Thank you Yelp for directing me to this place. It's one of those tiny little hole in the wall places that you forget exists. I'm happy that I tried it. It's kind of a cross between a gas station and an ethnic market but with reggae music playing. Their logo is also eerily reminiscent of Springfield brewing company which I happen to have a T-shirt from on the day that I visited the Jamaican Patty company so I could easily compare the two. It's almost a 100% identical.. but I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right? There is literally maybe 10 things on the menu and a cooler of store bought bottled drinks, so unless you are just feeling like eating in a tiny building with 3 tables, grab your food to go. The best thing about this place is the price. They serve these Jamaican patties which are basically like a fancy hot pocket but in better varieties, and then rotating specials like plantains, wings, stuff like that...they do run a special on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday that is 2 patties and a soda for $5, so that's a great price. If you are a bigger dude or have a bigger appetite, you'll definitely want to order more than 1. 1 is not enough for a whole meal... and if it is, I'm jealous of your appetite lol I ordered the chicken curry and the beefy cheese, and both of them were spectacular. They were, however, very very hot. The curry chicken was in a flaky style crust that made a mess all over the table, and the beefy cheese was in a regular pie dough style crust. I was disappointed when the kid working the counter told me that they don't make them in house and that they order them in and then just bake them... but they are delicious and cheaper then lots of fast food places in town. I've tried their veggie and Jamaican meatloaf patties and both were so good! Will have to come in on the weekends go try their specials. I don't think this would be the best place to go to if you're super hungry- although two patties usually keeps me satisfied. Super tiny spot- do not go in large groups- just get it to go. Stopped in while shopping in Springfield today. Had no idea what to expect, had never had a Jamaican Patty before. What a delightful, tasty surprise! New discovery and I'm in Patty bliss! I went late and close to closing, so the selection was limited and I'll go earlier next time. Curry Chicken Patty was flaky and delicious, just enough heat...the Plantains were perfect. Also tried the Curry Chicken entree, and it was great too The Chicken was juicy and tender, sauce was yummy! They get a rating of 4 instead of 5 because the Rice and Peas were a little dry, but they were still great and made with coconut milk, the real JA way! - and I went late so I am thinking that's my bad... :) still waiting to try a bite of the sweet plantain patty, but I am too full. :) A little taste of Jamaica right here in Springfield! Omg! Hands down THE BEST Jamaican food I've ever had! I've been all over the US & to Jamaica and it still blows every other place out of the water! We have the curry chicken and it is cooked to perfection. The chicken is so tender & flavorful. The spices are just right! The meat patties were a huge hit for my family. Filled with perfectly seasoned meat and cheeses. Crispy and warm. The owners are very kind and love what they do- it shows in their cooking! I got off work early and wanted to try something new. Found this place on Yelp. It's super cute & tiny inside. The guy who helped me was so friendly and the food is so good!!!! All I tried was the beef patty, but it was as good as it gets! Flaky crust, and nicely textured filling. Good flavor-- not as spicy as the ones I used to get in Toronto where there was a big Jamaican population, but probably modified to the Missouri palate. I will definitely be back. read more
