Scam artist AHS warranty sent out. Wanted $1500 to fix pipes, drywall, put cabinet back. I can't afford that. So he said he would fix the pipes for $600. I can't afford that. He left the pipes uneven lengths and my husband had to repair it. Then he didn't do his report for weeks, then said we put the hole in the drywall and took the cabinet down. I have the receipt to show I paid him $60 to take down the cabinet to find the leak behind the sheetrock he tore down. I don't know if Jake's or AHS is the bigger problem, but 3 weeks and I'm trying to sell my house and have a 4' hole in the wall that he made. AHS now won't pay for the drywall repair because Jake's told them we did it. read more

After Jakes Plumbing told me that I needed to move the AC ducts in my garage in order for them to access my leaky pipe, I got second opinions. Two other plumbers came out to my house and told me that there was no need to move the ducts since the leak was elsewhere. I contacted the home warranty company to update them and I requested a new plumber. Thankfully, they sent someone else out who concurred with the other plumbers and the issue is now resolved. But this confirms my lack of trust in this company. read more

I called Jayk's about 6 months ago to install a water line in my garage and another on the outside of my house. They did a terrific job and at a reasonable price for the work involved. Recently we noticed sewer gas smell in our guest lavatory so I called Jayks's again. They came and discovered what the issue was and repaired it for about 1/2 of what I was expecting. They don't have a travel charge or anything like that. Very neat and clean up after themselves. I couldn't be happier with Jayk's and rave about them to my neighbors and friends. I have never in my life experienced such disgraceful customer service. In July of 2015, my hot water tank started leaking. I called American Home Shield and they assigned the job to Jake's Plumbing. They made their inspection visit and told me there were various items that would not be covered by the insurance company amounting to around $200. I agreed to the charges and AHS signed off on the replacement tank. Jakes' returned to install the tank a few days later. In mid-December of 2015, my wife remarked that she could smell something like car exhaust fumes when she was out in the garden. I called our propane gas suppliers and asked them to come out and check for leaks. They came out the same day, did not discover any leaks but informed me that the hot water tank installed by Jake's was for use with natural gas not propane and immediately red tagged it due to health and fire issues. I contacted Jake's Plumbing and was told I would have to go through AHS. I called AHS and was told they no longer used Jake's Plumbing. I can certainly understand that based on their yelp reviews. I called Jake's Plumbing and they refused to take any action and once again told me I would have to have it handled by AHS. Not only did they install the incorrect tank, causing health and safety issues for months before we discovered the problem, they flatly refused to correct the problem at their expense. In the meantime, my wife's asthma was very bad due to the noxious carbon monoxide fumes created by the tank. Once the tank was switched off, her asthma improved dramatically overnight. I am currently in the process of filing a small claims court action and a state contractor's License Board complaint against Jake's Plumbing. I understand that mistakes happen but to flatly refuse to accept responsibility for them and fix them is a disgrace. Do not under any circumstances use this company. read more

I would highly recommend!! We had noticed water dripping from our ceiling by the time we got home on a Friday night. Jake had answered on the first call early Saturday morning and was at our house a few hours later. They were very professional and determined the problem right away and fixed it and for a fair price. VERY BAD SERVICE!! As their other customers I wish there were negative stars so Jake Plumbing could receive them. Jake Plumbing was assigned by American Home Shield home warranty and they were NOT able to complete a water leakage work from a shower handler during many weeks. In addition to services fees received from the home warranty they charged me a high-value of money because they claimed that they need to modify water pipe lines for the replacement of a valve and the home warranty will not pay for it. They replaced Brass (Gold) shower handler and trim with temporary ones (chrome) and told that they will order the parts and return to complete the work. After many calls from me and the home warranty NO response!! I have not experienced before that an owner of business does not care about their customers when there is an emergency work such as a water leakage. read more

Very positive experience. Our guest bath toilet backed up on Christmas with a house full of family. We made it thru the night with everyone using our master bath toilet. I got on the phone the day after Christmas trying to get someone out to help us. Jakes plumbing answered the phone right away, arrived in a few hrs when they said they would, and fixed our toilet in 15 minutes. I had called mid-morning about 2 outside spigots that needed to be replaced. He was over within 1-2 hours and replaced them quickly and with ease. They checked the new spigots to make sure they worked after they were replaced and warned me about air that might come through some of the inside pipes so I wouldn't be alarmed. We were referred Jake's Plumbing through our Home Warranty (First American). We are very pleased with their service for our water heater. We had already gone through a big ordeal with our water heater. From the time they were assigned to us, the plumber called and made the appt., came on time. They fixed the heater temporarily, as we had to wait for the parts. They even called and checked after the heater was fixed temporarily, if it is working or if the part has arrived. When the parts came in, they came back and finished their job. They were on time, great customer service and we would highly recommend it. read more

Like so many others, our home warranty company assigned Jakes to us. Service call to the warranty company was for shower and faucet leaks. Shower dripped, and faucets in the same bathroom leaked unless the handle was in just the right place when shut off. John came out, saw what I was talking about with the faucet handles, and told me that he would report in about it and that I would get a call in the next few days. I asked him to get me a bid on replacing all my bathroom faucets, including those leaking, as they were all the same age. I also asked him to let us know what, if anything, the warranty company would cover and about the possibility of paying the difference between whatever the warranty company would cover and what it would cost for nicer fixture options, explaining that I would pay for whatever the additional costs might be. Never got a call about any of that. They called to schedule the work for the shower drip. When I called to ask about why the faucet leaks were not being addressed Jake told me that the warranty company would not cover them. When I asked him why not, he said John told him that there was no problem with the faucets. When I told him I did not believe that, as John was standing with me when I clearly demonstrated the leaks, he got angry and said they would look at it again when they came out for the shower leak. When I asked him if that would mean another $75 charge, he said "we'll see," as if that was all right. My guess is that he never actually talked with John about the faucets. He only read the abbreviated notes on the original invoice, which did not go into detail. So... John dropped the ball about communicating the faucet problem and then, when I asked about it, Jake lied to me rather than telling me that he did not know the whole story. Rather than hearing reason, he dug his heals in and essentially called me a liar. His tone was condescending and angry, as though I was an annoyance rather than a customer. Canceled the appointment for the shower leak, and will be explaining how unhappy I am to the warranty company. In summary: if your warranty company offers Jakes as an option, tell them you want someone else. If it was possible to give less than one star, I would. read more

If there were negative stars, they would receive them. Don't get me wrong, the person that came out, Jon, was polite. He first showed up with no appointment and luckily someone was home. He unclogged the drain and left. It backed up again the next day. He snaked it out again the next day. It backed up again a week later. So, the problem has not been resolved. I have not been able to get ahold of them for a month. I finally did a *67 to hid my caller-id and lo and behold, Jake picked up the phone. He said they no longer work for first American as of a couple of weeks ago and I needed to get another plumber. I asked if he then was not going to honor the commitments for the job he was paid to do and he said that it is in the insurance company's hands and he would not be back out. I told him that I was going to write a yelp review and he called me a something that you should not call a customer as he hung up. WOW! Jon was very nice, the owner... not so much. I then called the insurance company. It turns out that he is still on contract per the person I talked to but may not be much longer based on his refusal to come out and that he told me he was not on contract. We have called on Jake's twice so far. They were on time, fast, no mistakes, polite and very reasonably priced for a kitchen garbage disposal hookup and under-counter RO water filter replacement. Then a few months later Jake was back to do a water softener and whole house water filter hookup. Not only did the water softener and filter hookup for a very reasonable price, but fully installed and configured the water softener for us at no extra charge. Jake is due back in the morning to sort out somebody else's faulty water jet tub installation. We know we will be in good hands. You can't do better than Jake's! read more

Came home to a clogged sink. I attempted to fix the problem myself and I broke off the clean out plug. I called Jake's Plumbing and received a quick return call. I explained the problem and was given a two hour window for a plumber to show up. About an hour later, Jake showed up and immediately assessed the problem. Jake provided a quick solution and assured me it was not as bad as it looked. With a quick snaking of the drain and a new cap, the problem was fixed. Jake was very knowledgable and professional. Jake's Plumbing was assigned to do a 2nd opinion call from my home warranty company after things went bad with the first plumber they assigned to my claim. My garbage disposal wasn't working. The first plumbing company didn't even look down the drain, they only took a picture of the unit under the sink, told me I needed a new garbage disposal, said that they weren't sure the insurance would cover it, took the $65 and left. Thus the 2nd opinion. This morning when Eric from Jake's Plumbing arrived, he already had his tool bucket in hand, asked what the problem was, got under the sink and within a minute had fixed it. There was some small object that had lodged in there and it froze the motor. There was no need to replace the disposal. Eric then noticed that my gasket needed to be replaced, had an extra one on him and quickly replaced that. Eric was great. He really knows his stuff when it comes to garbage disposals. Based on my experience Jake isn't to be trusted. He made recommendation for expensive repairs and was difficult at ever step. The warranty company sent another plumber and they were able to fix it in one call at no additional cost. Jake didn't return call or respond to my letter. It took 3 months to get nothing that took the next plumber an hour. Based on my experience the 5 star rating are made up. I would ask to talk with live customers. Get a second opinion. read more

When Jon from Jakes Plumbing arrived he has a motorized snake and cleared the blockage in 20 minutes. Jon was also polite, on time and reachable through text messaging. I had scheduled plumbing work with Jake's plumber through Home Shield Insurance and it was a good experience at first. Then come to one of the underground work that I need to add brass coupling to and he quoted for $85 since it was not part of the insurance scope. After the first visit, he re- quoted and increase another $100. I was ok with the price so the work can be done. The next thing was another person who work for Jake came out and get the item done. Unfortunately the job was not complete. 4 feet away was the same job and he did it in the wrong area. My inspector came and point it out to me and I called Jake. As this state, because he think I needed to get it done so I can sell; he change the price to $280 for the same job. This job was not completed and he charges more? OMG!!! I was outrage since the work was not completed. I then didn't want to work with him ever again and yelp around for a different plumber, and he charges me $175 for the entire work. The week we moved into our new home, we had to cope with serious plumbing problems, and then the water heater failed. We had a homeowner's warranty with American Home Shield who sent out Jake's. It was very hard to work with AHS - the original plumbers they contracted wouldn't come over until 3 days later after the toilet drain had failed! American Home Shield switched to Jake's. The workers were ok - friendly and competent. In the middle of them working on the plumbing problems, the water heater failed, The house had been inspected and the water heater was working when we moved in. Although Jake had never been to the house, he reported to American Home Shield that it was a 'pre-existing condition,' even though his workers told me that they thought the heater should be covered. This was impossible because we had just moved in, and the house had been inspected by a licensed home inspection company. It looks to me like Jake was eager to please American Home Shield so that he would get repeat business rather than legitimately serve the home owner. The failed water heater was not a 'pre-existing' condition. If so, we would have had the seller fix it before signing off on the purchase of the house. I am still very unhappy about this and will report this to the appropriate California regulators. To be treated so poorly when we were struggling with these problems upon moving in shows Jake's the extremely poor customer service (not his workers). Since having these problems, I switched to a Home Emergency Insurance Solutions insurance policy introduced by our local water utility, and have had excellent results. There is no excuse for the stress and difficulty we went through, let alone the expense we had to pay to replace a water heater that was obviously covered. Shameful! read more

I would not recommend Jake's Plumbing to anyone. Very unprofessional businessman. His employee Eric was very professional and informed me Jake needed to contact AHS insurance to check my coverage to complete the work. No call for almost a week. I called Jake and he proceeded to tell me the work was done. He became argumentative instead of trying to rectify the problem. Called AHS and they said I'd have to pay for another plumber to come out so I was stuck with Jake. Jake sent Eric out again just to say all the work was not covered. Called AHS, they said he never contacted them and this is when I requested a supervisor call me. While on the phone complaining to a supervisor at AHS, I received a VM from another supervisor from AHS who had just got off the phone with Jake and he told her the order was closed and my washer clean out and kitchen sink were both cleared. WRONG!! It was my toilet and washer clean out and they were not fixed. Incompetent and shady business practices that cost the consumer time and money. read more
