Besides John, and another tailor up the road, most tailors seem to have no clue what they're talking about. With John, its different. This guy is your definition of a South Philly, Old School, Italian tailor. He makes all his suits by hand, and the attention to detail is just insane. While I do not have the means to pay for him to make me a suit from scratch (which when I do, hopefully he'll be the guy) after chatting a few minutes he was more than willing to explain to me the in's and out's of a suit, what could work for me off the rack, and what he would do to help make it look as close to hand made as possible. He didn't have to say anything except "you can't afford me". The guy loves what he does, is obviously one of the best, but he's also super nice. Better than the suits that he makes is his shop, the atmosphere. There's so much history from this city in there, and in his stories. This man has made suits for everyone from Eagles HOF'r Pete Retzlaf to Ed Snyder and Gene Hart and countless others in between. If you can afford to have him make you a suit, or even a few shirts, I say go for it. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer, more talented tailor in the city.

We brought in a tuxedo bought somewhere else, and he didn't try and push a sale of one of his own. I don't want to suggest bringing in last minute work, but if you do need it - he's your guy. The new suit was not previously tailored. The older suit was ill-fitting since I had lost weight, and the cuffed pant leg style looked a bit dated. Larry measured me for both suits and listened to my concerns about fit and style. He made excellent suggestions -- particularly for the older suit, for which he had pointed out that the previous tailor had cut corners to complete the job faster. Larry assured me that he takes pride to ensure that quality work is done on each garment, and that he personally tailors each piece. And his commitment to quality shows. Inside of a week, Larry had both suits ready for me, but not before a call mid-week to let me know he had found a moth hole in the collar of the older suit jacket. I asked him to patch and repair it, and he do so expertly. The older suit looks in perfect condition when worn now. Larry was able get the fit right the first time on both the new and older suit. The suit pants contour perfectly, and the jackets present just the right lines across the shoulders without creasing. He completely breathed new life into the old suit, and the updated look fixed all the issues I had with it prior. I'm so happy to add both a new suit and an refreshed old suit into my work attire options. Larry's prices were extremely reasonable, turn around time was quick, and quality was top notch. I plan on using his services for all my future garment needs.

It's my first time having any clothing tailored, and I was really nervous when I first brought my…read moresuit to Ron. After about half an hour, I left feeling reassured that my suit was in good hands. About a week and a half later, I am glad to confirm that my gut reaction was right - I picked up my suit today and Ron did an excellent job! The suit was tailored to my expectations, exactly as we had discussed. You can tell that Ron takes pride in the quality of his work. He uses some machine sewing, but a good deal of hand-stitching. During our initial meeting, I was struck by his attention to detail. He was very honest with me about what he would and wouldn't be able to do, a quality which I think is very important. He also clearly has an eye for fashion, and all of his suggestions on how to tailor the suit were very tasteful - hence, why I felt comfortable leaving my suit in his hands. In addition, you get to try on your clothes when you pick them up, to make sure that everything is to your liking. I was charged $200 to have multiple alterations to my suit jacket, suit skirt, suit pants, and blouse - this may seem like a lot, but Ron broke down the prices for me, and his prices are comparable to most tailors' in Philadelphia. He gives a slight discount to first-time customers, too! Ron told me several times that if, after a few wears, I decided I wasn't 100% pleased with the changes, I could bring it back in and he would alter it/adjust things for free. I really appreciate this guarantee - it's further proof that Ron prides himself on quality. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 instead of 5/5 stars is because my suit wasn't 100% ready when it was supposed to be. I called the morning I was supposed to pick up my suit to confirm that it was ready, but when I walked in at 5pm, Ron apologized and told me he still had to finish my blouse and steam my pants since he's been so swamped. Luckily, Ron and I had discussed that I would be picking up my suit 3 days before I absolutely needed it, to give some leeway. He told me he could finish it up in 15 minutes, but I didn't want to rush him (it's my only suit, after all!!) so we agreed that I would return the next day. I was happy to see that my suit was ready this second time. Ron's business is in high demand, so if you drop off your clothes with him, it's kind of on you to contact him a day or two before to make sure your clothes will be finished as scheduled. I definitely trust the quality of Ron's work and his excellent service. I'll be bringing back my next suit, dress, or other more complicated piece of clothing to the Wardrobe Clinic. However, for more simple and time-sensitive alterations, I might opt to stop by my local dry cleaner's.

I wanted to like this place, but my experience with recent shirt tailoring was disappointing and…read morebelow basic standards of workmanship. I have been going to this tailor for a couple of months. I recently brought in a white button-down that needed the torso tapered. When I picked it up, the shirt still fit noticeably loose, and when I looked inside to understand why, I found several issues with the alteration work: - The back darts were sewn asymmetrically -- they start and end at noticeably different heights on each side. - The dart points were left bulky and puckered instead of pressed flat, creating visible bumps under the fabric when worn. - Loose threads and uneven stitching were present on both darts. - The side seam taper ended in a crooked, unfinished fold that looks rushed and sits uncomfortably inside the hem. I asked about the loose fit when picking the shirt up and was told "shirts are supposed to have room," but the garment still balloons excessively when tucked in, which defeats the purpose of tailoring a fitted dress shirt. I have attached photos of the inconsistencies and have marked them in red and black for the viewer's convenience.
