I know that Jake's get great reviews, but this is what we've experienced: TWICE my husband had work done and had to take the car back because they didn't fix it properly, or they inadvertently caused damage that needed to be fixed. Both times they did the the re-work without a problem. Here's why I'm writing this review: when my car was 8 years old they flushed the coolant. I just found out today - 2 years later - that instead of replacing the radiator hoses, they put the 8 year old hoses back on my car. Twice in the last few months I've been told the hoses must be replaced at a cost of $225.00. If Jake's had replaced the hoses 2 years ago like any reputable mechanic would've had, I wouldn't need to pay this fee now. 3 STRIKES YOU'RE OUT!! read more

He even ordered a tiny part for my sun visor and got it in the next day. May not seem like a big deal, but I use my sun visor everyday to and from work so it's a big deal to me! read more

Turned to yelp when I needed brake repair, read the reviews and called several places for a quote. Jake's wasn't the cheapest but the difference in my top 2 picks was about $35 total so I went. Very glad I did. They've been there for 35 years, I was met at my vehicle by Jake's son who was very friendly, remembered most of my info, took my keys and got me a ride home. He called less then an hour later, explained what was wrong, didn't try any up sale and would try to have it done today. A few hours later, called and said the price was actually $100 less, NEVER HAVE I EVER HAD A MECHANIC WANT LESS THEN WHAT WAS QUOTED, and if I needed a ride back they would. I have so many problems with my tires, I seem to always have a low tire! Every time- I head over to Jakes and Bill takes such great care of mr & my Lexus! He has repeatedly fixed my tires for free or out of goodwill. The people here are very kind and always make sure that I'm comfortable while waiting for my car. As a young college student girl, I always need a reliable place to take my car for assistance. I've been using Jake's for a few years now. Every time I'm always greeted by Bill or one of the mechanics. Always courteous and helpful. And will give your ride home if needed. They are not one of those places that give you the runaround, or try to nickel and dime you to death. Their direct into the point. And always accomplish things in a timely manner. Today I got my oil changed one new tire and had to have another tire fixed. I was in and out in less than an hour and for a very very reasonable price. I was a customer of Jakes for 30+ yrs. And I would by-pass a LOT of service centers to give Jake's my business. The owners retired last November and there is a new owner. I took my van down for a summer check and oil change. It has been a few months now, but when I walked into e office Mark was working on his computer and didn't even bother to stand up to meet me at the counter. (The last owner would always meet me in the parking lot). I found Mark's attitude to be off-putting. He asked me what I needed. (Without approaching me). When I told him what I needed he replied that he couldn't do it that day and he might get to it the next day. Because it is a trip from my house I decided to leave my vehicle. (He didn't offer me a ride, like the other owners always did) My husband picked me up and I was home for less than 2 hours when the office assistant called me to tell me my car was ready. When I picked up the car, I asked Mark what changed that he could get my car done quickly and he just said something like they had cancellations. I asked him what they checked for the summer check and he could only tell the standard "10-point" check and all was OK. Well, less than a week later my air conditioning was blowing warm air..... it is possible that it broke after it was in Jakes, but I suspect that they didn't really check anything. Also a month later my front brake pads needed changing, and my tie rods needed replaced. That should have been found on the overall vehicle check. Jakes was the only shop that worked on that vehicle and they had all the records. Because of the curt behavior and I believe condescending way Mark addressed me, and the fact that I needed $2000'ish repairs less than two months after Jake's supposedly checked my vehicle, I won't be back. It is very sad that a small business that had awesome customer service for so many years has changed so dramatically. read more

We recently moved to central Phoenix and found ourselves needing a repair shop ASAP after our daughter almost totaled her 99 Lexus. I say almost because Bill at Jakes Auto said he could repair the tires, rims, axel crossbars and get it safe enough to drive again. We found Jakes just by searching yelp and we really lucked out! The Lexus runs, not worth the body work it needs, but it runs once again at a cost we were pleased with considering the amount of damage. We are thankful our daughter was not injured in the accident, (was cut off and car thrown into a guard rail). Nobody likes to have their car in the shop. I've been dreading the upcoming repair but it had to be done. Judging by the research I did, my catalytic converter was clogged. The acceleration was incredibly sluggish. I knew I had to take it in when people were chirping at me as they floored it by me the second they had the opportunity. I swear man, people just plain suck. Drivers on my ass, I might as well have been towing them. Just chill people! Why you in such a hurry to get to that red light? So, fearing a shotgun blast coming my way I decided to take my car here out of a recommendation from my woman's friend, who is a girl. I called & spoke to Bill & scheduled an appt. I showed up & Bill was quick to get my info in a very courteous manner. I handed over the keys & waiting about 10 min before one of the mechanics dropped me off at home, cool huh? 2 hours later Bill called & diagnosed my car with a clogged cat converter....and to let me know my front tires were as bald as slicks - which I knew already. I ok'd the work to be done & they called me later to let me know the driver was on his way to swoop me up. I was hoping for the bill to be cheaper but they don't use cheap Chinese parts here & I can respect that. The bill was on par with what was done with quality parts & I'm a satisfied guy. My ride purrs now like the piece of shit it normally is but now I can at least beat some poor bastards off the line. Get ready you pricks cuz now I have the shotty & in the immortal words of Carlitos - I RELOADED!! I would recommend this shop, I have no complaints. I am so grateful I found this place but it was not luck. 2 ppl at separate times recommended this garage so I began taking my vehicle there 6 yrs ago. I know the labor costs a little more than other places, but I'm willing to pay that to know it is honest guys doing the right repairs. This is honestly the worst place I have token my cars I have went to bill for past few years as he worked on my Nissan Sentra. He has done tones of work and I bring it in and my alternator or charging system is bad. I love Jake's!! My brother owns his own shop in NY which is also called Jake's. It may sound stupid, but that is the reason I originally went to Jake's many years ago. Whenever I would have something done on my car, I would call my brother to see if the quote was fair, and it has always been right on! I no longer feel the need to check on them :) They are always timely....they give me a ride if I need one and will pick me back up as well so I can drop my car off before work and pick it up after so I do not need to use my day off to get my car fixed. Often times the cost of the work done comes in less than the quote...you gotta love it. Jakes is the best place to get your cars fixed. I come out from Surprise just to have them work on the cars. They tell you whats wrong and give you options on getting the cars fixed. Bill and Patty are fantastic to deal with. I brought one of my cars there when another so called mechanic couldn't fix a chronic problem after 5 attempts, many days without my car and too much money to boot. One trip to Jakes and it was fixed the first time and I have never had a problem again. Bill figured it out the first time. I highly recommend them to everyone who asks me.
