It's hard to articulate the level of disrespect. I felt when I was served by Chad. It was the first time that I felt like a bartender/server was not personable, respectful or courteous to a customer. It is literally the worst experience I've had at this place and as good as the food is and the other servers are, it is over shadowed by someone who is clearly has something within themselves to where they do not feel like they need to be a good customer service representative. Only went for a beverage. My friend took one sip of her beer ( a beer they drink frequently and at many establishments) and said something was not right I don't drink beer but had a sip. It tasted moldy. They proceeded to tell the bartender something was wrong with the beer or the dispensing system. No apologies, no attempt to make things better, only the assurance that "there's nothing wrong with our taps." The beer sat untouched for a long time while the server ignored us at a fairly empty bar. Finally a bottled beer was able to be ordered and served. Bad day? Bad shift? Bad beer? Chad is the main server. They have a happy hour from 4-6pm with discounted food and yet the little card that has the menu items for $5,$8, and $10 has the *smallest* print of what it includes. It's like a 6 point font. I said to Chad I can't read this can you help identify the items? He said what you got to do is take a photo of it and zoom in. He didn't even make eye contact when he said this. Found it to be super rude to post a tiny text menu and not be willing to explain it. That's a unique and rude experience. He was rude to other customers also, similar dismissive interactions. His boss should correct him. Food was actually pretty terrible. Spinach dip was horrible. No taste, texture like baby food. Our group had a variety of dishes including fish and chips, pasta, risotto, nachos. The one other time the food was very good but tonight I ordered their chicken wings (to-go order) and I've never seen this much pink before in a wing. I understand some pink is to be expected from the thawing process but this is unacceptable and made me nauseous to see. I also ordered the salmon and it couldn't have been more dry and tough. I was there yesterday with my mom she ordered the salmon cesar salad and felt sick as soon as we got home. She got food poisoning.and the mini burgers from the kids menu didn't taste good at all. read more

My wife and I stopped in for lunch while running errands today. We both were considering the Cuban sandwich or fish and chips. The only positive was the onion rings were good. First, the Cuban. It was on a soft bun, Cuban sandwiches are supposed to be crispy; pannini style, or at least grilled. The salty pickles and the copious yellow mustard (there was so much mustard it was queezing out all over our hands) completely overwhelmed the sandwich, we could not taste the pork, ham, or cheese at all. Now the fish and chips. The chips were soggy and not hot. The fish appeared to be the panko cod from Costco, but over fried (very dark brown). The service was hit or miss, too. We were not day drinking, so both had iced tea. The tea was good and fresh, but there was only 1 packet of Equal, so when the server dashed off with our glasses to "refresh" our drinks, I had to ask for more Equal. He ran around appearing to try to find some, but after about 5 minutes, I noticed him behind the bar fumbling with menus. I had to flag down another waiter to ask for some Equal again. Some really great flavors for their brews. I liked the peanut butter stout. Charlie got the cherry cider, quite tasty. We just happened upon this place, even drove back for it. A gem in Normandy Park. Looking for a place to watch the Kraken game because we don't have TNT, we're so fortunate to find the Alehouse. Hubby got beer and club sandwich. I got the risotto and it was DELICIOUS. It is very rare that I clean my plate but my plate shone, it was that good. Service is attentive. Food is great. Variety of adult beverages. Love to support local. If they allow furbabies on patio during warmer times, even better. read more

Our friend invited us to dinner at this ale house. It is an excellent place for a large group inside or on outside patio. Waiters are happy to move tables to accommodate for our group. Many beers on tap. I had the Risotto, which did not have the creamy texture I anticipated. It was more like rice, but the side veggies were cooked perfectly. The Shrimp scampi was also sub par. The mushrooms chewy and the noodles were overcooked. Definitely a place to go for atmosphere not for the quality of food. read more

Sign at the front says Happy Hour 4-6 however, when I arrived today around 4:30pm there was no sign of happy hour anywhere. I did sit in the patio, and it wasn't offered to me as an option for Happy Hour if I sat inside. Prices are extremely reasonable. All entrees were under $20. Beers were like under $8. Cocktails were under $12. Kids menu the chicken tenders and fries, was a giant chicken tender that when you broke it apart was like 5 good sized pieces. Fries were yummy. I got the steak salad. I ordered medium and it was way over, but still a decent price. Hence minus 1 star Cuban sandwich was decent. Needed more acid, we wanted more pickles. The balsamic salad dressing was good. Definitely should try the Sambal and lime dressing, it is also a great fry sauce. Dog friendly on patio, also kid friendly. Large parking lot out front. read more

Ok so, since ny first review the service has improved. There are some really good things on the menu like the habanero chicken wings and the steak salad and understand this is a "bar steak salad" not a 5 star restaurant steak salad. Don't get the Cuban sandwich if you've ever been to Miami, they have no clue about how to make them. In fact, I asked to try the "cubano" and the waiter looked at me like I was speaking Greek. "The Cuban Sandwich..." I clarified. So, since service has improved, the wait staff is friendly and the location is convenient. At Least for me since I only live a mile away. :) And for those reasons, I am upgrading them from 3 to 4 stars. Cheers. read more

Wing Wednesdays, here we go! Yes, I've said it. You see, there's another bar in Renton that serves (from my honest upmost opinion) the best chicken wings, but I often don't feel like fighting against traffic for chicken wings on a weekday. Plus, I want quick service. This bar actually serves pretty good Thai Sweet Chili Sauce Chicken Wings (from the appetizer menu). You can either do 1 lb or 1/2 lb order, and we always do 1 lb order for 2 people. The wings are crispy, and the sauce is embedded into the chicken wings. Give it a try sometimes! You can call in to place a to-go order, and they'll have it out for you in 10-15 minutes! read more

I've driven by this place so many times and wanted to try it for so long. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't to be. My husband ordered a breakfast stout. It was the color of a brown ale, tasted like brown ale, but the server insisted that it was just a light colored stout. He did swap it out for a different beer though. They didn't ask how he wanted his burger, which was odd. They just cooked it medium well. I had the turkey and Brie sandwich. There was soooo much cinnamon on in. Not just in the fig jam, but heavily sprinkled all over the inside. Really overwhelming. Bacon on both was undercooked. Tots were good. Cider was excellent. Service was slow, but not bad. However, the server didn't ask how the meal was even once. I tend to think that means they know no one has much good to say. The outdoor dining was nice. I might have liked it better if I'd ordered something else, but as it was, we won't be back. read more

They add a 2.5% "service fee" to all checks stating it's to "cover" the rising costs. If operating costs are going up, raise your food prices so it's transparent what you are charging and let people decide if they want to dine at your establishment but don't use a chicken sh** approach by trying to hide what you are charging. Food was tasty but I hate that feeling of being scammed and taken advantage of. read more

We came here because they offer Passport Discount and we were looking for a place in the area for a quick bite. We were pleasantly surprised to find this sort of establishment open in the late morning. The Ale House is located in a business park with office/retail businesses. When we walked in, I was sort of surprised by the nice ambiance. The food was great, especially for bar food. It's so challenging to find American food in the Seattle area and Normandy Park Ale House is a place I'd recommend to fill up your belly. We had a couple of sandwiches and fries. Both were solid--prepared perfectly and tasty. One thing that was truly impressive is the service. The man working the place seemed to be running the front of house solo. Even though I never felt abandoned and while he wasn't super-extra friendly, he was pleasant and helpful. We didn't order any alcohol because we had work stuff to do but I'd like to visit some late afternoon/evening and take more time to really enjoy this place. Previously a favorite spot of mine but unfortunately it's now perpetually under staffed and based on the experience today the staff are empowered to be actively terrible to customers. It's a bummer but unless you want to wait forever or get yelled at for picking a seat too far from the pissed off staff member you probably want to avoid this spot. read more

Every few months several of us who used to work out together at the Matt Griffin YMCA meet at the Normandy Park Ale House for dinner and a catch-up. The food and service is consistently good. We were lat there October 15th. I usually order the excellent steak salad, but this time tried the Thai Chicken Wrap, which was fresh and delicious. Our server, Marcus, was very accommodating and even graciously offered to give my car a jump start when I found I had left my headlights on while parked there. I ordered some takeout from Normandy Park Ale House, as it is a favorite of my family. I ordered the Pub Cheese Burger with no lettuce and no onions. The burger overall was good--the cheese was melty, their house sauce was tasty, and the burger patty was large. The burger patty for me personally, however, was overcooked. I think that is partially due to being takeout. The fries were good. Perfect for ketchup dipping. They were better with the ketchup, too. Although the burger was nothing special (good but not great), partially due to being takeout, my dad's fish and chips were absolutely amazing. I would order those and try this restaurant again. There health/food score is only "okay" which I didn't notice until after ordering my food :/ service was super rude and blunt from the bartender who must of felt it beneath him to take my families table. Then after the initial order became basically non existent. None of their high chairs have straps/have been cut off? Made for fun with a 1 year old... food came out cold, server never came back to ask how it was until we had been sitting there so long we were just ready to leave. Stopped in late on a Sunday after poor service at Twin Peaks and Bj's. This place was a breath of fresh air. The two ladies behind the bar were welcoming and attentive. And the locals made it a good time. Joes birthday I believe. We ordered Chicken Wings and Fries which were tasty. Blue cheese was authentic.
