I love supporting new restaurants especially when they serve healthy food. Grass fed beef and no seed oils buns made for a great burger and the side potatoes were yummy too. The only reason for 4 stars and not five, is that you have to order and pay at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. We found "James Provisions" on "The Seed Oil Scout" app. We were so delighted by what we found! The customer service was top notch, the atmosphere was nice( lots of live plant and flowers) it's an older building but very clean and inviting! The food was phenomenal! We have been avoiding seed oils and it's difficult to eat out! The burger was made of Texas beef, the Huevos rancheros was the best i ever ever had and my husband loved his steak and eggs! The non alcoholic beverages was refreshing and not sweet! So delicious! The cookies were a great treat for the ride home! Pros: I have Celiac, and James Provisions offers wonderful gluten-free options that are delicious and healthy. I ordered the Smoked Carrot Soup and the Flatbread with Cassava Crust. I did alert the staff immediately that I have Celiac, and they took extreme care not to allow cross contamination. I do hope James Provisions considers offering GF buns/bread so that people with Celiac can enjoy a burger or sandwich. Cons: This is a very casual restaurant with counter order and table delivery - not my favorite, but it seems to be a trend. Also, you are asked to tip for the service at the time you order, not after your dinner - which definitely forces you to guess what kind of service you'll receive. The cocktails are good, but diminutive for the price. For those of you with back problems, you may want to bring a cushion for your back as the chairs are metal and very hard. read more

Upon walking it is so beautiful, so much natural light and the tables don't feel overwhelming or cluttered. I have a small baby and they accommodated me by providing an extra table to give us more table space! Everything here is locally farmed and the meat is grass fed! You can taste the difference. The hey also have keto friendly options, which is amazing. It's great to have good, locally sourced and nourishing food in the area. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade that was so delicious as well. 10/10 I will definitely be a recurring guest as well as recommend anyone who will listen to this place! The price point is more than fair for the product you are getting. We have spent far more for far less on dinner. We actually go here more because its one of our cheaper options for a healthy, high quality meal (and high quality but less-healthy cocktail). Some of the stars are the all day eggs, autumn burger, bass, all of their brunch. They have somehow perfected the potato. The crushed red potato in miso butter actually blew my mind. All in all, this place is a must-try and an amazing addition to the community. They deserve all the success in the world. If you're looking for some saltier food at a lower price point there's a Chili's on the other side of town. Came for the Easter brunch not knowing ahead of time that they are using a limited menu until 4pm. Brand new restaurant still needing to work out a lot of kinks so we knew to be patient. Blueberry French toast was served cold. The steak and eggs is served in a type of bowl plate and seems to be a skirt steak, also served cold. The portions are very small, which wouldn't normally be a problem with their full menu that has appetizers. Sadly none of the apps are available during Easter brunch. They sell tins of matcha but don't have matcha actually on the menu. The music is very loud here and even on a chilly day the fans are on full blast so it is windy to the point that I'm fighting my hair. Pretty grossed out to be eating next to dead bugs too. Not a totally awful experience, but I wouldn't recommend. read more

This sort of thing is becoming the NEW NORMAL and it seems even more off-putting when the prices keep rising. What was even more frustrating was that after we paid and tipped 20%, we realized we paid the FULL price for everything; we did not even get the $2 off anything for Monday night! BAIT & SWITCH! There was no music for ambiance or even a big screen TV. Nice micro beers, home-made iced tea in small cute glasses, fresh salad and home-style potato wedges. First and foremost, I do not recommend. Went there with family members (total 7) on a Saturday around noon. You order at the front before you take a number and a table. As we ordered, my grandson wanted a slice of their "chocolate pumpkin pie" advertised on a card in front of the register (cost $12). As I started to pay the cashier, I noticed an item that cost $45 before the screen quickly changed to the "tip" inquiry. I asked to see the itemized screen and questioned the $45 charge. The cashier said, "Oh, that is wrong...I was thinking you were ordering the entire pie we had offered before Thanksgiving." She then went on to say that it wasn't a "chocolate pumpkin pie" and that it was a "chocolate spice cake", then said, "actually, it is just a chocolate cake." I told her I didn't want it. Then the old tip shaming.....asking for an automated tip before I see the service. Then the cashier then told me that the food would come out at different times since their kitchen was so small. She wasn't kidding....our food was brought out over a 15 minute period. Some people were finished eating before others started. Food was good, but not outstanding. Servings were small. I can't say enough about what Chef Deborah Williamson has given to Hurst and the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area with the opening of James Provisions. I went to Deborah's first restaurant called James in Brooklyn, NY, and she has now brought that New Yorker foodie experience to us lucky folks here in Texas! The butcher steak was beyond delicious; crispy chickpeas melt (and crunch!) in your mouth followed up with her tasty kale salad of ricotta almonds and fried egg. And you have to do the Fallen Chocolate cake. It's called Fallen because it fell to us from heaven. This is truly a destination restaurant. And don't forget to follow all of this up with the Smoked Paloma (using Mezcal instead of tequila). Finally, don't get me started on the burgers.
