First time here with my son for lunch on a Saturday. The place was crazy busy from all the local soccer teams. We we re able to get seated right away and were in a bit of a hurry to get to a game of our own. We told that to the waitress and she was very good about getting our food out very quickly. It seems they a a bit short handed. The waitresses are efficient but are overloaded. Once we got our drinks we never saw any refills because our gal was almost running to keep up with the orders. I would like to come back during the week and give this place another shot at a couple of additional stars. The Jake's special Burger was excellent. The frys need some more crisp. read more

Went with a couple friends to check this place out after a nice dinner. Wanted to stop in for a beer or two, maybe a dessert and/or snack. I was not really impressed with their beer selection. Wasn't anything special to write home about. Our waitress really didn't know squat about anything on the menu or anything that had to do with adult beverages. I've been coming to this place for a while now and we don't really order the food; we usually come for wine night which is half off a bottle of wine on wednesdays. their mozzarella sticks are good, but the only thing that they are consistent in disappointing us is that their wine glasses are always dirty... which in turn makes us drink out the bottle. almost 9/10 times we come it's never clean so beware of that :) oh and the smell in this establishment is weird/strong read more

Tasty, but the service was atrocious. We went right before an FC Dallas game and were told there was a 15 minute wait but that there was open seating at the bar. So we went to the bar and waited 10 minutes while two bartenders completely ignored us. By then we saw open tables and went back to the hostess and were seated immediately. But we still didn't have a waitress for another 5 minutes. The waitress was friendly and took our order, but came back later to tell me they were out of the beer I had ordered. So finally after being there for almost 20 minutes, we had our drinks. We ordered our food and it also took an extremely long time to arrive. We almost walked out because we didn't want to be late for the game, but the food arrived and we quickly scarfed it down. I had to go hunt down our waitress to pay her because we were tired of waiting at that point. The burgers were good and they had some unique items that I may have been interested in trying, but I doubt we'll be back. In addition to the wait the atmosphere wasn't very inviting. I'm also not sure why they have the waitresses dressed so scantily because it just makes the place look trashy. We went for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was good and hot. I would give the food 4 stars. The service however was beyond bad. We were seated at a table next to the hostess We sat at the table for over 15 minutes before anyone came over. Thankfully ( sarcasm) the waitress and waiters provided inappropriate entertainment throughout our dining experience. The hostess often broke out in a booty shake and then would grab her booty with both hands while dancing. The waitress dress code seems to be extremely short shorts, a huge sparkle belt and tanks that showed off there belly jewelry. I am also pretty sure that most of them have never waited a table before. They struggled with taking your order, bringing drinks, and refilling or offering other choices. We were really hungry for a good burger and fries. Jake's might have been the place to get just that but not on our first and only visit. First of all the young lady who was our server arrived at our table promptly after being seated. She was friendly initially until she discovered that we weren't there for happy hours drinks. The smile faded and friendliness turned to cool disinterest quickly. Okay. At any rate we ordered a burger with cheese, a quarter pound hot dog along with fries and onion rings. The food came out pretty quickly but nothing was piping hot. The fries might have been good but they were barely warm. I'd like to try them when they've been freshly cooked. Same with the onion rings which are coated in a nicely sweet beer batter. They also might have been delicious if hot out of the fryer. A few of them actually gushed cold grease when we bit into them. Not good. The hamburger patty was a sad shade of gray so it's probably good that it was almost paper thin too. The buns for both burger and hot dog were poppy seed which I really enjoy. The crust of seeds was almost too generous like they had been rolled in the seeds. The split and grilled hot dog was actually hot and had a good flavor. It was the best thing we tried. After our food arrived a manager who appeared to be flying by asked if everything was good. We just nodded. The question seemed to be one that really didn't beg to be answered. After we had finished our waitress actually asked if she could get some shakes to go started for us. Shakes to go? Wow why not just say, "What's your hurry? Here's your hat"? My dining partner and I both chuckled at that and asked for our soft drinks to go instead. So in sum, the service was not great but it was sufficient. The food for the most part was served at an unacceptable temperature and all, except for the burger, had the potential to be really tasty. We won't be running back to try the place again which is sad because we'd love to have found a nice newer place in boring Frisco to find good basic freshly made burgers and fries. read more

Spare yourself the aggravation. Beyond slow service. No front of house to greet you. Seat dirty and had to ask to be cleaned. Was warned in reviews about the slow service but 2 burgers and wait 50 mins!! The service staff are just too young, clearly not trained and clueless. Saw staff walking around with food going cold trying to find which table the food should go to. Not once but 4 times. No management is running this place. Just staff walking around in a daze. Clueless. Never tasted the food as husband so frustrated he walked out. Finally a manager appeared and apologized but way too late. Dear Management: PLEASE stop implementing a full-service atmosphere to a burger joint that doesn't need one as the service here is beyond horrible. We get it - the addition of a full bar and extra corporate rooms seemingly can triple the profit margins, but you are castrating your longtime loyal Dallas-based customers, and ultimately will ruin your reputation and probably your business as a whole. I applaud your experiment here, but the ship has sailed and your customers have spoken. IF YOU NEED PROOF - Just look at the reviews for the Lake Highlands location - Line Order rather than full service - as it is exponentially superior, and was the best burger joint I ever had growing up. Ridiculously overpriced! I think I paid $7 for 3 pieces of bacon, shredded iceberg lettuce, 1 tomato, two slices of white bread, and some mayo. Nothing AT ALL special about this food. NO kids menu! It's Frisco, TX and there is NO kids menu. I couldn't get over that. So I ordered my son a ham and cheese sandwich for $7. This EXCLUDED fries, chips, drink. This is JUST the sandwich. Same goes for the BLT that I wrote about above. Service was sub-par! My daughters lunch came out 20 minutes after everyone at our table for their food. She got to eat alone. I was beyond frustrated at this point. Manager and waitress was far from apologetic. Just behaved like that was the norm. On my last visit to Jake's Uptown, I was less than enthused with the service that I received. It was not a busy afternoon (around 4 PM), so I was surprised that the server was as inattentive as she was. She came by to take the order, then to bring the check. Our food was brought by a different employee altogether, and I had to summon a different server for drink refills. Instead of a burger this time, I ordered the grilled ham and cheese sandwich which was delicious! The loaded cheese fries was huge for a "small" order, and was covered with bacon bits, cheese, and chives. Definitely delicious! The restaurant was clean and inviting, with nice, ambient music playing in the background. I will visit again soon, and will hope for a better experience with a different server, because the food is wonderful. I still love the original Jake's in Dallas, better, though! read more

I'm not sure why there are SO many negative experiences here, we've been about 10 times since it's opened and typically have pretty good service, albeit sometimes a little distracted. My family and I had a terrible experience with the service at this restaurant. It took them over an hour to seat us (multiple people walked in after us and they were seated first) when we were finally seated, we waited another hour for them to bring the food out. This place rocks. The Jakes special loaded cheddar fries and a cold draft beer is all you need for a perfect lunch or dinner. Service is ok but with a lot of TVs and goblets of beer waiting an extra minute shouldn't be a big deal. The sweet tea is also excellent if you are not into drinking. Like the other reviews, burgers here are just okay. I had the mushroom swiss burger and I find it very bland. A few others mentioned that their burgers were bland too. Their HH drinks are a good deal. I got my strawberry frozen margarita for $3. Pretty good margarita. Burgers were reasonably priced here, but you have to order your sides separate. So in all, it averages about $8-$10 for your meal without a drink. I got tots with mine---very soft like how I like it, but I know most people prefer it crispy. My coworkers got a kick out of the marshmallow dipping sauce for their sweet potato fries though---it's almost like a dessert. I got the stuffed jalapenos (with red peppers). YUM YUM YUM! It's kind of sad that my appetizer was better than my burger, but that's just my opinion. They have nice private rooms for big groups. Service was good. Empty for a Monday night. At least I can say I've tried this place. Looks like they also serve breakfast and brunch. read more

We walk in and are offered menus from the hostess and find a table outside towards the rear section. Every single server ignores us. After 15 minutes, I approached a server or manager (bald dude) and ask to be served, and his response was "Did you check in with the hostess?" We don't serve those tables. This was a 1 Star for us if there ever has been one. Queso was gross (sent it back), burgers were gross (sent back), fries were fresh cut but not in a good way. Not all fresh cut fries are created equal. Cheddar tots were good but wouldn't come back just for those. My 4 year old liked the grilled cheese, so I guess there's that. We had opted not to visit this place because of the past reviews but we were craving a burger so we thought we would check it out. We really loved their burgers & tater tots. They were fantastic and the beer was served in schooners and it was so cold which was a definite bonus. We have now been there twice and the food is deliciously consistent and the service was great!! The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they don't have a kid's menus so you have to order everything separately which will cost you about 10-12 bucks. We will return!!! read more
