This place was an incredible experience from start to finish. We sat outside on the patio because there was a wait for an indoor table with A/C, but honestly, the outdoor area was lovely. The surrounding area is charming and enjoyable to walk around. Our server, Macy, made some excellent recommendations, and everything we tried was delicious. The chicken and waffles were a highlight--the chicken was lightly breaded, beautifully seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The pancakes were incredibly fluffy, and the waffles were delicious too. What really made this place stand out, though, was the exceptional attentiveness from the entire team. It wasn't just Macy; staff members regularly came by to refill our water, add ice, and refresh our cold-brewed tea. The manager herself stopped by several times to make sure our drinks were topped up and that everything was going well. That level of genuine care makes such a difference. It's the kind of service that makes you want to come back again and again and eventually make a place your local favorite. Pretty frustrating experience at Whistle Britches in Southlake. I came in with my son and my dad, so we were a party of three. We were told they had a table coming available soon. While we were waiting, another party of two came in after us, and the staff decided to seat them first at a table that could easily accommodate four people. When I asked how much longer our wait would be after that, I was told about another 10 minutes. I understand making accommodations when needed, but if you are going to skip people who were already waiting and give away a table that fits their party, at least explain what is happening. From our perspective, we were told a table was coming up, watched people who arrived after us get seated at an appropriately sized table, and then were told to keep waiting. The whole thing felt poorly managed and unnecessarily frustrating. read more

Been a bit since I've been to Whistle Britches. Frequently went to Dallas location before they closed. Disappointed that they reduced the size of their sides and Love Me Tender no longer comes with homemade biscuit and jam. Also, they no longer have house made hot sauces and honey at the table. This was my first time dining here though I'd heard it was good. That was a tremendous understatement! We happened in on a Friday afternoon while doing some shopping in the area. We had a couple of cocktails, couple of appetizers and each had an entree. This was WAAAY more food than anticipated. Right away, the biscuits were incredibly well made. The chef's special wings appetizer include 3 JUMBO wings that took a while to appear but were well worth the wait. We got one of each flavor and were thoroughly impressed with each. I asked whether I should order tenders or pork chop and it was suggested that I go with the pork chop which was excellent. She also enjoyed the catfish entree. September 2025 Saturday B r u n c h Parking- there's plenty of parking in the lot across from the restaurant, and parking along the street. Restaurant- clean. Temperature: cool. Seating: Booth options and table options available. They take reservations, or walk ins. The restrooms are individual restrooms- not stalls. They were also clean; however, the paper towels are close to the toilet, and uncovered- so I did not use those because of sanitary reasons. Drinks: my friend ordered the Berry Smash ($13) and she said it was good. I did not drink- but the water was good. ;) Food: She ordered the shrimp and grits. Grits were flavorful, and the shrimp (4 pieces, grilled) was just ok. Re-orderable, nonetheless. I ordered the Chilaquiles - I enjoyed this dish. It was $17 on the menu, yet $19 on the check (I will address this later). Both of us ordered a side of ham. $6 each. Meals were both good. Pricing: Average pricing. Please see the menu attached because "average" may be inexpensive to some, and too expensive for others. Now, to the hiccups that keep this from being a 5 star experience: My friend did find a hair on her plate under the ham. She had already been eating, and saw this later. She alerted Sydney, our server, who alerted the manager on duty. He came over and offered to replace the ham and remove it from the check. He took care of it, just like a great manager would have. I noticed that he was present, attentive, and asking tables about their dining experience earlier - so I knew this location was managed well. To the second hiccup-- As a reviewer, I always take a photo of the menu, the food, and the beverages. My check listed the Chilaquiles for $19, so I went back to my photo and noticed a discrepancy in the pricing listed ($17). Some may think "it's just $2" but it's important to me that what's listed is what's honored, no matter the price. When she grabbed our cards /checks, I asked Sydney if she could honor the price that was on the menu. I don't know if she was taken aback, annoyed, caught off guard, or what-- but the facial expression at my request was.....odd. My friend even spoke about it when she walked away, which confirmed my feelings. Either way, the price was adjusted, and I paid and tipped the standard 20%. After this, I did not note a lingering issue.....She even held the door open when we left. So there's that :) I will definitely return- overall it was a good pick for our Saturday brunch. read more

Visited for the first time for brunch with some friends. When I entered, the ambiance seemed bright and lively and I was immediately greeted by the kind hostess. She led me back to the table with my friends and created some small talk on the way, so that was a nice change of pace, considering many people just point you on your way. We were seated near the back which seemed to be somewhat like an open kitchen feel, which I actually thought was pretty cool. Our waitress was very fast and helpful with picking out our foods based on our likes. Once the food came out, everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals, including myself. We started the table off with the biscuits and fried green tomatoes (demolished!). I kept it simple with the chicken and waffles (delicioius and crispy), which was a HUGE helping (yum!). Others at my table enjoyed the the shrimp and grits and WB chicken sandwich. No complaints heard from them! The catfish meal is pretty good. I ordered the mac & cheese would prefer to have the fries. It could use a little more cheese sauce, and flavor/seasoning. The fish sandwich was huge and very flavorful. The chicken wings are very crispy but slightly underdone. It was very hard to pull the chicken apart to eat it. It was fully cooked, however it was much better when I took it home and put it in the air fryer. We ordered the kids meal and couldn't decide if we wanted fries or apple slices. The waitress said oh don't worry I'll get you a side of apple slices and when we got the bill, the apples were four dollars-not worth it. Came here one one after work, and it was fairly empty. We got seated immediately, but the seats (booths) were next to the wall for two people. It kinda weird, since sharing the foot rest was like playing footsie with the other people at the table. lol Anyways, we ended up getting the fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles and the Country Fried Steak (CFS). I really enjoyed the fried chicken here, the breading it really good and the chicken is moist. The chicken and waffles comes with an interesting spicy jam, and it went well with the waffles. The CFS was really filling, it came with mash potatoes and green beans. The service was really good as well. Prompt and waitress came by often to check in on us. I had my eye on this location for a good while so finally a made a lunch date to make it happen. Place is very cute ambiance and the service was impeccable. Now on to the fun stuff, our order. We requested water as our drink and little did we know the water was not complimentary in the end. Ma's Meatloaf $21 Angus beef, whipped potatoes, black pepper bourbon glaze, and green beans. --The potatoes were bland, and the bourbon glaze was not a good mix to have on top of the meatloaf. Honestly, the entire meal was lacking. My wife doesn't even like grits, but she kept sneaking bites off my plate, so... I think any grits fan will definitely find them satisfying. So I've probably been here 50 times or more since they opened in Southlake.I was a big fan of the one at the mall location over in Plano. Interestingly, they are owned by a very innovative group that also has a stellar Mexican restaurant called Muchacho with locations in Dallas and Southlake as well. However, and unfortunately. Service and quality has dropped off at the one in Southlake over the last year. It looks like they're having a hard time keeping staff. And it just doesn't seem to get the business that you would expect which is very unfortunate. So, after not trying them for the last six months or so, I tried them again about six weeks ago and was actually quite pleased. It looked like they were trying to improve the menu and improve the drinks offered. Thought that was a good start. Then I went in last week, Tried the hanger steak au poive and a side wedge salad. My wife had the Whistle Britches sandwich. The steak was tough, which I did not expect. The au poive sauce was very thick almost like they used too much starch and it needed to be thinned out before serving. It was also kind of clumpy. The wedge salad was very good, although the chicken in my wife's sandwich was, I would say inferior and not the same quality. They were serving 3-5 years ago at Whistle Britches. I love biscuits and Whistle Britches makes some good biscuits just another reason to visit Southlake Towne Center area to shop and enjoy some good eats while at it. Located right off main with a parking lot right across from it, one of the easier parking options in the Center. Service was friendly and informative Lunch, Brunch is 1 page. We started with the pickled jalapeno Cornbread delicious. For our meal we had their namesake Whistle Britches Sandwich and Sir Mix a Lot plate which consisted of Fried Chicken,Cole Slaw Biscuits, Honey and Kettle Chips all served within a reasonable time frame. First time diving into Southern comfort food and I'm hooked! Jalapeño cornbread with honey drizzle -- sweet, spicy, and addictive. Hands down, this is the best fried chicken I have EVER had. I even ordered two tenders a la carte because the 4 on my plate wasn't enough! The collard greens were excellent, the drinks were strong. I have never been made to feel so embarrassed, uncomfortable, or unwelcome at a restaurant as I was yesterday. My baby was having a hard moment, and I was doing my best to calm him and feed him. Instead of approaching the situation with kindness or offering any help, the manager came over and told me that other customers had asked to move tables because of him. When I asked if she meant because of me, she said no and looked at my baby. When I asked, "Because of him?" she said yes. She then asked if I wanted food for him, even though we already had food in front of us and I was actively trying to feed him. She repeated that customers were asking to be moved and then walked away. I was so humiliated and upset that I picked up my baby and walked out crying while the rest of my family was still inside finishing their food. Another table even spoke up and said, "Are you kidding me? He's a baby," because they were shocked by how the manager handled it. After taking a moment to calm down, I asked to speak with the manager outside. I asked if she was a mother, and she told me she was even a grandmother. That made it even more disappointing. She saw a mom struggling with a baby and chose to shame us instead of showing compassion or offering support. When I told her there were kinder ways to approach the situation, she said she had an entire dining room of people to care for. Unfortunately, it felt like that care did not extend to me, my baby, or my family. I understand that restaurants have to consider all guests, but babies cry. Parents struggle sometimes. A little compassion would have gone a long way. Instead, I left feeling humiliated, unwelcome, and heartbroken by the way we were treated. I am a simple sandwich guy and always love a good BLT. The fried green tomato BLT is a good twist and it tastes great, The texas toast was grilled perfect with butter add that with the crunch of the tomato and we are off to a great start. The pimento cheese gave the creamy texture and of course the bacon. Everything is better with bacon, the saltiness made for a great flavor profile. The had house sauces that you could try (chili sauce and mango habanero). They were both great and added the perfect amount of heat and sweet to the sandwich. It's been sittin' here for a while without us getting around to trying it, but finally did today and it's good reviews are deserved. The chicken is a tiny bit spicy, just a pinch, and is big and tender. The crust is good, not too much and not too little. I got the Love Me Tender, and despite bein' a growin' boy, I actually couldn't finish it, so the portions are very nice. The potato salad was really good, but being a side-lover, I personally could have gone with a tad less chicken in favor of a bit more side, but it's fine. The biscuits are large enough to turn out as actual sandwich "buns", so they are very big and nice quality. Service and atmosphere is great (had enough country music to do me for a year or two). I was shopping across the street at The Container Store when I noticed the sign for Whistle Britches; I was hungry and a little thirsty so I ordered a beer and perused the menu. Two items caught my eye: the prime beef sandwich and the Tacos Por Favor (crispy chicken tacos) both loaded with things I loved-after discussing with the bartender, I decided on the tacos...and they were sublime! All the flavors melded perfectly with a crispy crunch from the chicken and the avocado sauce brought it all home! This food is EXCELLENT and the service and ambiance is truly welcoming! We ate brunch here on both a Saturday and Sunday. Had the shrimp and grits, smoked trout spread, biscuits and gravy, and a cappuccino over the two brunches. The shrimp and grits can be shared. I added an over easy egg on top - recommend a sunny side egg also. The shrimp was nicely grilled (four large, well seasoned prawns), and the grits had a tomato based sauce that had a little, flavorful heat and a wee-bit of acidity that balanced really well with the grits that would have been rich without the sauce. The biscuits and gravy was really good too. Biscuits were nicely baked. We could have used a little more gravy. The portion size was three biscuits and could also be shared. The smoked trout spread came with crackers. The spread had pickled onions on top that, like the sauce on the grits, gave a nice balance of acidity to cut the richness of the spread. It was really good! For what I thought would have been a heavy breakfast place, the Whistle Britches restaurant offered really good food with nice balance that didn't leave me feeling like I needed a nap afterwards. Lastly, the ambiance was really nice. The red is clean and nicely decorated. I liked the choices for seating from tables, to booths, to a bar. A good way to accommodate a diversity of families, couples, and single diners. And the servers... they were very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu, and they were on top of getting orders right and getting food out to the tables. This was my first time coming here. We were celebrating a birthday. They were definitely crowed on a Sunday. The food was pretty good. Everyone loved their food. I had a good time. The only thing they did was messed my eggs up and I wish they had plain grits instead of jalapeño grits only. I will definitely go back again to try more food. The wait staff was very nice read more
