    1/2 Peruvian Chicken
    Natassja A.

A cozy Peruvian restaurant nestled in Mount Laurel, NJ. The workers there were friendly & helpful with any questions you have. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Portions are plenty - you will walk away feeling very full and still have food leftover to take home. Their tres leches was very good & not too sweet! Only thing I was disappointed with was the flan, it had more of a gelatin consistency than a custard consistency. Would love to return to try more dishes, they have so many options on their menu.

We just stopped by for dinner and it was great! The people who work working there tonight were so nice and helpful. I LOVED their ceviche- the flavors were great. The curry was good but I really liked their Peruvian chicken and the tallarin saltado mix! It's a great spot, so many options on the menu. Highly recommend!

A good friend of mine and fellow Yelper, suggested this restaurant. (Homerun!) I brought my wife along to try it out. It's a small, but clean and inviting restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you have any questions, about any menu items, feel free to ask, you will get helpful tips. The dining area isn't big, but the tables are spaced far enough apart, that you dont feel packed in like sardines while dining. My wife and I both had Papa Rellenas as our appetizers. It's not a stuffed baked potato, but mashed potatoes rolled and stuffed with ground beef, beans and egg. and baked. Very tasty dish! My wife had the Arroz con Pollo. I had the Lomo Soltado with Spanish Rice and two Chica Moradas drinks. You can get tea and smoothies also. When you come in you get your menu, from the register area, place your order, pay (Apple Pay, cash or credit/debit) and have a seat. Your prepared food will be brought to your table. (There isn't a waiter/waitress that takes your order.) If you use credit/debit, there is a minimum $10 charge.

The food here is so good that I came here 2 days in a row. Perfect seasoning and portion sizes. It was very busy when I went there, I ordered take out along with most of the customers and we all waited patiently. The staff didn't get flustered but instead remained friendly and accommodating. I love this place and I definitely recommend you giving them your business. Yummy

Stumbled across this little whole in the wall spot, I would have never noticed if it wasn't for Wawa being few stores down. Nice to see cultural food in an area as mount laurel. I have now eaten here quite a few times now. Customer service is decent, food is good and the smoothies are as well. The tostones are decent, just wished it was smashed more thinly and crispy and had garlic. The plantains are great with any meal like the half chicken I had purchase. Don't forget the sauce they have to offer. It's a light green color it's taste great on the chicken and rice. For an extra cup of the sauce it's about a dollar maybe. Small cozy place seats about 20 people max. Great for lunch or dinner with friends and family. This place would be at HIT if they had BYOB!

The tortilla was the best, shishito peppers were nicely charred with crunchy finishing salt. Shrimp were good, about 6 to an order but a tad overcooked for me. However I found it to be unsuitable to dining with a large group due to it being very loud and crowded. I'd recommend the tasting set if you want to be full when you leave without breaking the bank. --- I dined at Amada on Friday night with a party of 8. Typical of a Friday night in Philly, Amada was packed. It was incredibly loud, which meant you couldn't hear anyone past those seated directly next to you. Our server, Alexander, was excellent. Since the whole restaurant was fully seated, service was a little slow (2 hours for our meal-not tasting menu), but his attitude and friendliness were exceptional. The tapas (small bites) are meant to be shared, meaning it will come out at different times if you all order individually. The staff plated nuts separately so that we could still share while being mindful of our party's dietary restriction. We ordered numerous tapas try for the table: (1) chorizo Bilbao, (2) piquillos (crab-stuffed peppers), (3) tortilla española (Spanish omelette), (4) espãrragos blancos (asparagus), (5) pimientos de padrõn (shishito peppers), (6) setas (mushrooms), (7) torreznos (crispy pork belly), and (8) chicken skewers. Overall, everything came out smaller than we expected for the price. (Not too upset since it's a $$$/$$$$ restaurant.) The flavor of every dish was tasty, if not all a bit salty. The standouts for us were the: (2) piquillos, (3) tortilla española, and (8) chicken skewers. I really enjoyed the crab filling of the piquillos, the balance of flavors in the tortilla, and the juiciness of the chicken. In the end, we racked up quite a bill and were still hungry afterwards. Personally, Amada is out my price range, but everything was quite flavorful. For others, I would recommend dining at Amada with smaller parties (6 or less) to accommodate the loud ambiance. Amada is definitely better suited for a romantic date spot or small gathering. For better value, the tasting set may make more sense.

Kind of felt the need to put that out there, it's not really a suburban location. That said, echoing some of the others I'm reading snippets of, WOW to everything - the service, the food, the ambiance. It's got charm when you walk in, looks old but not dated. The waitstaff is super friendly, has some jokes, multi-talented (they brought out the guitar a few times to wish some other folks happy birthday), and knowledgeable. The food is really good - everything I tried was just delicious. For the table, we ordered some calamari and empanadas, and both were good. Drinks were also tasty - that sangria was really good, and the mojito (love that they had it available, first of all!) was also a hit. I would double-click on that sangria, though. For my entree, I ordered their whole fish, which was not only delicious but HUGE. I ate about half of it and was full. Then my friend and I split an order of limoncello cake (I think that's what it was), which was on point, and ended w/ espresso, also good. Overall, everything about that place was great, and when I mentioned a Spanish place in Trenton the next morning to some guys I was with, one of them asked, was it Malaga? That was just another great review, for a local guy to know what I was talking about just by description. Bravo, I think some of us may be back sometime!

I'd known about them for years, but they were kind of out of the way for me. The place is small and unassuming, which gave me high expectations, as sometimes I find myself having lower expectations for a more "Mexican" decorated place (I'm wrong as often as I'm right). As far as the Fish Tacos went, they do not serve the Baja style fried fish tacos that I'd grown up on out west, so it was a downer when the plater arrived and I saw the tacos filled with chopped fish cooked in broth. That said, at least the taco was well filled and the fish had a very good flavor. The broth turned out to be a major issue, as the (very tasty) single layer tortillas were soaking up the broth while I ate the first taco, and the second and third tacos both split at the seams and fell apart after one or two bites. A second tortilla may have prevented this debacle, but I won't order fish tacos here again. I'd have loved a fish soup made in this style. The next visit I tried Tacos de Tripa (fried pork intestines), which is my current go to taco style. They were very good, and I enjoyed the heck out of them. They were nice and crispy as I'd requested, and the excellent tasting tortilla made them an excellent choice. My wife had a cheese tamal that had ribbons of poblanos inside as well, and it was also very good with the poblanos providing a nice balance to the heaviness of the cheese. I'd get both again in a heartbeat. My third visit was at lunchtime, and I opted for a Torta de Chili Relleno--essentially a chili relleno sandwich. It wasn't the first I've ever had, and it's a fave torta when I see them on the menu--which isn't often. The torta arrived with a nice sized chili relleno along with the usual smear of beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and a couple pieces of queso fresco served on a lightly toasted roll. Overall, the torta was very good tasting, and it went down nicely. However, I wish they used a little firmer roll instead of the soft one they did use. The torta was big and warm, and a crustier roll would have been better. The soft one used was near to collapsing under the weight of the ingredients. Fries are an option on the many torta options for a couple dollars extra. In retrospect, I'd have liked to have added a layer of fries to the sandwich for a little extra kick. All in all, El Gallo Tropical is a place I'll continue to go to. The staff is very friendly, and the menu is extensive (too big?). Although I had them initially at three stars after my first visit for fish tacos, the second (4+) and third (4-) visits have raised them up, and I'm rounding up to a four.
