Found this when I was searching for fish and chips near my hotel. Sam was my server and he was very attentive and sweet. I honestly wasn't expecting much but the food blew me out the water. Shepherd's pie (which I don't usually like), bangers and mash, corned beef, and bread, I enjoyed all of it. And I'm glad I split it because I would've just hurt myself if I hadn't. The downsides were that the staff didn't seem in to having customers. And the music which was too loud for easy conversation was a bad mixtape of modern pop and country. Not exactly Irish. Our buddy asked if we wanted to meet up, and he suggested Harp's... and if it weren't for that, I would have had no idea we were pretty close to an Irish Pub! Ever since my wife discovered her spirited Irish roots, we have been seeking local pubs whenever we travel, but in our own backyard? Very cool! Right away, we were seated towards the back, and ordered a couple of drinks. Started out with some Gin and Tonic, but ended up getting a couple Irish Mules- man those were spot on. Once our buddy got there, we ordered some Fish and Chips, Calamari, the Gaelic Burger, and the Dublin Rosemary Chicken. I personally had the Gaelic Burger, and it was a hit. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the food, but the evening was perfect as the environment. The food was great, and the live entertainment was perfect. There was even an intermission, where two individuals came up and began playing the traditional bagpipes. So cool! All in all, it was a great experience, and all before St. Paddy's Day but now that I know this place exists... I'll be back for more traditional plates and drinks. As always... Even though it was delivery our food arrived piping hot I had to wait a little to eat my stew. It was filled to the brim, and it was pretty tasty. The Irish bread was also delicious. Had a hint of sweetness to it. My husband had the shepherds pie. He enjoyed it, but it was the bread pudding that was amazing! Three of us shared it, and devoured wishing we had more. Now I'm curious to try the rest of the menu. I really wanted to order the corn beef and cabbage, but I was afraid to because I make pretty good corn beef and cabbage myself. This place has really gone down hill. First, the menu was a printed sheet of paper that had various stains on it. New menus had obviously not been printed for a while. It was honestly kind of disgusting. The cleanliness of the entire restaurant was kind of suspect. Service was super-slow, even though there were only three tables of customers (including us) in the entire restaurant. Our servicer was not friendly in the least, and almost seemed like we were a bother. And our server disappeared for long stretches of time. The Reuben sandwich, which used to be awesome, was basically a gooey grilled cheese sandwich with very little corned beef or sauerkraut. And the small amount of corned beef still had big chunks of fat attached. I know corned been has marbled fat, but this was just a nugget of fat (more than one..) that I bit into. The Poutine was a small plate of fries, a little bit of very salty brown grave, and a little bit of cheese. It was actually quite embarrassing as a dish. This is probably the 6th time we've eaten at the Harp over the last couple of years. The first 5 times were very good experiences and good food. The 6th time was a complete disaster. However, food is really where this place shines though. If you are looking for off-beat items or traditional classics, they have both. Last time, we ordered some apps, which were delicious. The Harp bites, which are a bit like non-traditional cheese sticks are served with a sweet berry sauce and hit all the right notes, and the Irish potato cakes, which are a mix of corned beef, shredded potato and sauerkraut. Seriously though, everything I have ever ordered here has been thoughtfully prepared, tasty, and served piping hot. For dinner, I ordered the Guinness stew and a house salad and my hubby got the the Cobb salad. We were not disappointed, the salads were fresh and the soup was stout, beefy and glorious, in a way I cannot quite describe.
