Overall excellent experience. Our sever was very attentive and knowledgeable. The second we walked in we felt extremely comfortable and felt transported back to Jamaica The chicken patty was 10/10. As a Jamaican it reminded me of patty back home from Juici Patty. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. The beef patty was also really good. It was a tad more oily and the crust was not as flaky as the chicken. They drizzled butter on top of the patty which was not necessary. The patties are excellent on their own without The jerked chicken was very tender. It was literally falling off the bone. The jerk sauce is a little spicy but also very flavorful. Would highly recommend getting the sauce on the side. That's how it's served in Jamaica. The chicken was swimming in the sauce which took away from the actually well seasoned meat and the crispiness of the skin That jerk chicken is known for The ackee and saltfish was excellent. It is my favorite Jamaican dish and they did a really good job in making it authentically. The place is small. There are about 6 to 8 booths and some counter space which makes it difficult to find a seat if the place is busy. After waiting a short time, it took about an hour to get the food, so that is the downside right off the bat. The service was friendly. The food was good. A restaurant appropriately named for what it offers; the food here is incredible! I don't mean it's good, it's absolutely worth driving past all the chicken spots to try. The veggie and curried chicken patty's are incredible. They are perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and filled with all the goodness on the inside. The Jamaican oxtail, my goodness, it was so tender and it goes perfect with the rice and beans. It's got all the flavor. The place is small, only a few tables but seems like a great spot to dine in. Just note they have two different menus for weekend and weekdays. But everything about these dishes were great however the rice for the jerk chicken was super dry we didn't even eat it. This restaurant was a shocking surprise to find in this fried chicken and sausage town. The service was very kind. I ordered to go, but enjoyed the ambiance and smells while waiting. The chicken was good. Not as jerk as I might be used to. It had a delicious layer of caramelized seasoning, more reminiscent of brown sauce. The rice and peas were also good. When it's good, it is really, really good. When it is mediocre, it is incredibly disappointing. 900 stars for the escovitch red snapper with dirty rice! The texture of the meat inside the beef patties made me gag, but the pastry on the outside was delicious. There was a lot of weird fake buttery drizzle on several items that my friend and I dabbed off with napkins, and in the case of her ackee and callalo, soaked up with napkins. While my rice and beans did not have any of the weird fake buttery drizzle, hers was coated in it. We left a lot of food on the table. There was not a crumb left of the escovitch red snapper dish because it was worthy of a famous cinematic moment starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, and we packed up 10 or the 12 jerk seasoned wing dings for a husband we knew would enjoy them. The texture on those was amazing! And the jerk sauce was tasty, but we had been hoping for something more traditionally prepared like a dry jerk rub. We each tasted the breadfruit and found it dry and lacking flavor. We weren't crazy about the bummy, though it did taste vaguely like a French toast stick and might be good with a little real butter and maple syrup. It's a tiny little place with pleasant lighting and easygoing multi-culturally palatable Reggae music playing at a reasonable volume. It was clean. The server was friendly. It would be worth returning again and again for the escovitch red snapper. And next time I'd try the jerk chicken entree and give it a go. read more

We came for our first time yesterday! It absolutely will not be the last. My son said it quite possibly is the best food he has ever had. My son is 15 and I have taken him to quite a variety of different cuisines. Two of his all time favorites are Indian and Middle Eastern. But today, he said the chef, changed his mind. He could tell the love, attention to detail, and the skill it took to prepare this delightful dish. I laughed through our meal because my son was so excited about the food. My son was literally in awe of the culinary genius. Bite after bite, he was totally mesmerized by the flavor. "The rice is flavorful, the beans, the outside and the inside of the chicken! Mom, how did he get flavor on the inside of the chicken?" We asked if it was possible to speak to the chef. My son was so blessed to be able to give the chef his personal compliments. My son, generally does not like eating chicken off the bone. But the Jerk Chicken Dinner, he at every single piece of edible food from his plate. He didn't even mind eatting it from the bone. This is life altering:). He also ate a full order of plantains. We live over an 1 1/2 hours away, but that won't prevent us from returning. We will be back. I also had the Ox Tale which was the first time I have ever tried Ox Tale. To say it was delicious, is an understatement. It was phenomenally seasoned, cooked to perfection, fell literally off the bone, and was so spectacular, that I will be trying other places just to get an adequate understanding of how amazing this culinary masterpiece was. The Chef has literally cooked around the world. He has a love for cooking that is a gift from GOD, developed over a lifetime, passed down from generations. Genuinely, try this place out before one of the Viral Food Critics do. Right now, the wait time was short. We would wait an hour or more for this restaurant if the lines were long (but they were not). We are so grateful we found this gem. Oh, the Carrot Cake, was some of the best I have ever had. During the weekend, they have a shortened menu, so we will be back during the week so we can try additional items. 10 out of 10 for us. Extremely, Highly Recommended. Don't wait to try it. read more
