This was honestly the perfect stop we were in and out in about an hour. Customer service was great. We did have two burgers come out wrong at our table. They took care of it promptly with no questions asked. The burgers were great I opted for, "The Jake." I added thousand island dressing and cheese. We went for a late lunch, and only one server was working. The restaurant had several dirty tables, again only one person working the front. I ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich-which was supposed to be spiced but it was not, but still tasted good. My daughter got the Jakes sampler and liked the stuffed jalapeños and mozzarella sticks. The fried pickles, which I've had before, were good but clumped together. The rest of the people at our table ordered a single burger, cheese quesadilla, and a chicken fried stake-which she said was so good. Good lunch or dinner stop between Dallas and Austin with easy on/off access to I-35. The Bottlecap Burger features two beef patties topped with cheese and breaded jalapeño chips. Their signature poppyseed buns are wonderfully soft and fluffy. Fries were also decent, although slightly on the brown side. Several beers on tap and even more available by the can or bottle. I was so excited to see the Jakes in Waco as I have great memories of visiting Jakes for awesome burgers in Dallas years ago. We stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon roadtrip back to Austin. The atmosphere inside is clean and open with a good sized patio outside which is right next to the highway but has plenty of seating for groups and TVs. The Jake burger was tasty, and I really enjoyed the onion rings. The kids enjoyed the kids burger and Mac and cheese and loved that chips and queso is an option for a kids side. Service was a little slow but overall we had a good experience and would recommend this spot for a good burger when in the area. read more

My buffalo chicken sandwich was the best I have ever had. The sandwich was not messy like others I've had at other places. Our server was attentive, he repeated our orders back to confirm them. Really wanted to like this place. We've been to the one in Ft Worth and it was really great. Maybe since this is a new location they have some things to work out but I expected more from an already established chain restaurant. The atmosphere was really great. That was probably the best part. I like how it feels like a sit down place but it also feels very casual. The patio is also really nice. I like how they have a decent variety of draft beers on tap. Our server was really nice. He seemed pretty attentive to our needs and kept up with our table. Our drinks went fairly low a couple of times but usually not for very long. The food was really disappointing though. Our tarot tots tasted like funnel cakes, which was weird. I'm assuming fried them in the same oil as a dessert item. My black bean burger was super dry but not as dry as the poppy seed bun it was sandwiched between. My burger also had literally no sauce on it. I didn't take a photo of that burger unfortunately. I'm not sure if dry buns is Jake's thing but this place had super dry buns. If it's their style then maybe it's just not for me. My significant other order the patty melt. The bread here was also dry but not as dry as my bun. Herr burger tasted a lot more flavorful and was more moist than mine. Honestly, I would give them another shot since maybe it was an off night, but if it's like this next time then I will likely go to Billy Bobs for my burger fix in Waco. My husband's co-worker highly recommended we eat here. He knows how much my husband loves a good burger. Unfortunately, it did not meet all the hype. My husband had the traditional double cheeseburger w/ fries and I ordered the party melt w/ onion rings. The food came to us rather quicky after ordering which proved to be a bad sign. Our burgers were greasy, the bread on my patty melt wasn't toasted so all the grease just eased through on my hands. There was a slight unpleasant smell to the meat and I couldn't get past it, so I left more than half of my meal. My husband gave his burger a 2.5 out of 5. He said the meat tastes like a frozen patty flipped over a few times and fries were salty. We were really bummed it didn't meet the hype. Great Food and great service! We were driving through Waco and wanted something a little better than fast food. This was perfect! They were pretty busy, so it took a little bit to get our food. (I give them a bit of grace because they are still pretty new.... Only have been open for about a month) We got the Jake's Special Burger and the Bacon and Blue Burger with cheddar fries.. everything was very good and very friendly service. My son and I came to Jake's on our monthly burger outing. The restaurant was full and lively so we waited about 10 minutes for a table. The manager personally cleaned a table for us to expedite the process. The dining room is a typical diner/burger joint atmosphere; noisy with good music but not so loud we couldn't talk. Our waitress was quick and charming and got our order right away. She was helpful by suggesting we get the nacho cheese on our cheese fries and promptly turned in our order. We had a short friendly conversation with the manager about the various hot sauces on the table. She recommended the spicy ketchup and the Saddleburn pepper sauce. If you're into hot stuff, definitely try some. Beware, though, it definitely burns. My patty melt was juicy with plenty of grilled onions and a great remoulade sauce that gave it a touch of sweetness. I'm a fan of toasted rye bread and Jake's toasted mine to crispy perfection. My son had the Cheddar Steer burger, your basic bacon cheese burger, on Jake's signature poppy seed bun. The bun was a little sweet and held up well to the juicy patty and crisp bacon. We shared an order of cheese fries that were ok but not outstanding. The ketchup suggested by the manger was a hit being spicy and tangy all at once. Jake's is your typical college campus burger joint. We enjoyed our meal and the experience. However, our food was slow to come out and the kitchen forgot our fries initially then brought the wrong fries. Both the manager and our waitress were quick to get things moving, though. Also, the table set up (ketchup and all) was in desperate need of cleaning. If you're looking for good food and aren't particular, Jake's is well worth a visit. read more
