Charged $125 to come diagnose a problem with my dryer. Quoted a heating element repair at $350. I have had it done in the past for $150 from a company 60 miles away. The part is no more than $50. I bought it online for $25. I ended up replacing it myself with no experience whatsoever. Shady company and they are now calling themselves "James River Innovations." Let me just say that I didn't choose this company, it was chosen for me. It should have been a major warning when appointments were made for specific times and not met. For instance, the owner told me they would be there between 4 and 6, but I received a call at work at 1:15 saying they were at my house. HUH? Until I can clone myself there is no way I could be in two places at once. So finally after they actually show up, the technician looks at my fairly new appliance (only 3 years old) like he's never seen one before and then asks me to look up the service manual for the model online. Shouldn't an appliance repair company ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO FIX APPLIANCES? In any event, after they "fix" the problem (several months later...so if you're looking for speedy service forget it) and less than 60 days later the same problem occurs. Had to call them back because the repair was under warranty; this time it takes 4 occasions for them to finally get the time correct & actually show up. One month later, still nothing from them. I guess they don't want to fix anything which won't make them additional money; that 90 day warranty is about as useful as a used piece of toilet paper. What a scam! This company required my 85 year old mother to pay a deposit for a job...they came out - didn't do half the work and were supposed to come back the following day to finish. They never returned to finish the service call and then charged my mother the remaining balance! She called over a dozen times to find out when they were coming out and they never returned her calls even at one time speaking to the owner who was anything but helpful. Needless to say - she will have to find another company to finish the job - hopefully one that is more professional and not looking to take advantage of the elderly. read more

Our 10 yr old Maytag dishwasher stopped working. We called Sears. They could not come out for a week. We called ABC because of a display ad in Yellow Pages. After a missed appointment and a late arrival next day, the repairman said the dishwasher was unrepairable. He offered to provide a new Whirlpool. We agreed. We paid his $85 call charge (about standard-Sears charges $75.) and a down payment on the new machine. The first call to install was voided because "the dishwasher wasn't on the truck." He instaled the new machine collected the remainder of the bill-nearly $800 on CC . We asked for a bill. He said "I'll have to email you one." To date we have not been able to get an itemized bill after several phone calls. We checked the dishwasher at Lowes. It is the cheapest of the line and has been discontinued! We are investigating legal recourse. We are both 87 and should have known better. This doesn't deserve one star but it is required. read more

Zero Stars. Worthless. They came out once, paid about $400, less than 1 week later same problem with my refrigerator. Then it was they had to order the part. It was ordered the end of August. All during September it was... "the part should be in next week." Now it's almost the end of October and they won't return my calls. Worthless.... don't trust them !!!!!! Rip offs......... Terrible Company! They have set-up appointments to install a part into my refrigerator and then they just do not show up! No call back, nothing! This is the worst company I have ever done business with. The technician was late for the first service call, required me to pay a deposit, and told me that the parts would be in within 2 days. After calling him 4 or 5 times to set up the next appointment, he stated that the parts were not going to be in until Friday. Had to call him another 6 or 7 times to schedule the next service appointment (for Saturday afternoon). Lastly, he never showed up for the service appointment. He had my money, but no service was ever provided. I'm contacting my attorney to deal with him. Please, whatever you do, do not use this company -- they are a fraud!! read more

These folks charged $85 to come out and diagnose the problem. Their diagnosis: the washing machine motor was going bad. Immediately my gut instinct questioned this; my intuition tells me it is not. Nonetheless, they claimed they could fix the problem and would come out that following Sunday (yes on Sunday...which I thought was odd). Of course, Sunday came and they were no show. A week passes; a msg is left on our answering machine saying, "We will call you to arrange a time to come out this weekend". So, here it is, Saturday, and still, no word. I placed a call this morning to the number they provided when they came out for the diagnosis. The number connects you to an answering service who supposedly gives ABC the message. The answering service took down all our information and two cellphone numbers we left with them so they could call us back. We were politely told by the answering service we would receive a call back within a half an hour. Well, here it is, the same day, 1:33 p.m. and NO WORD from the A--holes. The initial call to them was placed this morning at 10:15 a.m. Irrate? No, that does not even begin to describe how I feel at the moment. Listen folks, we are out $145; I have no intention of doing any further business with them. Other reviews have indicated they have numerous complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I am chalking this one up to a lesson learned: RESEARCH A COMPANY BEFORE you use them. For starters, this company has an ad posted for 24 hr. svc. My husband called on a Sunday and they were not able to come out until the following afternoon. The guys were not professional at all. They showed up in plain clothes and a personal vehicle with less tools than i keep in my kitchen. They wanted to charge me $175 to fix the door switch on my washer. After rejecting that price they agreed to bypass the switch for $125 and also fix my squeeking dryer for an additional $50. Five minutes after they left, my dryer had the same problem it had when they arrived. I immediately called back and they were not able to come out until 2 days later. Upon the return they were supposed to give a 30 minute call ahead, they didn't call until they had already arrived at my house. I had to rush home and then they tell me that it will cost an additional $125 -$150 to fix the dryer problem that I had already paid the $50 to fix. And the kicker is that they were going to have to "come back" to fix it. Which means they came twice and didn't fix my problem. After calling the "Owner" and explaining my concerns he hung up on me. Guess we didn't see eye to eye. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT CALL THESE GUYS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED!!! read more
