Wow! What a find thanks to the Hotel staff! A worker who also was staying at the same hotel said I had to try it! Not disappointing at all. Short staffed but not a problem as the manager coached her team to success. Everyone was flying around helping with all diners! I ordered an ice cold beer to start and ordered one of the pick your fish dishes - choice of three fish (redfish, mahi, or red snapper) prepared three different ways. Thai, Creola or St Catherine! I went with the redfish creola! The picture says it all! Perfectly seasoned and cooked! Lump crabmeat and tomato on top with a butter sauce. The side of fries and green beans were perfect! The green bean cook was something else with garlic to boot! A great compliment to the dish! The restaurant is small but nicely decorated and a lot of fun. The Cuban was very dry needed more mustard and the pork should be less dried out. The alligator bombs are very rich in flavor. Crunchy outside, but needed something to cut through that rich flavor. The border town salad is great. If I were to say anything just that the meat chunks could be bigger. The seared tuna was an amazing. Melts in your mouth, but a slight fishy flavor. This is a surprising gem in St. Bernard Parish. It has some typical dishes, like burgers and fried seafood. It has some international dishes, like quesadillas and Cuban sandwiches. And it has some interesting fusion dishes, like the "Sushiritto" and Cajun edamame. I've eaten here a couple times now and haven't had a bad dish. I got the shrimp and grits, which needed to be warmed up a little more but the taste made up for it all! It wasn't spice but had so much seasoning, the corn grits were cooked to the perfect texture. The shrimp were cooked just right also. Everything about this dish was top notch. I do think the serving could have been a little bigger but still amazing. I ordered a side of coconut rice and it was also delicious. Cooked perfectly, great subtle sweet coconut taste and I just added a pinch of salt to mine. My husband got the Cancun burger and loved it, he said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had. My fiancée and myself stopped in for brunch on a Saturday. I got the stuffed French toast with berries. It was phenomenal and not too sweet! My fiancée got the Docville pasta (not pictured) it was delicious as well. The service was great. She checked on us several times even though they were really busy. The restaurant is a great option for brunch which is rare in the parish as well as a nice dinner. They have daily specials that fuse international with Cajun/creole. I have never written a restaurant review and hate writing this one, given that Crave came highly recommended. I went here for birthday lunch with my girlfriend. She ordered a quesadilla, I had the lunch special - steak topped with lump crab and cream sauce. Her quesadilla came out cold, and my steak with "lump crab and cream sauce" was a joke. There was a speck of crab about the size of pencil eraser in maybe half a teaspoon of sauce over a very mediocre steak with bland vegetables. The Brunch at Crave is excellent. Chad has another winning combination of excellent food with a fun and friendly atmosphere for his customers. The owner/Chef is always at his restaurant and he is working alongside his staff, visiting with customers and keeping things going perfectly. He is so very dedicated to his business, staff, customers, family and customers. The Brunch menu is soooo yummy and versatile. So far we've been every Sunday and plan to try everything on the menu. I'm a m pancake girl and the strawberry and Blueberry pancakes are so light, fluffy and delicious with a strawberry or Blueberry compote and sprinkled with powered sugar and a dollop of homemade whip cream with a sprig of mint. Check. Maybe you just want a salad or something deep fried. Check and check! Definitely a good experience all around. Though, come early and be prepared to wait especially during King Cake season. Why? Because they roll and deep fry their king cakes here! It doesn't make any sense how good and crispy this dish was. But at the same time, how have I not thought of this before. The king cake spring rolls was definitely my favorite bite of the night though you may want to proceed with caution. Just drove from the nineth ward to eat at crave and was turned away at 8:40 due to the kitchen being closed but a couple was sitting down eating. I called first to no answer and online they supposedly closed at 10. I walked in on all the staff on their phones. Two were pleasant but that's bad business. Our dinner at Crave was a wonderful detour. We made the ride from the Westbank with plans to dine and enjoy live music at a restaurant in Arabi. But after being turned away because orders in the kitchen were backed up, we were forced to look elsewhere. Someone exiting the restaurant suggested Crave a few miles down the road in Meraux. Everything we ordered was delicious. We were a party of 5 and everyone ordered something different. We passed around and got a taste of 5 different entrees. Pasta Romero, Venezia Chicken, Thai MahiMahi, Fried Catfish and Cajun Cheesesteak Panini. All were delicious and did not disappoint with the only exception being the Panini which was on the dry side. I would definitely return and we are grateful to the people who made the recommendation to give them a try. read more

It's rare that I giv a place 5 stars. But this one just might be my new local favorite in Chalmette. My first time ordering from Crave was tonight. I ordered the mozzarella Wedges, the Fish Esplanade (Mahi), and the King Cake Spring Rolls (based on the Facebook reviews). Oh em geeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Y'all, the wedges were good, but that marinera sauce is on point and sooo good. I could eat that and just bread. The Fish Esplanade (Mahi) was spectacular!!!! The entire plate was so light and refreshing but also so filling. Hint: Squeeze that lemon wedge over it before eating. The green beans were nice and crisp. The seafood rice mixed with the pesto sauce. The artichoke and red peppers - ahhh delicious. This is a nice savory dish. Ok so now for the finale - let me start this way. The vanilla bean ice cream is very light and guilt free. The icing with sprinkles - I didn't need it, but it was okay. But that king cake spring roll. Makes you rethink king cakes in the way king cakes should taste. Me and my kids just looked at each and questioned our favorite king cakes and none have come close to what these two little rolls taste like. It's not too cinnamon-y, it's not too sugary, it's just right. Hell, just give me the filling and that will give me visions of Mardi Gras dancing in my head. Allow me to rave about Crave! Fallon, our server, was exceptional. Let's start off with that. Pleasant, lovely & extremely knowledgeable about the menu, from the specials and to the well thought menu. Now, let's talk food. Did you look at the photos and read the menu? A carefully curated selection of varied international cuisine. It seemed very ambitious for a small locally owned restaurant and in an inconspicuous location. To our delight, they do them all beautifully! It was very hard to choose! We started with Bayou Spring Rolls. The flavors were delectable. We both ordered a small spinach salad with walnuts, shaved onions and blue cheese,.We ordered Lee's Shrimp, which was Sautéed Cajun seasoned barbecued shrimp over bbq shrimp infused cream sauce and served over roasted corn grits. The flavors were great! Subtly seasoned and very delicious. It was really hard to choose and in the end I choose chicken Venezia. This was a perfectly cooked pan-toasted chicken breast topped with a delicious muffaletta of artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and sun-dried tomatoes drizzled with and served with olive scampi sauce. It came with roasted potatoes and sautéed asparagus however I chose the sautéed green beans and roasted potatoes. This dinner was absolutely perfect in every way and we so enjoyed it. We went back the next day and would have returned the next day for lunch if we had had the time. Crave has specials served Friday through Sunday and Fallon suggested that they were a great thing to order. . I took a picture of the special menu and they also post it on their Facebook site.. Crave is............... interesting. Located way out in the nowheresland of outside New Orleans, it feels like the chefs couldn't decide what nationality of food they should serve, so they did them all. While preparing all of these dishes some of them got tired of waiting and decided to just climb in bed with some other food. And that's how you get a SushiRitto. Or so the legend goes. The long and short of it: 1. Food. In the mood for Mexican? Great. Want to stick to Cajun because you're in New Orleans? Super. Do either or get a Cajun seafood enchilada or tamale. In the mood for more of an Asian/Mexican mashup? Go SushiRitto (with coconut rice because why not). There's a little bit of everything here with plenty of crossover episodes which led to us being kind of indecisive with so many options. Still, I can't deny that everything we had was tasty, you're just going to have to be a little adventurous. 2. Atmosphere. Crave has kind of a neighborhood Chili's kind of vibe. You know the type, stuff all over the walls, funny signs everywhere, enough seating for most of the town. Cozy in its own, rural Louisiana way. 3. Location. Located way out in Meraux, I undoubtedly would never have come here if I wasn't staying at a friends house in Arabi. If you've never heard of either of those places, there's a reason for that. While good, not worth the trip unless you're already out there. 4. Price. $10 - $15 for an entree, $5ish for an appetizer. Throw on a drink or 2 and your looking at your super standard $20esque dinner. Not great, not terrible. I actually think Crave is a pretty nice find way out there in Louisiana, if for nothing else than the variety it offers. I'll start out by saying wow! I was fortunate enough to have my non- Yelping sister tell me about Crave, as she works in St. Bernard and knows the local restaurant scene. So this past Friday (07 SEP 2018), our party of 5 decided to give Crave a try; and boy was that a good decision. A quick perusal of Yelp confirmed my sister's assessment in that this place was definitely legit. This was additionally confirmed by the large number of cars in the parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised at the decor upon entering. Although not lavish, it was tastefully decorated and definitely inviting. Self-touted as a Cajun / Creole, Asian fusion restaurant, I was very excited to see such a varied menu. There is truly something for everyone here as the menu has incredible appetizers, signature salads, specialty sandwiches & wraps, burgers flacos, tacos & quesadillas, Far East Inspired (Asian) dishes, South of the Border (Mexican) inspired dishes, Italian dishes, comfort food, grilled fish, fried seafood platters, numerous side dishes and a good kid's menu. I was a little tentative about such a large menu, but when our food arrived, I knew that Crave was on their A-game. My son's chicken chunks dinner off the kid's menu was ok, as most kid's menu items are not extravagant so that the majority of kiddos will eat them. My wife got the Bang Bang Shrimp, which consisted of crispy fried shrimp tossed in a sweet chili sauce & sesame seeds; served with coconut rice and steamed broccoli. Fortunately she has a small appetite and I was able to sample three shrimp. They were awesome with just enough sweet heat, and the shrimp were a very nice size. Nice presentation as well. I got the Shanghai salad. This spring mix salad has tomatoes, shaved red onions, shredded carrots, pickled cucumbers & glazed pecans in a cucumber wasabi dressing. It is topped with a mound of snow crab salad and sesame crusted tuna (cooked or seared to order). This salad was absolutely delicious and the presentation was awesome. Thankfully the dressing was served on the side, as they give you three (3) small containers. I only used one (1) and the heat was enough to clear my sinuses, so don't pour all three on your salad unless you know you can handle the heat. My brother-in-law got the Tamales on the Bayou, which he said was very good. Unfortunately I can only go by his opinion as I did not try them. Lastly, my nephew got the kid's hamburger with sweet potato fries. He stated the burger was a little salty, but again, I am only going by what he said. And to reiterate, it is my opinion that kid's menu items are not a restaurant's main focus. Our server was pretty attentive and kudos for refilling our drinks a few times. The dining room is large and can accommodate a lot of people. Large groups are welcome as there was a table setup for 24 guests while we were there. All in all I really like this place and definitely plan on a future trip. read more

One of the best meals we had while staying in Chalmette, by far. They've got a nice mix of food options including Asian, American, Mexican and Italian dishes which gives everyone (even picky eaters) many options to enjoy! If you don't do order anything else I brag about, get the firecracker wonton appetizer. The spicy mayo was so delicious that we honestly could have just eaten that! My husband decided to branch out and order the "Sushiritto" which is basically a flour tortilla with tuna, their bang-bang shrimp (phenomenal), snow crab, rice, fresh avocado, cucumbers and eel sauce. He asked for some of the spicy mayo to go with it and wow- I wish I would have ordered this! It was like an explosion of flavors - sushi, crisp veggies, and a delicious warm flour tortilla all dipped into the spicy mayo....yummy! I decided to order the Thai chicken and our waiter recommended to have the chicken coasted with panko crumbs and I'm so glad I took him up on that because the chicken breast was crunchy, sweet, moist and tender. Probably the best chicken I've had in the New Orleans area. The coconut rice was also good but needed salt and the broccoli was completely unseasoned and uncut which made it hard to eat.
