You won't know the market is there, because it is curiously NOT listed on the Parkville Market's…read morewebsite. But if you walk to the far left side of the market in search of the restrooms, you'll see a sign and a downward staircase that will bring you here. It carries food items from Spain, Italy, and the Mediterranean area. Lots of canned fish, pasta, oils, vinegars, crackers, sauces, olives , meats and cheese and the like. It reminded me a lot of the little grocery store inside the old Costa Del Sol restaurant. There were some freebie cheese and cracker samples, and a sweet and friendly young lady there to greet us. We were the only one in the store, and I sure hope the market adds The Grocer to their website and list of vendors to encourage more customers to visit. Surprising to us, was that the pricing was very reasonable!! We picked up a jar of fig jam for $6.49 and a big 25 ounce jar of Fra Diavlo sauce for $4.99. I am certain that every future trip we make to the Parkville Market will end with a walk down that staircase into the Grocer. Hope to see you there !

The Grocer, now upstairs at Parkville Market, is a very small specialty food market. They have…read morespecialty food items such as thin-sliced Iberico Chorizo, "intensely" flavored Spanish Olive Oil, Pure Vermont Maple Syrup, chocolate, black rice, fresh pasta, vinegars, cheese, jarred olives and peppers and splurge beverages. The Grocer is too small to provide a one stop shopping experience. Rather, you're more likely to go there when you're already at the Market and you need a few high end items for guests or niche home cooking. Example, if you're cooking a Spanish-themed meal and you want better sherry vinegar and Spanish olive oil than you can buy at your near home grocery, you can get that at the Parkville Market Grocer. That can be very convenient.

This is not just a spice shop. For me, it's an activity. Went with my mom after eating at harvest…read moredown the street. I don't have photos of all the spices she got. We smelled a million lol they don't have a million but they have a lot. Make sure to smell all the various cinnamon bc it's so cool how different they are. I won't tell you my favorite bc you have to decide yours. O got some basics like sweet paprika, coriander but got a Paris spice that to me smells like I need to cook salmon stat. Get the Balti- put to. On chicken thighs and bake. Trust me it's the best. I go through more of that than anything. I also got a chicken stock base, which I haven't. I got the dip powder which you put into like the shower cream to make dip. It's kind of like when you make ranch dressing from the powder which I like to do, but this just makes it a little bit different because the ranch gets boring. And it is very good. Everybody is so nice. And will answer questions happily.

The employees here are so friendly and helpful. The negative comments here are from losers that probably only season their food with salt (if at all!) and have never even stepped foot in the store. Penzeys has every spice you can think of and even better blends. I love their taco seasoning, sunny Paris, and sweet curry blend. They often have great sales and freebies so make sure to sign up for their email list!

A sweets place for social media…read more Came to this side of west Hartford because a new dumpling spot opened up and this place was right next to it. Because we were already on an adventure, might as well try one more place as well. Inside has all the decor of an influencer styled place. Fake grass on the wall, lots of bright popping colors and plenty of places to snag the selfie. The menu is laden with sweets of every shape and size. Everything with loud pictures and kinda pricy price tags for just sweets. Their milkshakes were mostly 20 dollars and were towers of candy, donuts, and decadence. We did a small smattering of their truffles and a couple of their other sweets. A Dubai chocolate square and a chocolate ganache layered brownie. The place is very concerned about outward appearances, but what about the flavor? That I can report is actually pretty good. The truffle is a brigadeiro truffle. It's a soft and kinda chewy truffle, like a nougat and mochi hybrid. They were very pretty and flavorful, but not what one would call a truffle in the traditional sense. The Dubai chocolate square was dusted in gold dust and has the expected pistachio crème and phyllo inside. The chocolate was creamy and wonderful in flavor and consistency. The issue was the size, the chocolate shell kinda shattered on the bite and led to a bit of a mess in the car. The brownie was good. The chocolate ganache was delicious and the brownie was a little overdone. But the ganache really helped salvage the dish. It's pricy, is very much a place you go to for pictures of you and your entourage living their best life. But the quality is there and below the glitz and glamour there's a solid sweets shop here. For some, the facade may be a detractor, but they got good sweets so they are worth a try.

Very accommodating to allergies I must say! I got the coconut bowl ice cream. Wish it was coconut ice cream. I didn't think mine was anything special. My dad enjoyed his. It was big and enough to share for 2 ! Price range .. a bit pricey . In my opinion . Ice cream ranges from 16-19.00. They do have great looking ice cream selections. Some with cake , brownie in it . But I will stick with the sweets! Those make a great gift for yourself or to someone and they have some gluten free ones! Staff have been wonderful both times! It's a cute shop!
