I had no idea this place was nearby. There are three other Jamican takeout restaurants I frequent. This is the only one that offers dine-in. The location is cozy, and the lady who served me was very friendly. I got the lunch special, an order of plantains, and a Ting to drink. The portions are good if a little on the smaller side. To be fair, I got the lunch special, which is a smaller container. The flavor of the curry goat was good, but I'll be honest in saying that the tastebud and nerve issues in my mouth continue to make things difficult to enjoy and taste properly. The cabbage and rice and peas very also good. The plantains were freshly made. I noticed the prices seemed a bit high, but that appears to be across the board everywhere right now. This place has an insanely early closing time. On their website, they stop taking takeout orders at 5:30pm. I've tried to come here on a separate day with my friend after work but missed them by 5 minutes. So dining in unfortunately is not an option! With this in mind, my friend and I preordered around 4pm-ish on their website for a pickup order by 5:15pm. I arrived at 5:30pm and my order was ready and hot. My friend's order was missed and they hurriedly made it right then! They ran out of cabbage so we got plantains subbed. The owner threw in a side of mac n cheese and upgraded my friend's order to a large for the wait. I got out at about 5:50pm. The owner also gave me a sampler of irie rice and ox tail to try that was very much appreciated! We got: ox tail with irie rice, brown stew chicken and 2 jerk chickens. The regular rice with kidney beans needed sauce because of the lack of cabbage. The brown stew and oxtail sauce were seasoned and pretty good. The jerk chicken was a little dry and my BF did not like the many bone pieces. I didn't mind them as much but I did feel there was not quite enough meat in the brown stew and oxtail. With the generosity of the owner throwing in extras and the good taste of the dishes, I would like to go back to try the curry chicken or something else! Amazing jerk chicken lunch! Definitely a Worcestershire based jerk sauce with about a 4/10 spice ievel. Fantastically juicy two drumsticks and thigh in my meal so not a bunch of extra bones which I love. The flavor was fantastic and charred in so well without any dryness at all. This was over a bed of rice and peas (black beans here I believe) and a side of some sort of cabbage/slaw. The fried dumplings were basically large wheat flour dense kinda sorta dry hush puppies without any spice. The banana pudding was there but kinda thick and more fluff than pudding which wasn't bad flavor wise just a bit dense and almost too "dry" in texture to be considered a pudding. Nothing bad. Looking for delicious Vegan food? Give them a try! I ordered the callaloo for my sister, and it came with rice and beans, plantains, and cabbage. It was well worth it! I ordered Oxtails with rice and beans, and it was everything I wanted in that moment! The oxtails were tender, and the gravy was perfectly seasoned. The customer service was awesome! I was on my way to my Aunties house and thought let me stop and get us a bite to eat because, I was hungry and it was around lunch time. I ordered the Jerk Chicken from this restaurant thinking it would be a delicious meal during the lunch hour. I ordered not too early and not too late which is usually when the lunch food quality is at its peak. When the Door Dash arrived it had an odd and unusual smell. It smelled like feces, and I'm not even kidding. I smelled the food constantly before taking a small bite later to be meet with an odd sweet/spicy texture. However, the texture of the food was odd and and I threw out the rest of the meal due to the putrid smell. He was extremely patient answering my questions about the different options and made some great recommendations both for me and my fiancé who is vegetarian! Went to this restaurant because I the one I usually go to wasn't open but I still wanted Jamaican food. So I found this spot that is very close to me actually only 9 mins. and the Food was AWESOME. I got the stew chicken over rice and peas and cabbage and it wasn't over cooked or over seasoned, very nice portion for 13 bucks . the service was nice... The young lady that helped me informed me it would be a wait they need more servers on the weekend but that fact that she even communicated that was nice. If you are looking for something amazing and new, this is the place! Tonight we ordered chicken curry, goat curry, ox tails, irie rice, red beans, and rum cake. None of these dishes disappointed! The ox tails were sweet and tender in an almost BBQ sauce. Not my favorite, but definitely something I would not turn down again (from a girl who hates BBQ sauce, that is an epic compliment!). The curry chicken was tender and balanced; not too hot, not too mild. Paired with the irie rice, it was a salty sweet satisfaction. By far the best part of our meal was the curry goat. It was so tender that it fell apart just looking at it. Paired with the red beans and rice, it was perfection in every bite. We still have a slice of Rum Cake to taste. It smells like HEAVEN, but our bellies are so happy from the rest of the meal it has to wait to be tasted. For take out in the Cedar-Lee area, this place is solidly in the top 5. Their decor is not inviting. There is no restroom to use if you are dining in. Their store front is a little haphazard, but they opened during the shut down, so judgement needs to be withheld. Can you say DISCUSTING! I am a bariatric patient so I cant eat alot of sweets so I usually stick with meat and vegetables. I ordered the jerk chicken for $7.00 and they gave me the smallest styraphone box with 3 tiny pieces of chicken it had some spice to it but they put some kind of sauce on it that was sweet. I also ordered the oxtails and they smelt like tomato paste and something sweet. I didn't want to believe it that someone added sugar to oxtails but it was nasty sweet meat. I paid $13.00 for the oxtails and they were sweet and unsavory. I also noticed that during this time with covid 19 going on the cook in the back blue glove looked so nasty and disgusting I noticed he was handling food and washing dishes with the same gloves on. After I ate the food "tasted" I felt so sick I had to lay down and drink water. Until the pain from the sugar "dumping feeling"would pass. I'm sure weight loss patients will understand what I experienced and would want to stay away this place is nasty and not worth your time. If you like sweet meat and are ok with going into a diabetic sugar coma and ok with being beat out of your money then this might be the place for you. If you are looking for real jamaican food then unfortunately you would have to try some other place I usually get my food from ocho Rio on ivanhoe and he is ok sometimes but this restaurant Jamerican I'm going to have to say hell to the naw. If I could give no stars I would I placed my order for an oxtail dinner 30 minutes before arriving. When I got there I was told there would be a 10 minute wait after waiting 30 more minutes my food was still not ready needless to say I left and went to The Sauce and was in and out within minutes. 2 Uber eats drivers also left without food.
