All we need are steal drums, warm weather and a little sunshine it would feel like the pork pit in Jamaica. Menu changes daily. We had rib tips and jerk chicken with cornbread, cabbage and red bean and rice. Everything was excellent. Cornbread was amazing. Get on down to the south side!

Food is not so good. Ox tails look like old goat nails. Hair all up in the food and everything. Very expensive, not worth the money

Wish my rib tips weren't all pieces of fat. Not authentic jamaican food but if you never had real jamaican food you wouldn't no.

I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. The beef patty was also really good. It was a tad more oily and the crust was not as flaky as the chicken. They drizzled butter on top of the patty which was not necessary. The patties are excellent on their own without The jerked chicken was very tender. It was literally falling off the bone. The jerk sauce is a little spicy but also very flavorful. Would highly recommend getting the sauce on the side. That's how it's served in Jamaica. The chicken was swimming in the sauce which took away from the actually well seasoned meat and the crispiness of the skin That jerk chicken is known for The ackee and saltfish was excellent. It is my favorite Jamaican dish and they did a really good job in making it authentically. I think this chef loves butter so it was a tad too much better for me but I'm being very picky since I grew up with this By far the best Jamaican food we have had in the Midwest. I have consistently come here to get food throughout the years and it has been so rewarding to continue to see Yum Village be such a pillar in the city and in the food industry! The service here is incredible, you don't bus anything yourself. I also noticed that the staff that day was all women, from everyone front of house to the chefs in the back as well preparing the food, which was extra fun! They are so attentive to us and even when there was a snaffoo with on of my party's orders. They paid with cash and I think perhaps that messed up the tracking of the order through the system? I'm not entirely sure. As for the food, Yum Village has maintained some of the same dishes throughout the years, while also adding and/or rotating a ton of other dishes through the menu. I can definitely confirm that the garlic parm jerk chicken remains my favorite and that the spice level, while still plentiful and intense, has eased up a bit in recent years. Either that or that I have become more spice heat-tolerant! Either way, the portions also remain huge, so there was a ton of food to take home! I love the truffle collard greens, the deeply unique and flavorful corncakes, and also the star of the show this go around was the deliciously complex fried cheesy fufu! It oozes so much flavor and is the perfect addition to any meal and very shareable as well! Keep up the great work, Yum Village!!

We ordered on the tablet they have at the front counter and sat down to wait for the food to be delivered to our table. They did have happy hour going, but I don't recommend it. The drinks weren't good honestly. Not sure what was being mixed but the liquor didn't taste right. We both had the Classic Village Meal (Jerk Chicken, jollof rice, and plantains). It was good food. I loved how the jollof rice and plantains were well prepared and hot. The jerk chicken wasn't served as hot as the rice and plantains so I think they had a timing issue in the back, so that was disappointing. There is a lot of food, so we were able to take home half and have it for breakfast the next morning. We also tried to the jerk taco and it was good and hot, but awkward to eat because there so much on top and it was just falling off as I was trying to pick it up and take a bite.

Not a lot of space, so we were glad to have gotten a table for 6. I asked the person helping us what she would eat if she was there, hungry, for the first time, and she suggested a sort of off-the-menu item of jerk BBQ. It's on there as an appetizer, but they can make it an entree even though it's not listed. I got medium spice. It was so good. The sweetness from the sauce went great with the spice. I upgraded and got the fried plantains, which were also so good. Salty and sweet. The rice and peas were delicious and perfectly made, and that slaw was chef's kiss. Everything was so good! I also appreciate them being able to split the bill easily. I'm a fan!

The flavors hit you right away: smoky bold layered and so full of character that you instinctively slow down just to enjoy it. I had that little eyelid sweat going which is always the sign of the perfect level of heat enough to wake you up but never enough to drown out the flavor. Everything on my plate was a win but the chicken stole the show. It was tender juicy and seasoned with that deep jerk flavor that only comes from someone who knows exactly what they are doing. The rice and peas deserve their own shoutout. The texture was spot on and the seasoning tasted intentional like someone put real care into every step. Then the mango cake came out and completely surprised me. Light moist and gently sweet it balanced the spice from the meal in the best way. The turnover was another standout with buttery flaky dough and a warm spiced filling that made it hard to stop eating. From the first bite to the last this meal felt like comfort joy and craft. Jamaican Jerk Pit is easily one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time.

We decided to go for take-out, but peeking into the restaurant area seemed quite cozy. Service: Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Food & Price: Oh my goodness. This place lived up to the hype from the reviews! We ordered both the large jerk chicken (12.99) and the large curry goat (13.99) as well as a side of beef patty (2.50). Personal favourite was the jerk chicken. It is spicy and delicious. The chicken was soft and flavorful, the rice was nicely covered with sauce, and the macaronis and coleslaw balanced the flavors out. The curry goat was also yummy. Personally am not too big of a fan for gamey meats, but my bf enjoyed it thoroughly. Finally, the beef patty was delicious as well. My bf had recently visited Jamaica and he believed that this was probably one of the most authentic places he could find in London that replicated the patties he had overseas. Overall: For the price, the size and the deliciousness of the foods, I recommend you give this place a try!

Caribbean Authentic Cuisine restaurant is a cozy cafe with a cool Afro-Caribbean aesthetic…read more On my visit I did not see anyone dining in, however, there are several tables for patrons to do so. I visited to experience the cuisine, which I haven't had much of admittedly. However, after reading several reviews I was led to try it. There was a large order ahead of me, and since there is only one gentleman, the owner, preparing the food, I was there for over an hour waiting for my carryout. I definitely can't stress enough how important it is to order ahead. The menu is small but mighty. It consists of jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtails, curry goat red snapper, salmon, and Rasta Pasta for the mains. Side dishes include yams, rice & peas, cabbage, plantain and other items. He also sells juices and Jamaican beef patties. Now admittedly, I'm a lightweight when it comes to spices, particularly heat. I don't care for hot spices this is why I shied away from eating Caribbean food. *haha* I ordered the pasta thinking I would be avoiding the curry and the jerk seasonings. But being unfamiliar with the dish, I was wrong. The dish was full of flavor and very spicy. If you like that sort of thing, I am sure you will enjoy it as it had a deep flavor as if it was stewed overnight. The pasta comes with chicken, which was very tender and juicy. I also had a beef patty. The crust was flaky and delicious, as was the beef filling. Before I left, I shared with the owner that I had planned to leave a review on Yelp. He shared with me a letter that he had received from Yelp congratulating him on his driving business. He is humble, with a great spirit. I enjoyed him. I highly recommend Caribbean Authentic Cuisine. Whether you're familiar with the cuisine or you're looking to try something new, this is a great choice.

As far as the food it was decent. I really liked some items and others were just ok. The Jerk Shrimp is a winner. The shrimp are seasoned with some love. The flavor is amazing with the sauce and the vegetables are delicious. 4 STARS The cabbage is lacking in taste. I expected it to be more flavorful. It could have been a bit softer too. 2 STARS The oxtails were tender, but again lacked in flavor and seasoning. 3 STARS The rice was cooked perfectly. 4 STARS The plantains weren't good. Something was missing. I was disappointed with them. 2 STARS The portion size is good for the price. I felt they gave me a fair amount of food. It's hard for me to rate them. I love supporting small businesses. However, I have definitely had better Jamaican food in the USA. I also have been to Jamaica and loved the food. I would definitely recommend the Jerk Shrimp. I would return for this and the rice only. Overall I would give it a 3.5 STARS. It was cool to try a new place while visiting home. I always enjoy having a new experience. I'm not brave enough to try the cow foot on the menu. I do wish them success.
