I felt like jerk chicken so I was brought here, I'm not from the area. I never judge a book by its cover so we went inside. This is a carry out only spot. The tables are stacked I in the corner. The workers are wearing masked but no mask enforcement for customers. The chicken was cooked thoroughly but it lacked that heat from the spices I liked. First, we arrived after their opening hours (11:30) and they were closed. We returned later ordered our food- owner was like the "soup Nazi" on seinfeld! No questions, short answers or I will screw up your order. My words not theirs. There was at least three scotch bonnets on our order. Yesterday I had this heavy, healthy, tasty red snapper, peas and rice, cabbage, peppers onions, and sweet plantains. To top it off I was greeted with a warm smile and small talk from the owner. Slow service (all I wanted was a beef patty and a ginger beer) the issue is they seem to be only able to take one order at a time. First time I came in there were three people in line ahead of me knowing I wanted something quick and seeing the line not moving (1 order at a time) I decided to shop at a store in the same plaza and come back. When I came back some 15min later the customer I was behind was paying and there was one lady in front of me. The gentleman took the money then disappeared to the back leaving the lady in front of me at the counter. The cook then brought food to the counter and he to said nothing to the lady in front of me as he rang up someone who was waiting for food previously ordered. The original guy at the counter came back and started diving an onion then answered his phone. I could see this was hopeless especially being what I wanted is pre-made an sitting at the counter. I gave up and left. Nothing about the food was authentic Jamaican at all the chicken was under seasoned and it was honestly chopped up baked chicken with some nasty watered down sauce on it the rice was bland the beef patty was dry. Was in the mood for jerk chicken so I checked this place out. The chicken itself was cooked beautifully but the sauce is what threw me off. I'm used to the seasoning being marinated into the meat versus topping it off with sauce. The sauce is a bit spicy and has great flavor. I also got an order of ox tail stew and it was delightful. The only negative experience I had here was the wait. It took 15 - 20 mins to get my food when I was second in line and the prep took only 2 mins. read more
