We have been wintering in San Diego from Minnesota for 16 years. This past winter, we opted to rent a condo unit through Downtown Condo Guys. It was disaster from the beginning, right through until even after we left. To be fair, the unit was not prepared to be rented. The plumbing was defective a good share of the time; we used plungers in tub and shower; the light fixture series in bath went out completely for five days before repair; the freezer malfunctioned, melting on the floor; handymen came and went at will to assemble furniture, remove furniture; requests made for repairs were slow at response; the washer and dryer completely broke down. We waited a month for it to be replaced. It never was....oh....until five hours after our final departure. The inconceivable event though, was our parking spaces, which were occupied by Management, as they rented out their own spaces. Jamie had an excuse for each event, naturally redirecting blame. I was was almost embarrassed to listen the excuses being manufactured, as he presented them. It was almost a desperate situation for him, as he realized and admitted the fiasco we had lived through. I have certainly learned not to fall for glowing reviews, that he had accumulated. We have now experienced interaction with Downtown Condo Guys and would never, ever recommend to anyone to experience the same. During the coronavirus pandemic threat/shut down-I posted in the Next-door app that I am alone taking care of my toddler and have diminished lung capacity from a pre-existing condition. Although I am not elderly, I am considered high risk for coronavirus. Years ago, I contracted tuberculosis from working with homeless children. I'm fine now, can't contract TB to anyone-but my lungs never recovered. Jamie Pullman kindly bought groceries for me and my 20 month old toddler. He generously posted on next-door that he was willing to help those who were at home with errands, grocery shopping, etc. What surprised me was how exceptionally thorough and professional he was-even with a task in which he was doing a favor for someone he had never even met in person. He actually video recorded the inventory at Trader Joe's to show me what they had in stock. He wrote an encouraging note to me, and bought orchids as a gift. He also bought my toddler a bunch of healthy snacks and treats-in addition to the groceries on the itemized list that I emailed him. I had expected to pay Jamie for the groceries-but he wouldn't let me. I asked him to screen shot the receipt, so that I could Venmo him the cost of the groceries. He bought the groceries, and delivered them to our home. He stood respectfully 6 feet away from us to keep us safe, left the groceries by my front door, and said "it's on me...Pay it forward!" I immediately sent Jamie some money through Venmo-not knowing how much the groceries cost him. But he then returned the Venmo amount to me, and refused to take my money. This man has never seen me or met me before. Then two days later-he texted asking me if there was anything else he could do for me and my toddler. This is not a fake review. I am not making up some heartwarming story to manipulate or deceive anyone. This man went above and beyond to help out a stranger and her child without expecting recognition or payment. Jamie did this out of the goodness of his heart. There are many real estate agents here-many people who know the San Diego housing market and have connections/know-how. It's clear from the stream of five star reviews on yelp-that Jamie's a man who is at the top of his professional game in a supremely competitive industry. But at the end of the day-among the many excellent or noteworthy realtors in the greater San Diego county area-I would pick someone who is genuinely kind, compassionate, and honest. Yes, he has the technical expertise and know how to handle your real-estate related needs professionally and astutely- But he is also a person of integrity and excellent character. You want to entrust your home or your property with someone who is for you, not just out for him or herself. There are so many charlatans and people who will say what you want to hear to seal the housing deal. It is a VERY competitive market and although I am somewhat familiar with San Diego, it took quite a few weekend visits to tour several units at a time just to find the units weren't as expected from the photos, neighborhoods were more sketchy than I felt safe in, or for those that really had what I was looking for, were typically gone in less than 24 hours. When I spoke with Jamie he immediately put my preferences on his portal that was emailed to me with updates - all with new potentials that fit my needs and expectations. I received alerts even before they officially came on market and Jamie was able to get me into a unit to be one of the first to view in which I was able to secure quickly due to his expedited responses with my paperwork. When we toured the unit, the location, views, spacing, and storage was everything I wanted. There were some scuff marks and touch ups needed when we toured the unit in person and Jamie was my advocate in speaking to the other agent and ensuring any minor blemishes to the unit were called out and fixed on my behalf. Me and my wife, not familiar with DTSD, had Jamie show us numerous units over a period of 2 days. I've purchased 5 homes in my life, each with varying levels of good service... but NO agent has come CLOSE to Jamie Pullman's level of patience, knowledge, and perseverance. We had numerous units we wanted to see... he completely devoted himself to us. He gave us a tour of DTSD as we saw the units and gave us detailed/ insider info that no regular agent would know. Me and my wife are OCD to the max and what he didn't know (very little), he did research and immediately found out. When we were done looking and heading off to dinner (with no idea where to go), he gave us a personal walking tour of Little Italy and pointed out various places he recommended. No agent takes so much of his time for you, for so little a thing. One final note, he is constantly smiling and good natured, but when he gives you information he tells you as it is, the good and bad, and I cannot stress how much I appreciated this. All the good things that everyone has said about Jamie are really true. He was the best realtor I've ever worked with and a great conversationalist as well as very knowledgable about all the properties and the downtown situation. We not only got a good idea of the real estate market from Jamie, but also a feel for the various districts where we looked at properties.
