Chicken and Gunz will be closing soon so hit them up while you still can. They're located in the Cartopia food cart pods. Reason we didn't do dinner there is because they only sell chicken and/or gunz. So you have to be in the mood for one or the the other. We just stopped by to get an order of their Guns(crispy potatoes) with pickled onion on them. They were perfectly brown with a satisfying crunch. We shared a large order and it came with 2 sides of Peruvian aji(creamy jalapeño, garlic, lime, & cilantro) perfect for dipping, not spicy at all. It had a great flavor to it and was a great side. I recommend taking some gunz a few onions then dipping them in the sauce and Bon Appétit. Parking can be rough, some tight streets in that area.

Had to try their wood smoked wings. Flavorful with a lemon pepper type dry rub. The chicken was a bit dried out but the sauces on the side helped. Honestly you don't even need the sauce that's how tasty it was. 1 wing is the flat and the drum.

Anthony was working hard, and the place was busy!! Delicious chicken and potatoes, we got the aji sauce, says spicy but isn't. Definitely could be a lot spicer. Overall we loved the decor of the cart and the entire meal was on point and neat. If you want flavorful and soft chicken with some optional amazing potatoes.... Do not skip this place!

Tender and flavorful chicken with delicious sauce! Will recommend increasing spice level on the sauce. Definitely to try when visiting Cartopia esp at night time and sit by the fire for a great ambiance. Awesome food and fast service.

I've heard great things about the food cart scene in Portland, so I was excited to try Chickens and Guns. I ended up ordering the quarter bird with the guns and Peruvian aji. The guns here, which are crispy potatoes, are so good!! I loved the seasoning and the crispness of them. My main complaint is that I feel like the chicken to potato ratio was pretty bad because I only got about 2 small pieces of chicken but a lot of potatoes. The chicken itself could've also been more flavorful, but it was still enjoyable as is. Overall, I feel like for the quality and quantity food, this was overpriced for what it was. The restaurant itself is moreso a stand in Cartopia and there's not much service other than when you order and pick up your food. When I went, there was no line so service was pretty quick.

Came to check out this spot with the family, the four of us (girls 8 & 11) shared a whole bird. The minute we got our food, I couldn't wait to dig in. The chicken was piping hot, moist, and flavorful. I really dig the chimichurri sauce, dipped the potato in it as well. Not a whole lot to say, this was a great meal and reasonably priced, would absolutely come again.

1/4 Bird & Potatoes w/ garlic Peruvian Aji Pros: yum yum yum!!! Seasoned well without the sauce. The sauce takes up a notch. Lots of potatoes. Cons: none

Solid spicy chicken wings! We drove out to their brick and mortar location and totally enjoyed the scenery and lunch. Bloody maria boot was super spicy and made with tequila. My wife had a Breakside Wanderlust IPA. We sort of hit a bit of everything with the wings, 1/4 chicken, potato salad and short ribs. Everything was super tasty and I would order again. Interior and exterior decor was rustic and fun with super cheesy old old school country music playing. The bathroom was clean and totally cracked me up because the walls had framed 1970ish Semi trucks with models of the time posed next to them. Service was friendly and fast! Fun place to check out!

Chicken and guns was pretty good. The food was decent and the potatoes were good too. I loved the pickled onions the most (but I just love pickled onions) The food was pretty good but just a bit dry. The cartopia place has a nice ambiance. I liked the vibe of the food truck too. Our food came out pretty quickly, not a super long wait. Also - they had no line. The person working the food truck was nice too Overall, it was a good experience

This food cart is worth going out of your way for if you're in Rip City. The food is always on point and full of flavors. The guys running it are always nice and polite and because it's usually raining it makes enjoying a hot tasty dish that much more enjoyable!

This is my favorite chicken. It is so good. It doesn't really even need the sauce but the green sauce is amazing too. The guy who runs it is super cool and offers great service. And the whole place at night is a vibe that makes you feel alive and part of the city.

I work across the street from this cart pod. I should come more often. The food is great, service is as well. Lots of seating, plus a big tent for when it rains.

From the beginning, when I asked simple questions about drink pricing, the manager (Monica) responded in a rude and dismissive manner rather than providing clear information. At no point were we informed about a 21+ bracelet requirement upon entry, and I was not given one by staff responsible for distributing them. Later in the evening, my friends and I briefly entered the restroom together due to a line and were not aware that only one person was permitted at a time. Instead of calmly addressing the situation, the manager attempted to force open the bathroom door while my friend was using it. The situation escalated when we tried to close the door for privacy, but we complied once instructed to come out after my friend finished. Afterwards, when I asked why the manager had an attitude since our arrival, she grabbed at my bracelet and repeatedly entered my personal space while speaking to me aggressively. While I was speaking with another employee, Monica approached me from behind and made physical contact by intentionally bumping into me with her shoulder. An older male staff member also pushed a minor in our group while attempting to remove us from the venue, rather than calmly letting us know to leave. Additionally, another employee pushed my phone while I was trying to take a picture of the manager. The staff continued to laugh and joke about the situation. We did not deserve this treatment. At no point was it clearly communicated that we were required to leave. Staff began physically intervening after being directed by the manager to remove us. We were escorted out before the performance began, and no refund was provided. While I understand that they have rules and expectations for guests, I believe situations should be handled professionally and respectfully with clear communication and without physical contact to avoid escalations. Prior to this event happening me and my friends came in with positive fun energy and we were just trying to enjoy our night out. I have documented the incident with video, photos, and witness accounts and will be reviewing appropriate next steps. I did not have the opportunity to try the food, but based on this experience alone, I would not return or recommend this establishment.

They started us off with a lovely cold soup, if I recall correctly leek and potato, and from there moved right into a lineup of heavy-hitting dishes that were packed with flavor. The beef tongue a la vinagreta was absolutely dynamite. Each piece of carpaccio was cut to the perfect thickness, which let it stand up beautifully to the punchiness of the spicy horseradish, acidic caper vinaigrette, earthy fried sweetbreads, and creamy ensalada rusa (potato salad). The clam chowder came out next, and while it was good as a standalone chowder, it was the one course that fell a little short for me. With smoked bone marrow in the mix and at the fairly high price point, I expected it to be more of a knockout, but it unfortunately just did not quite come together the way I hoped as the piece of marrow felt more decorative than additive to the flavors overall. Of course, we had to order one of the asados, so we opted for one of my absolute favorite cuts in the skirt steak and it did not disappoint! The steak was incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and paired beautifully with their house made chimichurri sauce. Overall, it was a fantastic meal with great portions relative to the prices, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning next time I'm in the area to try some of the other offerings that we simply did not have the stomach space to try on this visit.

There were many large seating area available. One main cedar table was a big attraction. There is a fireplace with a table by it We got a table. I ordered a Borgona, fruit puree juices mix with Sprite. Never had one, but sounded really good. It came and it was delicious and fruity for a mocktail. We ordered a shrimp ceviche and octopus skewers to start out with. The Shrimp Ceviche was very delicious and it was something that I was very happy to share it with my friends. It was a big portion of shrimp cocktail with salsa on the bottom and these large sized blue chips. It was so good that we ate it quickly. Octopus skewers was a tad charred. Yet very delicious especially if you eat it with the pineapple together. Brings out the flavor of the pineapples quite well. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos and Mole Shrimp Tacos which came in 3. I absolutely loved street tacos filled with good fresh ingredients. And both of these hot the spot. The pork belly was an absolute great flavor of the pork belly. The Shrimp was delicious. Cook perfectly and easy to devour quickly. DeFuego Nachos had Jalapenos. But wasn't listed. The nachos were delicious and it was quickly devoured. Wings came in 4 wings with garlic parmesan with carrots and celery and ranch on the platter. Heavily garlic on the wings yet very delicious. Half wedge salad was a surprise how much there is in the salad. A lot of fresh veggies there with cherry tomatoes and sliced radishes in it. I had a absolutely fun experience celebrating my birthday here. DeFuego had Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm, seven days out of the week. Seems the Happy Hour here is very popular. You have 21 appetizers to choose from on the Happy Hour Menu. There are Mocktails, and any drinks you want available. Definitely will come back again.

Shoot. Last night I took my boyfriend here to celebrate a special event & we left so disappointed!…read moreWe got there at 7:15 & we were stuck there for over 2 hours! I ordered 2 things and both came out wrong. Our waitress spoke very loudly and we could hear her having long personal conversations with people a couple tables away from us for 10+ minutes at a time, several times. While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.
