Not a bad restaurant. I didn't know it was a chain, maybe a franchise. There are a few features that make these types of restaurants easy to spot. They have the various different flavored tea. The Decor, cute, and effective. It's like there is a vibe of trying to be a local restaurant yet they are trying to survive in a corporate world. Now me being a T1D foodie means that I seek out meals comprised of meat and vegetables. Being a diabetic foodie is not fun or easy. My number one midday option is salad. If I were ever to be in a position in the restaurant world where I could Influence the menu, I would definitely make a true meal size salad a common option industry wide. In my opinion, ordering a salad isn't secret code for "I really don't want to eat." This is nothing against the original chophouse in particular because I have a hard time finding a salad at any restaurant that hits the spot. Yes, when we left the restaurant, I was still hungry. My wife didn't enjoy her meal very much because there was way too much salad dressing for her liking. The kids enjoyed it, I think. My little boy will eat just about anything. I never know what my daughter's gonna do in the way of ingesting calories. All I can do is offer her food and see what happens. There was nothing extraordinary about this little place. Unfortunately, for any business in Southlake, I seem to put higher expectations on them when I'm in that area. I don't guess that's fair to anyone involved with whatever kind of business transaction I may find myself dealing with while in that part of town. Almost every item is simple and good for you. We ordered two protein bowls. "Thai Coconut Chicken" - $12.50 (Jasmine Rice, Peanuts, Cilantro and Black Beans.) The protein bowl was very flavorful. It was a lot of food. You could easily take it home for your second meal. "Teriyaki Chicken" - $12.50 (Avocado, Brussels Sprouts, Sesame Seed, Black Beans and Roasted Veggies.) This bowl was also full of healthy ingredients and could easily be considered as a second meal. Both bowls offered fresh and clean ingredients. Plenty of seating available. Out on their patio you have about, ten tables and twenty-four yellow chairs. Inside, you can find seating galore. Thirty-two wooden tables and about sixty-plus wooden chairs. It does resemble features of a farm look. It was a clean environment. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it if you're looking to eat good food... Guilt free. Only thing I'd mention is if you're going to use the restrooms and need to wash your hands, they have a sign with pointing arrows showing you to bend over under the sink and push a small black button to turn water On. We absolutely love getting Original ChopShop catered for our meetings. It's filling yet fresh. Everything is so yummy. We always get compliments when someone is from out of town and has never tried it. Their catering menu is a little different from their in store menu. I have visited many locations across DFW and this is an amazing addition to the community. The food is OUTSTANDING - I've tried so many of their dishes and am never disappointed. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a shake/juice for a quick snack; they have it all and do it so well. Their teas and lemonades are also so yummy!! Service here is great for both dine-in and takeout. Employees will always greet you with a smile, willingness to help, and check on you many times to make sure you're happy. I order pick up at this location very frequently and am constantly amazed at how quickly they prepare orders and that the orders are ALWAYS made correctly. I've never had any issues and I am someone who frequently modifies/add things to my order, so I know I'm not the easiest customer LOL. I have ate at their other locations before and usually would get one of their sandwhiches. I decided to try this location for carry-out and also try something new for me - which was the Hot Honey Bowl. I always like a good spice with my food, but a lot of items that say there is spice usually have a distant taste of it (if any at all) or way too much that you don't get to enjoy the food. Not the Hot Honey Bowl - this might be one of my go-to options from now on. It was packed with flavor, had a good amount of chicken included, and the spice level was perfect in complimenting the flavor profiles of this dish. I ordered via their website and the food was ready when I got there about 10-15 minutes later. The only complaint about the online ordering process is that you have to create an account which took some extra time to do from my phone, I wish they would allow for guest checkout like most other places. I'm pretty routine so once I like something it's hard to get me to change it up. I've gotten the Avocado Toast a few times and it has been so good every time. You may say it's Avocado toast.. it's not that hard, but I've been to places where it's been awful. The Avocado is always perfect as well as seasoned tomatoes. Great flavor and the chili pepper flakes add the right amount of spice. It's my favorite! I've also had the Grilled Steak sandwich and it was delicious! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Food was just okay I was disappointed to find my runny eggs spilling onto paper which was on a metal charger; using a plastic fork and spoon, and it cut the paper. I wish the presentation was better and they had actual metal utensils and ceramic plates. Just a thought. I crunched into my eggs, eating a shell. I understand there are a lot of folks that really like this location. But from my visit, I'd have to say it is an average lunch option. Some minor complaints include - sandwiches which are somewhat sloppy to eat, yet seem rather small considering the relatively high price. Taste-wise, this was about the same as you'd get at Panera or McAllister. And even though the order was for dining there, it was packaged to-go. My main gripe is this is a cashless location. Given data breaches seem to be a daily occurrence, sometimes I just want to pay in cash. But that's not an option here. And the "forced" tipping tab on the iPad when you check out is a bit cheeky. Given the relatively high price of the menu, you'd think they would pay staff more than minimum wage. If they are, then asking for tips on top of that is really pushing it. I'm glad there are more salad and vegetarian options in Soutlake. I'm glad I tried this one, but I think I won't return. read more
