    Fried chicken
    Ben L.

Ended up at a work function where they catered from this place and the food was absolutely fantastic. The rasta pasta has got to be one of the best I've ever had it was creamy, you could taste the tenderness of the chicken and the chicken had a smoky taste as well. Fried chicken was good and had a kick to it as well. Plantains were very sweet.

It's not what it use to be but the lines are still long. Not everyone knows what they want and yet they are still going to rush you lol. This place has been here for many many years and it's good to see it still in business.

The vegetable patty was my favorite! I like that it's made with whole and not minced up vegetables. Flavorful and well baked. Unfortunately part of my order was wrong & I didn't get to try their chickpea patty. On the other hand, the BBQ chicken patty was better than I expected. My friend tried their Ackee patty and it was her first and last time trying it. The coco bread seemed uncooked, definitely couldn't eat it straight out the bag. I would come back for veggie patties and hopefully next time the chickpea patty will make it into my bag.

Lunch special - stew, rice and peas

$8 lunch set with choice of protein, rice and a veg side. The food was fresh and a nice portion. Great for a quick stop. No seating, just a service window.

Went the on Good Friday and got, bun & cheese, hard dough bread, Pattie's: Veggie ( but they gave me calaloo), spicy beef, chicken and coco bread. Everything was so good! Went back again this month and got Pattie's and the Piña Colada cake (it was ok, the shredded coconut was dry), and two coco bread. Then, I order via GrubHub and we got Oxtail with rice and peas and salad, and Stewed Snapper with Rasta Pasta and salad, and hard dough bread, sweet plantains. I must say that we didn't even have to ask for extra oxtail gravy nor did we have to pay extra. Can you tell we love this place!!! Good food and reasonable pricing! 4/5

We ordered the jerk patty with coco bread and cheese because I've never had that type of patty before. The order came out quick and it was easy to order. There was no cheese on my patty and the coco bread was a bit dry. The party itself was decent and had good flavor.

Jamaican Flavors~Baldwin This is a 5 star patty, the best patty crust in or out of Jamaica, I don't care what anyone thinks, that is my opinion. The flake on this crust is pure perfection! It crumbles nicely with each bite and holds the perfect ratio of meat to crust, with just enough room to slightly bubble over when baking to let out the steam so be careful, these will be hot! The Hot Beef (Spicy) is my favorite and they run out of these quite quickly. You can clearly taste the green seasonings that are cooked into the meat, and nuff scotch bonnet pepper to give it that perfect hint of heat, while not being overbearingly hot. If you do not like spicy food, leave this one alone and order the traditional beef. Not much money is needed for a full belly here guys, all patties are $3.50 and the ackee and impossible (plant based meat) are $4.00, order a piece of coco bread for $1.75 and that will keep you filled for the day! Vegetarians you can decide if you want ackee or callaloo, I even saw one stuffed with chickpeas so you decide what you want! The service here is not what people complain about at most Jamaican take out spots, the staff is always pleasant and remember their regular customers with a smile and kind word! So if you find yourself looking for a quick low cost snack and you pass a Jamaican Flavors, stop by and order a few to fill your belly, I promise you won't be dissatisfied, and don't forget to tell them Unnerved Traveler sent you! Enjoy Extra Tip~There are 6 locations and they offer a varied menu, and full meal items, look out for the $7.00 special, it includes meat, white rice or rice and peas, plus vegetables. You come here for the patties! They have a big selection of them to choose from. Their jerk chicken patty is probably their best of the ones that I tried (jerk chicken, curry chicken, regular chicken, beef, hot beef) You do not come here for customer service haha. You get your food, and you're in and out. These workers are very efficient with their time and utilizing the smaller space of the restaurant. Doesn't make for a bad experience but if you're looking for a warm welcome and smiling faces, this ain't it fam. The prices are good. Quantity is decent depending on what you get. We ordered some oxtail plates and 3/4ths of the plate was beans and rice with 2 pieces of plantain and 4 pieces of oxtail. If you prefer more beans and rice, then this may be the spot for you. Patties were a great size and proportionate in meat/bread. I would likely only come back for jerk chicken items or plantains. Not a bad place to stop and give a try though.

Got 2 chicken patties and a coco bread right before heading to LGA. This is a must before I leave NY! Nothing compares.

Beef patties here are excellent. Better than what you get at pizza shops. I got it with the Coco Bread and it was delicious.

There were two young ladies standing behind the bar but no one greeted us. We stood by the door for maybe 5 mins before we were acknowledged and asked if we wanted to sit a table or the bar. It took another 10 mins or so before WE had to ask for a menu. After that, the young lady that served us was good and personable. The ambiance in here is pretty chill. They had a DJ that played a good mix of music. They also have a bunch of games like jenga, giant uno, connect four etc. They have happy hour M-F 4-7pm. $5 shots, $8 rum punch and margaritas (+ $1 per flavor), and $10 L.I.T, $10 wings & fries and $12 shrimp & fries (+ $2 per flavor). Drinks: We did the margaritas which are $8 +$1 for flavors. We had the passion fruit, mango, and raspberry flavors. Passion fruit was my fave, mango was a tad bit sweet but when I asked the server to add a shot to fix it, she did. Food: we had the lemon pepper and buffalo wings and fries. The wings were good but the lemon pepper flavor was light and just sprinkled on. The crab legs were really good! It's cooked in a curry sauce, I just wished they actually served it in the sauce. I had to ask for melted butter. We weren't really hungry but from the few things I had, it seems their food is good. I would go back to try some more menu items.

So disclaimer my review is strictly based on an online order. I haven't visited this establishment in person so I can't speak on service or presentation. But now on to the food... I ordered their infamous jerk chicken sandwich & oxtail Rasta pasta. So for starters the sandwich appearance wise looked sloppy. It gave sloppy joe & my food was cold. Now for the taste it did not wow me. Jerk chicken was flavor less & bland did not taste like authentic jerk chicken should. I did like the Cole slaw but that was it. The sandwich was dry too. Now as for the oxtail the meat was tough & not tender as I'd like it to be. I also did not receive much meat, I was given bones. Which is unfortunate bc a lot of ppl spoke about how great ry ry food is esp their oxtail. But I can make better oxtail than this. The pasta was good but its pasta if you mess that up, you shouldn't be in the kitchen. So furthermore I was very disappointed I was not impressed by meals, I will not be ordering again in the future.

When I complain, they say there's no way it can be spicy as everything is supposed to be mild. They don't take into consideration that the cook's spice tolerance might be higher due to them consuming a lot of spicy food so they can't tell when they've put too much spice. I could even see the high amount of pepper seeds in the curry compared to the previous times I've gotten it. The chicken curry is also often too spicy. Sometimes you get lucky and the chef working that day doesn't overload it with spice but it's rare. I see unsanitary behavior more and more often. People touching notepads and pens then using the same gloves to touch the fried chicken pieces and plantains. The notepad is on the same place they wrap the rotis. Then the lady taking cash goes to wrap a roti and uses her bare left hand to do it. Same hand touching money all day. The A rating doesn't mean much since restaurants get wind of when the inspector hits other restaurants and just tries to be on their best behavior then go back to being nasty after. Also, they use a shady tactic in which they make you wait longer so the line grows long and the store appears more crowded, making passerby think the store must be good for it to be crowded with so many people. They don't even try to hide it. When you order for delivery, the workers pack the food immediately so it sits there getting cold for 30 minutes until a driver picks it up. ZERO common sense. Today is the last straw that made me never order Sybil's again. I go in near closing and a worker is cleaning the steamtable bins with soap and water. You know how you place the steel containers of food on hot water. So they were cleaning the hot water basins with soap and water right at the table. The worker then uses a dry dirty cloth to wipe the soap clean, obviously there's going to be some dried soap residue still left since it was never fully rinsed with water. I've seen workers in the afternoon taking the stainless containers of food off the table, the dirty soapy water now on the bottom of the container dripping onto the other food as they lift it out. Wow. And you're ingesting parts of that everytime you eat.
