I came in for a late night meal with my son who was going to be 22 in 3 weeks. His ID is vertical. They refused to serve us. It is an unreasonable request to make people go get brand new identification when they turn 21. It's not like IDs are free. When does yours expire. My son's does not need replacing until 2030. Went for Sunday brunch. The service was friendly but the music was crazy loud. I kept looking around thinking maybe I was right by a speaker but no it was just that loud. We had to shout to be heard so eventually I just stopped talking and hit folks with the smile n fake nod like I heard them lol. Someone ordered a mimosa tower which I thought was super cute but the Mismatch glasses not so much. Since the tower was closest to me I started pouring and passing down. When I went to get mine I noticed the glass was sticky on the outside and wet on the inside. I set it aside and grabbed a different glass. We toasted and after my little sip I noticed a fly floating inside. The waitress took it right away and brought another one to replace it. We placed our orders and I really appreciated the waitress letting us know that I would take some time as these were all made to order meals. We said that was fine and went to the bar to kill time. To my surprise, they had those little apple shaped fly traps all in the windowsill at the bar. I told my friend girl Idk if I want another drink now but she talked me into it saying she'll pay. We order our drinks and to our surprise they were two flies at the bottom of my shot glass...the bartender embarassed made me another this time with a heavier pour...I examined my glass well and headed back to the table. When the food came I immediately noticed how dark the chicken was on my friend and daughters plates. I asked them if the chicken was burned and they both said yes after trying but both said as long as it took, they did not want to send it back. My daughter didn't eat any more of hers and my friend just slathered syrup all over to drown out the burn flavor. I ordered shrimp n grits with 1 piece of catfish. I took a bite of the fish and could tell right away it was fried in the same oil as the chicken. I passed it around to have others try it and they agreed. By this time I'm like damn do I even eat the grits? But another friend ordered grits and said they were good...so I ate a little bit of those but they were just ok. Jamar's food is delicious. I've had a number of items and they are all good. The Waygu Bacon Cheeseburger is the best burger in town. The wings are a bunch of messy deliciousness. The pours from the bar are generous and the cocktails are well mixed. I threw a curveball of my own concoction at the bartender and she improved on it. The service is terrific. I go to watch a sporting event or for dinner. As the night grows later, it gets a bit loud for 60+ ears, but that's fine. I've met the owner several times and he is a great guy. Went here for the first time as I'm a local and love to support new establishments. Ordered the fried pickles and the burger. Every time I bit into a pickle, it would slide right out of the breading. Also very greasy. I would suggest flouring the pickles first before putting them in the batter. Would rate the burger a 5 out of a 10. Just a few pieces of onion, the lettuce was already saturated by the grease of the burger. Truly, nothing special. I'm guessing tater tots were frozen out of a bag. Wanted to try the fried rice but was told it's no longer being served but it was still on the menu. Also asked if the egg rolls were made in house and was told no. Server was very pleasant. Atmosphere was pretty clinical in looks. A bit warmer atmosphere or a little bit darker paint on the walls would go a long way and also something on the ceiling or walls to absorb the sound. Would not be pressed to go back. Honestly, it pained me to give this review because it looks like the owner went to great lengths to provide a stand-out place but it's mediocre bar food when I was really hoping for a step above All Star. Come on Jamar, give us something that we want to come back for, not a lot of mediocre food and a cook that could be in your own home kitchen. read more

I had a great time at Jamars my brother and I had plans on going to the sports bar not too far from Jamars but we decided to give the new spot a try and we were very happy with the results. First if you are someone from Seattle and are tuned into the local sports scene you will recognize the jerseys on the wall i loved that touch! Second it wasnt extra busy but my waitress was she had a table of about 11 and my table that she was helping at the same time. I could tell the other table was very talkative and she was engaging and playful. She was also helpful and gave great recomendations on what we should have when my brother and i asked what we should have. I really enjoyed the catfish and even with the table she was handling and me a person who drinks a lot of water my waitress kept my table and the other table happy to the point our tables began to speak about how good her service was. I hope i dont get this wrong but i think her name was Christina she was amazing as was the food and drinks i will visit again. read more

Staff initially came up and accommodated my party of seven by moving a table. After a few minutes the owner came and yelled at us, stating we moved the additional table ourselves, after informing him a member of his staff accommodated us he made us move and cause some commotion. I hate to leave this review because I really want this place to succeed and be great but the food was not it. I went for brunch, arriving at 10am and was seated. It took the waitress some time to get us a menu even though it was empty inside the restaurant. We were told that the brunch menu was limited to only 3 items, which was very disappointing and when I asked if I could get grits I was told they didn't have any even though I could see it on the shelf in their kitchen. I ordered chicken & waffles, and this is what I got. I was very disappointed as I received chicken strips that you can tell were frozen and not made in house. Service was okay. Drinks were good and not overpriced. Would I come back? Maybe for a drink but probably not for food. Atmosphere was alright. Also, if you're advertising brunch you should be serving the whole brunch menu not just some items it's very misleading. read more

Hot new spot in Des Moines. The servers were very helpful and attentive. Did not try the food but they had a good sized menu and some specials on the board. The layout is a little odd so be sure to work your way all the way to the back by the bar where you'll get a territorial view of the water. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly people, but the food was something that everyone could make better at home. I wanted to love this place, but the food was not memorable and nothing that you would come back for. Nachos were just 7-11 style with squirt white cheese...no onions, tomato or real cheese. Everything was stuff that they got from Costco. Nothing is hand made. I hope they can add to the menu that would make you come back for more. Get a real cook Jamar. read more
