Bobbi Joe was my server, the longest tenured server theuire. Very pleasant. I was sat at the exhibition station (observe the culinary staff preparing meals). I had just wanted to have a beverage while waiting for friends to arrive. Bobbi Joe aggressively suggested I have an appetizer while waiting for friends. She recommended the Steak Bbites. I declined because I had just ate before arriving there. She was working to get me to eat some good if I was going to have a drink. However, she was gracious when I said NO! 13 Coins had a great menu selection. Nice ambience. When I entered the building, there were tables on the patio that had not been cleared of dirty dishes. When I walked out, 45 mitinuetes later tables were still dirty. Perhaps staff could help each other out. Several times I observed staff leaning, or chatting with each other socially. Disappointed that the first impression was they aren't collectively trying to keep an appearance of excellence and attention . Faith, my server, was a trouper. She pivoted when the crowds came in but ensured I was always taken care of. My food was very good, thankfully. Had only bn in town 72 hours, hadn't managed a decent meal but that's more bc of all the events surrounding graduation and family get together. I haven't been here in years and I wish hadn't gone today. From the moment we sat down until the moment we left, the experience was a solid 1-star. We sat down to sticky booths that looked like they hadn't been dusted or cleaned in years. I didn't want to lean back and let my hair touch it. That kind of a booth. Next, we ordered coffee. The server said it comes with half and half and as she was about to walk away, I remembered my friend liked milk so I said, "oh don't you prefer whole milk." The server said they serve half and half with coffee and they don't have whole milk just 2% and if we we wanted anything else she could pour water in it. Normally this banter would be fine. This wasn't banter. She was annoyed. We stuck with the half and half. We looked at the menus that were COATED with sticky stuff all over the plastic and falling apart. It looked like a studen'ts notebook after a full year in grade school. We ordered a strawberry lemonade. Normally, my daughter will drink anything. It tasted like chemicals. Since two of us ordered two different types of benedict, the server came with sharper knives. She then WIPED THEM CLEAN with a towel hanging from her pocket. 20 min. later we got our order. Well 2 of us did. Mine was the wrong item so had to send back and they had to make me the correct one. No apologies from our server. We then had to ask for a third place setting. The server got it and when my daughter was using the benedict knife, the server took it FROM HER HANDS and gave it to our friend since she was eating french toast. The food was not good. The french toast tasted like dry bread coated in eggs. In other words, it hadn't soaked up any of the batter. Sat at the bar on Father's Day with a clear view of the kitchen. I watched an employee wearing gloves repeatedly scratch her arms, including putting her gloved hand under her shirt. She then continued handling food without changing her gloves or washing her hands. I came here with a large group of alumni from my college. They unfortunately couldn't accommodate us since the restaurant was packed that day. Luckily they had a private room we could use at short notice so I really appreciated that. The waiters were great at taking our orders and very friendly. Unfortunately I was a bit let down by the food. I tried a few of the apps, and I think the Brussels sprouts were ok, but I didn't love the crispy shrimp. The fried zucchini sticks were not bad. I also had a glass of Rose wine that was good. Anyways, this place is just outside the airport and has a nice ambiance inside. So if you are in the area and need a bar and some food, it is ok. The hubby and I went to 13 Coins in SeaTac and had a great experience. For starters, our waitress was on top of it from the minute we sat down. I really appreciated her being honest when I asked her opinion about a few things on the menu. I always like when the staff will give a real answer instead of just saying everything is good. We got to sit at the counter, which I think is the best seat in the house. But this time we got even luckier because we got to sit toward the back of the counter where you can see the whole line in the kitchen. I've been to 13 Coins for years and somehow had never sat in those seats before, so I was pretty pumped about that. We started with a couple appetizers and they were both really good. The jalapeño steak bites were my favorite. So flavorful. We also had the fried zucchini, which I normally don't order, but these were done perfectly with a really nice crispy crust. My husband ordered the Wagyu bacon cheeseburger and I went with the Philly steak sandwich. Both were great. We also ordered garlic fries, which I had no idea they even offered. We watched the cook toss them with garlic and grated parmesan and they were so good!!! Side note for anyone who used to love the antipasto plate with the bread and butter. They still offer it, you just have to ask for it now. It used to automatically come out but now it's by request, which honestly makes sense. First of all, I never would have found this place but I have a friend who works for the FAA at SEA-TAC. When I asked her for a recommendation for breakfast, she said, "If you're looking for something more fancy and alcoholic, this place is a long-term icon. It's a bit on the pricey side." And that was a great descriptor. It's on the side of an office building, but there's restaurant parking available, which is nice by the airport. As a single diner, they seated me at the counter, but it was the nicest counter seating I've ever experienced. They've mounted comfy armchairs at the counter -- not stools -- which just made the whole experience both classier and crazy at the same time. Service was fast and efficient (nice at breakfast). I ordered the frittata with a side of hash browns and couldn't quite finish it -- that was two hearty portions of traditional American breakfast favorites! Brewed iced tea. The place sits unassuming in a corporate building, but inside you'll find classic old-school booths that gave me hope for something good. I hit happy hour on a slow night, yet somehow service still dragged. I went for what seemed like safe bets: pepper beef and pesto clams. Being in Seattle, I figured the seafood would be a slam dunk. Wrong. The clams were aggressively overcooked--dry, rubbery, and clearly not fresh. The pesto itself had decent flavor and the crostini were fine, but when your star ingredient is that bad, nothing else matters. The pepper beef's creamy sauce tasted good (hard to mess up cream and pepper), but the beef quality was dismal and cut so thick it turned into a chewy workout for my jaw. Here's what really stings: I went back to the airport afterward and found genuinely better food at a terminal restaurant. When SeaTac is outperforming your "classic" Seattle spot, something's gone seriously wrong. 13 Coins might be trading on nostalgia and reputation, but the kitchen isn't backing it up. It's around a 5 minute walk from the SeaTac airport light rail station, which is connected to the airport. It's a great option if you have a longer layover and don't mind going through airport security again. The interior was dark and moody and the bar seats looked really comfortable. Giant leather backed booths and seats, fantastic dark "private club" type décor, attentive and professional waitstaff - LOUD but amazing chef in the kitchen (they call out to the assistants constantly; it's a vibe (?) - it is noisy for that reason; however, the restaurant itself is completely insulated from the outside. You can view the greenery through the giant windows without actually hearing any traffic or airplanes. Fun part is you can hear them when they call out and start cooking your order :) We ordered the chicken wings starter, then the scallops entree and the steak and eggs (they serve all meals all day and up to around midnight). This is the kind of place I've been looking for since I moved here - a place open late with options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A friend from school and I chose to meet at 13 coins after not seeing each other for a long time because we remembered how much fun we used to have there and how we loved the food. The ambience was very similar. Waiter was nice but surprised to see the menu had changed. We were both so excited to order our favorite stuffed mushrooms w/crab and a crab frittata but crab is no longer served. So I ordered the chicken piccata which was served in a very thick like gravy that was so very salty and very rich. The seafood frittata had little seafood and the hashbrowns were overcooked. We flew in from San Diego to visit Seattle and chose this restaurant because it was literally right next to our hotel. From the outside--and especially from the photos online--it looked modern, upscale, and like a great place for dinner. Unfortunately, the reality was completely different. We had family drive three hours to meet us for dinner after not seeing them in over 20 years, so we wanted the evening to be special. As soon as we walked through the doors, we realized the online photos were very misleading. The restaurant felt outdated and dingy, with an overpowering old candle scent. The booth seating was worn out, ripped, and clearly in need of repair. Our waitress started off attentive, but once we told her we needed a few more minutes because we were catching up with family, it felt like we were forgotten. It took a long time before she came back to take our order. The food was even more disappointing. We ordered the calamari, and it was badly overcooked--rubbery and chewy instead of light and crispy. There were virtually no healthy options on the menu. We also don't drink alcohol, so we ordered mocktails. They were terrible--basically just juice poured into a glass with no creativity or balance. Considering the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service, the prices were outrageous. I used to frequent the one in Pioneer Square some years ago (often for their brunch menu!) and thought of this place again to spend time with a friend before my flight from Seattle. She has never been before and thought the vibe was "swanky" :P The booths are definitely always comfortable and plenty of space. We split some appetizers (fried ravioli, Brussel sprouts, steak bites) and it was plenty as we spent time catching up over a drink.
