When first coming I'm to Jake's I had no preconceptions of what to expect. I was very impressed. The hostess and servers greeted me promptly and were very friendly. After being seated Jake my server (I know funny right it's like Jakeception) was very attentive and took care of me very well. I had the fried mushrooms as an app and to my surprise had a spicy flavor to them . For the main dish I ordered the breakfast burger. By far one of the best burgers I have had in a long while. First visit for lunch today and we had a great experience. I like eating outdoors, the outdoor area is in the shade and cool on a warm day. Excellent tunes on the speakers at a good volume level. If you frequent "fancier" bars or like going to the shops at Legacy/Legacy West, this isn't for you. That being said, I love this place. Their food is delicious and their drinks pack a punch. If you like fruity drinks, I recommend Jackberry Smash and Cherry Limeade-(photo included). The staff is also incredibly friendly. I sat at the bar and was served by Makayla. Very sweet lady. She definitely knows how to make drinks and make them look presentable. Only reason I'm removing a star is because of the pricing. It's not super expensive but their burgers don't include fries; you have to buy them separately. Also their well drinks are $6. I'm pretty cheap so I hate spending more than $5 on a well drink. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Let's start from the beginning. We walked in with a party of 6 at a time when the restaurant was nearly empty. They escorted us to a dirty table in a restaurant full of empty tables. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and 1 drink from the bar. 15min go by and one of the memebers of our party had to ask about the alcoholic drink that was visibly left sitting at the bar for over 10mins. Ok.. fine... then the server comes to take our orders, with several questions about the menu, the server kept repeating the answer "I'm not really sure", your staff is unsure if a burger comes with fries or not?!?! The server proceeded to take orders and forgot to take EVERYONES order so we had to stop her so she could get the rest of the table's orders... 35mins later we see 2 servers take a tray of food (all looking identical to our order) to another table. The customers looked at it, PUT THEIR HANDS IN, and said it wasnt theirs and sent it back. The servers loaded it up on the tray, took it to the back for 30secs and brought the sameeee tray of food and handed it to us. All 6 plates of food were ICE COLD. the nachos looked like microwave nachos you forgot about and reheated 20mins later and were dripping oil. Every burger was cold, and we werent able to tell if it was because it sat back there too long or of it was because it wasn't thoroughly cooked. Not one thing was hot. Orders came out wrong. Things forgotten etc. We asked for the manager who proceeded to tell us that he would take our criticism to heart and asked us what we want him to do about this!? We were told our whole table would be comped but they charged us anyways for the appetizers. Wth?! After we complained, he went to the table that recieved our food initially to which they also complained of cold food to which they sent back twice before storming out! This brings so much shame to the original Jakes and in Frisco, none the less! As I type this I am busy puking up my ice cold turkey burger that apparently answered my earlier question- not cooked. So incredibly disappointed and would NEVER recommend going back to this location. read more

Since it was Mother's, Day, I opted for the chicken fried steak breakfast. Our efficient waitress greeted us and immediately asked " can i get you two a bloody marys?" Duh? Thank you for all the positive changes...mainly in the kitchen. Probably the best Jake's breakfast ever. I've been coming to Jakes since they opened and after a year of not coming i'm very disappointed. I ordered a milkshake with my drink and it took 30 minutes for it to come out and when it did it was completely melted. Ordered another one while waiting longer while our server avoided us the whole time. When our food finally came half of the stuff we asked for was missing. Our drinks stayed empty, didn't ask if our food was good, talked to us one time after we got our food. HORRIBLE experience. read more

Wife and I went to Jakes on Friday for the Shrimp Burger. This was our third time here and it has been consistently good. The burgers are hot and juicy, fries and tots are both great. I like the cheese and everything on them, dipped in Ranch. This is not a place for a dieter BTW. LOL. Daizie was our waiter and knows her stuff. She brought us extra napkins before we asked, drinks stayed full, etc.. Little things like that make it a solid place for an amazing burger and a consistently good meal. They take your temp when you walk in and this impressed my daughter who is all about safety, so that's another plus. This is my dads absolute favorite spot and he finally brought me here to try out the famous #14 (they recently changed the menu so they don't have numbers anymore) they call it "The works"! Don't waste your money here. They took almost 45 mins to get our food out and there were only 3 other tables. While we had 11 of us, almost everyone got the same thing and they got almost every order wrong. We weren't given silverware at all and no one asked for refills once. The food was bad and cold. We got the traditional breakfast and everything was cold. Why do eggs take so long to cook? The waitress literally made the comment that we ordered too many burgers. It's a burger place. read more

I have always been a fan of Jake's in uptown and was thrilled to see they were coming to my area in Frisco. My wife had never been there and I spoke so highly of it to her so we opted to go yesterday. When we first arrived we stood at the waitress stand for a good 5 minutes before we were even greeted. Only to be greeted with a very luke warm hello. We requested a table for 2 and told the hostess that we did not have a preference seating inside or outside. She then showed us to a table on the patio which was nice and had a great atmosphere. So things appeared to be improving at this point. There may have been 3 occupied tables on the patio when we sat down. However we did not even see a waitress in site for the first 10 minutes we were there. And when we did see a waitress we got total ignored. Needless to say after 15 minutes of not even taking our drink order or even saying hello we decided to leave and head to another place to dine. Hopefully they can turn things around. We are very easily to please and do not complain often but after our experience here I felt obligated to let others know. read more

We've been here a few times. I was going to give Jake's 4 stars but I'm going with three for now. Here's what I like: I like the layout and location. Lots of TVs and a nice bar. They also have a really nice patio. Can't wait until the weather warms up so we can take advantage of it. The food is good. I really really like their turkey burger. It's so good it doesn't even taste like turkey. I also like the grilled chicken Caesar salad. They serve big ass beers so that alone is worth a star. Here's the one drawback. The service is spotty. We've actually experienced pretty good service until the other night. Our waitress was good but the kitchen was slow, really slow! People at all of the tables around were complaining. The waitresses and managers were apologizing but man, that was a lot of unhappy people. They screwed up one table's entire order. I'm not sure what the problem is but Jake's needs to figure it out. Looking at the rating and the other reviews, I'm surprised that management of this disaster hasn't figured out where to make changes. That's where I am torn on who or what to blame here for this dismal review. My wife and I came here for a quick bite and it was anything but quick, even though the restaurant was less than half full. Most, not all of the waitresses here fall into the categories of "I could care less", or "OMG, yer my BFF, LOL." There are one or possibly two that seem to realize it is good customer service that generates tips. That being said, that is the whole reason for the abysmal rating, any positive the qualities of the burgers served here quickly and messily are destroyed by the pathetic attempts of the wait staff to care as little as possible for their patrons. This place would easily carry a four star rating if the management would show even the smallest amount of competency in training their staff on order taking, accuracy, personality, professionalism, attentiveness and work ethic. From what I saw, most of the floor managers walk around with a deer-in-headlights look, when not looking at their iPhones or the waitresses cleavage or behinds. Too bad, the owners are probably oblivious to the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a full service restaurant. You want a good burger, with competent service to back it up? Go to Ace's Ice House and Chop Shop or Scotty P's. I hear Burger 21 will be open in a few months. Save your money and your sanity, stay away from Jakes. read more

Service was horrible,as someone who works as a waitress having your guests satisfied is literally THE most important factor. We were seated in a pretty empty section at the time & expected for our drink order to be taken right away, there were literally about 15 girls on the floor ... No reason it shouldn't have been taken sooner, it took 7 minutes to get a drink & it was from a manager I'm assuming, he claimed he had just got there and figured that no one had taken care of us.Anyways he brought our drinks said nothing else and walked away, we looked over at the hostess stand and literally counted 6 girls just standing there goofing around. Literally, just standing there, hadn't been greeted or had any of them come introduce themselves as our waitress... A few minutes later a girl named caitlin came over to take our order saying she and another girl had switched sections which I thought was complete BS considering the girl she was claiming she switched sections with,was still serving in the section because she got a 8 top AFTER us and had NO problem helping them. Our appetizer was good but when our food came out my mom's chicken tenders and fries were cold and mine had not been cooked thoroughly. Safe to say we were highly disappointed&unsatisfied. The other JAKES restaurants we've been to (addison)the service and food were great ! But here ... they needed a little more than a lot of help. This place has the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant - bar none! Servers with attitudes. Happy Hour prices - three bucks for 3 types of domestic are a decent deal but if you want a break on imports - no luck - you pay full price. The margaritas are the absolute worst in town. They taste like they are made with some sort of powdered drink mix. When I asked if I could get a floater for the margarita to possibly make it taste better, usually available for minimal costs at other bars, they said it would be $8 extra. I sent the drink back - something I never do. The food is very average, the usual fried bar junk and only cooked one way thin burger patties. I definitely will not be back. read more

Sooo, we have been going to Jakes for a while because they offer gluten-free buns, which I love, and my husband & son love their burgers. It was "our" family burger place until recently. Unfortunately, on our last visit, I found a particular type of hair in my food, which was beyond disgusting. It was very obvious, and although the manager came by and offered a free dessert, he didn't really take much accountability for what was EXTREMELY obvious. I apologize for being graphic, but let's just say the hair - root and all - was in the cheese on my burger. An obvious kitchen hygiene error. The manager explained that all his guys wear hair nets, but with this type of finding, I'm wondering if they wash hands after visiting the restroom. He comped my meal and asked if I wanted something replaced, but the answer was a clear no. All we wanted to do was leave as soon as possible. Advice to Jakes: 1.) When something THAT GROSS happens, accept FULL accountability and comp the entire meal (we were three - two adults and a kids menu - it wouldn't have been that much of a loss) then go on to explain that there is absolutely no excuse and you will commit to stricter hygiene standards. Do NOT give a canned explanation justifying the behavior with hair nets. 2.) Clean up your act and take accountability for hygiene. I gave Jakes 2 stars only because we have eaten there several times before with a positive experience, and I would hate to hold the entire restaurant and/or ownership responsible for one mistake. However, someone should take responsibility for hygiene, so I'll leave it up to Jake's to determine who that will be. On a positive note, the waitresses are always precious, and their food is really good when it doesn't come with gross extras. Would love to be able to return, but after that experience, we will be looking for a new family burger joint. read more

I am not usually this gullible but I got an email from a new waitress a couple of months after I wrote my last review that told me that management and staff had changed and I should give them another shot. It has not changed and may even be worse. I should mention that the Dr. Pepper company was having some kind of get-together in the back of the restaurant. But the waitresses did not seem busy at all. My wife I arrived their and was seated by the manager and said our waitress would be right over. After about 10 minutes our waitress still had not shown up and the manager came by again and asked if the waitress had been by. We told him no. He took our drink order and said she would be right over. We saw him tell her we needed service. She rolled her eyes and kept doing what she was doing. In about 6 or 7 minutes she came over and did not say a word and just stood there with her order pad. After a few seconds of us looking at her she said, "Are you going to order?" I don't know why we did not leave at that time. Enough about the service. We got our burgers, I got the chili burger and it was stone cold. The manager nor the waitress never bothered to come back to check on us. We also got tater tots and there were 8 tots in our order! After we ate, we flagged down another waitress and she got our check for us. Shame on me for trying again. That will be my last trip. read more

I went with my family and we were hoping for good food but left disappointed. Everything was just mediocre. For the price, the burgers should come with fries or chips - something. No kids menu is a bad idea IMO - especially in Frisco. I think the food was overpriced for the quality. Service was lacking also. Our waitress was ok but very slow. We also had to swat away flies the entire time. Gross. I would rather go to mooyah or 5 Guys or Burger Girl (which is the only one of those that serves alcohol). I was super excited when I heard that Jakes was opening a joint in Frisco! Having lived in Dallas before the big home purchase, I knew the deliciousness that is Jakes Uptown (typically good for sopping up a hang over). I've been several times and the new digs do not disappoint. Their burgers are big! You can request any with a single patty or share easily. They offer a new burger each month but the rest of the menu remains. I prefer the sesame bun but plain is available. From burger to chicken sandwich to patty melt to grilled cheese, I haven't been disappointed with my choice. For sides, my fave is loaded fries, definitely to share. Fried pickles and bottle caps (fried jalapeños) are also good to add on. As you may have noticed, this place isn't going to align with your New Years resolutions but will help ease that hang over in a jiffy! read more

First time here with my son for lunch on a Saturday. The place was crazy busy from all the local soccer teams. We we re able to get seated right away and were in a bit of a hurry to get to a game of our own. We told that to the waitress and she was very good about getting our food out very quickly. It seems they a a bit short handed. The waitresses are efficient but are overloaded. Once we got our drinks we never saw any refills because our gal was almost running to keep up with the orders. Wasn't anything special to write home about. Our waitress really didn't know squat about anything on the menu or anything that had to do with adult beverages.
