I am so sick and tired of restaurants getting hyper-commercial frozen garbage and pretending like they're actually cooking something. 90% of the places around here are just using taking boxes of frozen whatever and passing it off like their actually cooking food. Hadn't been to Didi's in quite a while and was craving a burger. I had had enough of nearly everything within a 3 mile radius and remembered that Didi's used to have good food. Holy, the burger was Exactly what I was looking for. Not some box of patties, but actually a hamburger made like an actual restaurant should make. Made there in the kitchen with a blend of meats (I asked the waitress after I finished). And I can't STAND all the garbage fries served as nothing but cheap calorie fillers so I tried the elote (corn). Ordered the elote corn here and omg, I literally could not have cooked it better myself. And I've tried to nail a taste like this. I'm sure this sounds contrived. But i have no dog in this hunt, just noting that this is how a restaurant is supposed to deliver and it did. Very refreshing, will be back next week. read more

Just came back and had their lunch specials! they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! We really love this place, it'll be our go to place now! We also love our waitress Rebecca, she's so friendly and always chat with us! She's the best! We had the lunch specials, FRIED ATLANTIC COD TACOS (tempura fried cod, corn or flour tortillas, cabbage, jalapeno cilantro aioli, pico de gallo, french fries) and SHRIMP BASKET (4 fried gulf shrimp, french fries, tartar sauce) the lunch special also come with tea or soda! Cute restaurant! Made reservations for 4 for dinner on a Friday night and met some friends there. Inside seemed kinda loud when we checked in so we sat outside on the huge patio. It ended up being pretty loud as well and huge fans were blowing which helped keep the flies away but was a little annoying. We moved over to an empty table next to us and that helped keep us out of the wind tunnel. We had a great time catching up with our friends. We looked over the menu and placed our orders. There was some live entertainment setting up and once it got going it was very hard to keep conversing. The food was very good and the manager came by our table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Our friend had seen the chef/owner? on TV do an interview and that's how we found Didi's Downtown. Visited this restaurant tonight for a date night and loved that they had live entertainment on their patio. This restaurant is really cute and cozy consisting of an indoor and outdoor sitting areas. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and a spicy pineapple ranch water drink. They were both fabulous as far as taste and presentation. Our waiter was nice and service was ok however I did feel at the end my waiter was a bit in a rush to take our food away although I was not done with my food yet. I never attacked your food, cleanliness, or staff -- I've actually said the food was good. In hindsight, I probably should have said the atmosphere and policy experience were one star, not the food itself. Customers rate experiences based on what matters to them, whether that's atmosphere, service, pricing, or pet-friendliness. Also, let's be realistic -- dogs aren't automatically "unsanitary" while humans are somehow spotless. I've seen far more disgusting behavior from people in restaurants than I ever have from a well-behaved dog on a patio. Responsible pet owners aren't the health crisis you're making them out to be. What's more concerning is a business owner publicly insulting a customer instead of responding professionally. "Good riddance" and personal attacks say more about your customer service than my review ever could. I genuinely wish your restaurant success, but customers should be able to leave honest feedback without being mocked for it. read more

What amazing food and service! We started with the special fried deviled eggs. Lightly breaded and served warm. The best ever! My husband had the Philly cheese steak and I had the hot honey chicken sandwich. They both were delicious. The chicken was not spicy, lightly breaded, thin and I definitely took half home! The drink & beer list is large and the specials change weekly. Happy hour Wednesday-Sunday, not Saturdays, 3-6. Live music every night 6:30 to close. Chef Scott stopped by our table and visited. Our server Simone was extremely professional and thorough. Special thanks to Ava for providing extra service in regards to my spicy cravings. We met chef/ owner Scott, who was all over the restaurant ensuring every patron was enjoying themselves and experiencing high standards. Hippy Kai Yay Didi Goers! This cute little southern gem is the place to be on a Friday night! As I walked in to this cute little restaurant I was welcomed by Didi herself. She gave us a big hug and asked how our day was harvesting the crops down yonder. As I warmed up my dreary bones by the nice fire Didi brought over some delicious Philly Cheesesteak eggrolls. She was telling us that she just came back from a trip from Philadelphia and had this idea of making a Philly Cheesesteak eggroll! How witty of her. Then she spent her whole day fishing out by the Frisco lake and caught some catfish and redfish! She sure is a hard worker. As I finished the egg rolls there she comes with the main courses! This place has been on our "Must go" list, so after church we decided to go check out brunch & so glad we did! Our sever, Sydney was excellent! The Chef came over to our table, nice touch! We tried the loaded fries, hot honey chicken sandwich, side Caesar and the bbq chicken and macaroni. The loaded fries were extra cheesy and very good. The hot honey chicken was a little disappointing. It is pounded thin and didn't have much flavor. I think adding some extra sauce would help the flavor and not so thin would help prevent the chicken being dry. The salad was good. The bbq chicken and macaroni was also good. We are visiting Frisco from out of town and noticed this great restaurant was right down the street. We had dinner here our first night, and wow it was amazing. I had the patty melt and my wife had the meat loaf. For dessert we had their beignets, and wow, those were amazing too. We were so excited and stoked about the quality of food, that we decided to go there again today (Saturday) for brunch. The food was again amazing for brunch. The staff is very friendly. The review lost one star because the chef was walking through the restaurant, stopped at our table, and reprimanded us for bringing outside coffee into the restaurant (we are from out of town and didn't know the rules and also double checked that it is not posted on the door). It is never a good feeling to be reprimanded in the middle of a family meal. Other than the one bad experience during breakfast, I would highly recommend this place! The food and service never disappoints. Didi's is our favorite area restaurant. I love that I can have the house salad as a side instead of the fries and at no extra charge. The variety of food options means I can eat here several times and not get bored with the same meal. Also, weekly specials add more to the mix of food. Everything on the menu is very reasonably priced. The owner and chef, Scott, walks the dining room and genuinely cares if patrons are enjoying their visit. Don't let the full or almost full parking lot turn you away. We have never had to wait for a table inside. The volume level inside is such that my husband and I can enjoy our conversation, making for a great evening out. We intend to experience the patio with live music sometime soon. read more

We wanted to go somewhere that was off the beat and path. We ventured to the downtown area and I had read some of the reviews and we were like let's go!!! I really like the way it looks so comfortable and like you're eating dinner with family. Our waitress Simone, greeted us as soon as we were seated. She made great small talk to get to know us and welcome us. She went over the menu and shared with us what they were know for and gave us some great recommendations. We started off with the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. This is a must when you come here. These were some of the best we've ever had. The steak was full of flavor and oh so tender. The cheese was just right and the egg roll had the best crunch. The horseradish and ranch dip took it over the top. Our entrees were the mushroom Swiss burger, the general Tso's chicken sandwich and the hot honey chicken sandwich. All three were amazing!!! The burger was cooked perfectly and so juicy. Both chicken sandwiches were huge and not dried out. They were lightly breaded but had that crunchy coating that you want your sandwich to have. The general Tso's sauce had a kick but it was really good. The hand cut fries were amazing!! That's how you complement a great sandwich. The owner came out and introduced himself and that made us feel more welcomed. When we're in town again, we will definitely be back. The beignets were the best I've ever had and I've been all over New Orleans. They were so soft and full of deliciousness. The honey dipping sauce was the right sauce for these. This is for the owner. Definitely found a new neighborhood go to! We decided to give Didi's a try for lunch while out and about and we are so glad we did! They have both indoor and outdoor seating but I truly think the magic of the ambiance is on the patio. It has a welcoming and low key vibe with eccentric decor and friendly staff. They also have live music on the weekends. Everything we tried was delicious including the hand made chicken strips, fish tacos, and the biggest and best honey butter chicken sandwich (a definite must!). They have a wide range of drinks but we had the ranch waters which are perfectly refreshing. We liked our lunch so much that we went back for dinner the next night. Dinner also did not disappoint with crab stuffed shrimp and meatloaf. Didi's is 100% in our new rotation. Definitely check this place out! read more

Met up with a friend for early dinner. What a nice surprise, such a warm and homey place. It was a beautiful day and decided to sit on the patio.. They weren't busy so we were able to chat and visit without distractions. Our waitress was very nice and had good recommendations. She never hovered, and let us visit. We started with a Rose' Spritzer to drink, it was light and refreshing , and garnished with fresh fruit, which was the Drink of the Week. We decided to try the Tempura Artichoke Hearts, very tasty, loved the lightness of the batter and just enough garlic in the aoli dipping sauce. I had the Patty Melt, perfectly medium, thick patty, oozing with cheese. My friend had the Chicken Texican, oh my goodness, the charred corn the huge breast sat on was amazing! (I think it was Elote, but can't be sure), but Just enough char to taste it and melt in your mouth goodness! I thought the menu had quite the variety (without being too big). And the prices very reasonable. Came here for the name, stayed for the food. I was hungry after shadowing Dr. Lu (such a chill guy) so I decided to look for restaurants in the area and saw this place. Did Didi's Disappoint? Didi Didn't Disappoint! I got the Blackened Ahi sandwich with Tuna, Didi Slaw, tomato, avocado, and wasabi vinaigrette. Boy oh boy do I love Didi Slaw! It had a smoky flavor which was fire! 17 buckaroos for a sando is kinda crazy, but it was good nonetheless! My server was bailey and she was very nice! The whole meal had very distinct flavors reminding me of Japanese cuisine (Blackened ahi and the wasabi vinaigrette) but also that smoky flavor reminding me of Texas BBQ. Didi's has a rustic feel inside, a transformed old house to restaurant. Small town vibe. The food was good, but prices seemed a bit high. Which would make us think twice about going back. My wife had the phili cheese steak sandwich which didn't have the amount of cheese you'd expect from a typical one, everything else about it though was good. I had country fried steak and eggs, which came with some potatoes as a side, but many other restaurants also give pancakes or toast for the same price. Quality/taste of the food no complaints, was good. We took our little and he had a kids egg and sausage which was $8. We just wanted to try it out with friends who picked it never being there before either. It was a nice experience overall, staff was attentive, but for the price, probably choosing another place first. Maybe we're just a younger family stricter on budget, but price is a factor for us. read more
