget the rolls we requested until we asked again, forgot the raw horseradish and extra sour cream and butter hubby requested for his baked potato and didn't have a steak knife on the table. The only issue with my meal was the side salad I ordered. I specifically requested no cucumbers and Italian dressing. Waiter stated they didn't have Italian and starts listing what they do have. He mentioned balsamic vinaigrette, which, in essence, is Italian. I opted for that. Two minutes later, he's back asking if I said no tomatoes. As kindly as possible, I reminded him that I very much wanted tomatoes, but not cucumbers. To top it all off, they had chosen some weird mix of bad 80s music as their background noise. Also, once our meal was delivered (not by our original waiter, who was hot on his heels with a steak knife) we never saw another member of the waitstaff until long after we finished our meal and needed to pay the bill. I said something to the waiter, and he did apologize, but it was too little, too late. Needless to say, we won't be back. We'll stick with Indian Creek Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse, which are closer to home anyway. read more

We stopped going to Jakers a few years ago due to poor/slow service. Decided to try again. Food is good but not worth the still-poor service. Never did receive our requested drink refills - got an apology. He dropped off the check and said he would be right back and then we waited and waited ... finally had to ask the hostess if she could check us out however the server has to close the ticket. He came back and apologized again. Also heard him apologizing to the table behind us for not coming back to run their card. Noting that what was tying him up was that he was chatting with another customer - 10 minutes or more per visit to that table. Our table didn't get that level of attention, nor did the folks behind us. Won't be back anytime soon. read more
