The service was great. The ladies were very nice. Unfortunately the food tasted like frozen food service items. The potato salad seemed scooped straight from a container. Ordered coffee - never got it. Ordered Shrimp Giardina. It was shrimp in a thick, irridescent, brown gravy. No giardina (vegetables) but for the stuffed mushrooms and some green flecks in the gravy. The shrimp and gravy was served over about a pound of angel hair pasta. The plate was overloaded and heavy but mostly with pasta and gravy. Quantity but not quality. read more

Disappointed. If you're not a regular you'll be ignored. 3 parties sat before we even got drinks. Napkins and drinks delivered slowly. Wait staff was friendly but so slow. We got the shrimp giardina... Nasty, honestly. Tasteless but with a strong tang of fish. Crab balls were the best part, fried and tasty. Ambiance is that of any small town place. This was our first time here and I was hopeful. I was not disappointed everything we ordered was great the one thing I would change is fresh bacon on the baked potatoes instead of fake bits. The crab meat augratin was exactly that an awesome augratin sauce brought me back to to my mothers potatoes augratin. At most places they would smother the crab meat with tons of cheese and grease from the cheese. This is a gem of a restaurant we will be coming back. read more

Best kept secret in Marrero!!! I'm so sorry I started munching on the food before I snapped the pic. But let me tell you this food was delicious!!!! I had the Eggplant Orleans w/garlic butter pasta. I could eat this everyday!!!! My husband raved about the oyster poboy (not pictured because he ate it too fast) Now, it's not a fancy place by any means...the decor is a bit clunky (Zydeco style) and the ambiance is lacking. I wish they would place smooth jazz or zydeco music to set the mood a bit better and jazz up the decor a little. With all of that said, I will be back! read more

We didn't come on the All You Can Eat night, as that is apparently reserved for Monday and Tuesday. However, I did order the catfish plate, and I'm kind of glad it wasn't AYCE night - I barely finished a regular order! It was good, but was also huge. Their seafood dinners come with 2 sides of your choice. The sides are honestly what earned them only 3 stars... the seafood is good, and worth visiting for, but the sides are "meh" at best. I was excited to see jambalaya as a side dish option. It wasn't spicy. There weren't any large chunks of.. well... anything. It was almost more like spanish rice than jambalaya. The mac and cheese wasn't anything spectacular either. The boyfriend had fries with his Oyster and Catfish plate. They were okay. The service was friendly, although a bit slow with the drink refills at times. Since this is local for us, we will come back. It's probably not worth the trip for those who live outside of the Marrero area, though, unless you really, really want some all you can eat Catfish. read more

I would give this 4 1/2 stars if I could I come here alot too. It is a no frills seafood italian hamburgersteak restaurant that is really good! MMmm.. I bring my out of town guest here all the time for seafood. Its off the beaten path (yikes!) but it is a delicious haven. The highlights, Fridays, all you can eat seafood. Boom. Ill take pics next time im there for that with the Mrs. Really good fish, great potato salad, good salad bar, hush puppies, fried shrimp and stuffed crab. Im forgetting something but just keep in mind for lunch on fridays, hit this place! Dinners, when I usually got with the family, we have our regulars. The meatball poboys are HUGE and delish! The app we usually get is fried eggplant sticks. MMm. The burgers are really good. Homemade patties. Boom. Hamburger steak...oofa. There really isnt anything you can get here and go wrong. The crowd is a older set, there are daily regulars. A kind gentle group . Very patient with my sometimes psycho girls that cant sit still. An Ipod usually fixes that :-) There is NOTHING here for kids to do. IM talking old school A&G cafeteria style. I take that back, they have a gumball machine by the exit ;-) I like that alot, great time to talk and spend with the family, combined with really good food. The wait staff is very nice and the owner is there all the time. You have to watch out though around church times though. It gets crowded sometimes and the few girls they have working can sometimes get overwhelmed. Best times to go is evenings. By all means make sure you check this place out. Jake's is fine. They do everything ok, but nothing Phenomenally. The fried fish and shrimp are good, however the specialty fried items (stuffed shrimp, mushroom, crab) all tend to taste the same. The dining experience is uninspiring and the wait staff, while friendly, arent that good. read more

Eddie I'm sorry to say my friend, but you have no taste whatsoever, I had the hamburger steak and it was cold the first time they brought it out to me. So I told the waitress it was cold and she took it to the back. After about 2 minutes, they brought it back to me. It was pipinghot. Now i can't believe a restaurant like that would just stick my food in a microwave to heat their customers food up. I was disappointed by that so we decided to go somewhere else. Went here for lunch today. Buffet was great. Small salad bar, red or white beans, rice, fried chicken, fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and delicious brown gravy and pudding deserts. Man this is what the doctor ordered. All this for $10.85 drink and tax included...a bargain. Anytime I'm anywhere near this part of the westbank at lunchtime I'm heading back here for sure. Seafood Gumbo is very good Chicken and sausage is a little to greasy for my taste Fried Chicken is fried to order so be prepared to wait but also be prepared for a well fried and hot chicken Roast Beef Po-boys are very good roast is very tender and the bread is on the crunchy side which is how I like it with gravy from the roast YUM Potato salad is bland for my taste but if you like it simple then by all means try it Fried eggplant sticks are always great so are the onion rings I've eaten here often for many many many years and only when they have a change of cook has the food been mediocre otherwise their menu is very good I have probably had everything on it at one time or the other. Hands down the absolute best fried seafood I've ever eaten! I get the half shrimp half catfish and I am never disappointed! They give you a ton of food, enough to split, but I never do because it's so delicious!! I eat every bite and leave there stuffed! Anytime I'm in the mood for fried fish/shrimp I'm going to Jake's! On Thurs 10/22/20 my friend and I dined in a our once favorite restaurant Jakes seafood in Marrero,LA as we routinely did we requested our regular waitress as we thought that should be considered a compliment for whatever reason she was a dr. jekyll and mr. hyde she has never treated us this way before the service was horrible as was the food and drinks Anna would normally bring my tea with another cup of ice as Jakes never serves sweet tea to my suprise Anna brings my tea with ice I begin to add what I believed to be sugar after tasting my tea she mixed in salt in the sugar bowl after bringing this to her attention she laughed then took her time bringing another tea to our table as she brings our food chicken fried steak with brown gravy she informs us"the gravy is very salty just dip it like ketchup " my friend asked for butter never to receive it Anna never returned back to our table as we were leaving we were met by her what she thought would be her tip of course I won't tip for horrible service and poor quality food and beverages I will spread the word Jakes seafood and restaurant is THE WORST EVER LET'S NOT SPEAK OF THE LOCATION WHICH IS A HOT SPOT FOR ILLICIT ACTIVITIES AND CUSTOMER HAVE BEEN ROBBED IN THE PARKING AREA ...ANNA JOKES ON YOU YOU DIDN'T GET THAT TIP AND JAKES I WILL SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS HORRID ESTABLISHMENT YOU CALL A RESTAURANT. ... not worthy of a half of star but unfortunately I am forced to give them one so in effort to spare someone else the trouble we have experienced I am forced to give one star for your ability to read this rating and avoid this horrid establishment .... Yes there are no frills here- not the greatest location but the food was delectable! Our group of 14 first where easily accommodated then more of our cruise group came and tables where easily and happily joined with ours making us a very long table of 28! Waitress did a great job taking care all of us. Got to meet Jake and some of his regulars and were treated as one of the family! Amazingly sweet people...will remember the kindness and (delicious surprise) they gave us as a highlight of our entire trip. Food- was insane... This is a great little neighborhood restaurant that has been there a long time. They make fantastic crabcakes, which they call stuffed crab, and offer a daily specials as well as a set menu. Although she food is very fresh and the price points are excellent. And I am a native of New Orleans and I do know good and bad seafood, and this is good seafood. read more

I've been coming here for years and although the place is no frills, the food is excellent. I have NEVER had a bad meal here. The fried shrimp is the best on the westbank and the fried fish is excellent as well. Wonderful eggplant sticks, potato salad and their garden salad with their homemade ranch dressing is awesome as well. My only complaint is how quiet the place is. Pipe in some music or put a couple TV's in the dining rooms. I've never been to a restaurant that is this quiet. I feel for anybody coming here who has kids. read more

I was craving a good shrimp poboy and decided on Jake's and was not disappointed. The shrimp were well seasoned and there were plenty on the sandwich. The only thing that keeps me from giving this poboy a 5 star rating is because the bread was a little soft but after putting it under the broiler at home it had the perfect crunch I like. read more

I decided to give it another go... big mistake! I ordered my food Togo and brought it back to work. again I ordered the red beans and pork chops when I opened my box and mixed up my beans. .. wait for it... A ROACH! Completely disgusting! This place should be shut down! I will never go back or never recommend this place to anyone.
