Having our original plan fallen through, we went up the street to find a quick solution to our hunger. And unlike the "happy mistake" that I picked out of the freezer, this place was anything but. We wanted pizza, and they were only offering pepperoni, so I skipped out. We were all curious about the Blue Moon mystery, so not seeing anything worth my banging buck on the vegan menu, I picked the Happy Mistake, marked a dollar out of the freezer, only to be told by another disinterested employee that it was in the system for $2 despite the sticker and then she would not change it. Still nobody could figure out the mystery but I think I won today. Or maybe not considering the ceiling dripped on me as flies buzzed around my head. There's a sign explaining that prices are inflated due to the nature of today's world but they don't post the new prices which for a group on a budget definitely knocks it down a star. And honestly the only thing giving it the star is that they boast a long list of Perry's to choose from. There are too many other options in this neighborhood for a quick bite to suggest coming here. Recently after my mom had dental extractions, we decided to stop for a milkshake. The girl that wait on me was extremely pleasent and helpful. The location and place itself was convenient for a one stop purchase for pizza through Wurtilzer Company or icecream. The baby twist ordered was fine, a few stars were taking off for the milkshake. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed learning the difference between custard and regular ice cream. I ordered a root beer float that was delicious. I've tried about 5 different flavours, which they vary often, and every single one I've had was perfect. The vanilla, the chocolate, the strawberry, and others. While I prefer the custard at the heavenly Hibbard's in Lewiston, and for hard ice cream I'm more into Antoinette's and Sweet Jenny's, when it comes to soft serve in WNY other than Hibbard's, it's Jamie's and it's Green Acres. Absolute perfection. Not a lot of people know about Jamie's, and maybe North Tonawanda locals would like it to stay that way. This is not somewhere that kids and families from all over the region will come for ice cream. It's a neighbourhood shop for people who live in these parts. But I'm not one of those types who wants a place to be hush hush and secret. Had a meeting at the public library in NT and couldn't miss a chance to stop in for ice cream. My two friends got the orange chocolate custard. They loved it just isn't my thing. Decided to order my childhood favorite Perry's "Mint ting a ling." Upon first bite it was obvious it was not mint ting a ling as advertised but some kind of mint chocolate chip. My son took it back up to the window and explained this is not what we had ordered. The girl said "Oh, we don't have Mint ting a ling right now just Mint Chocolate chip but we can remake you something for $1" by this time the ice cream is starting to melt every where. I go back up this time and explain that you have something advertised, we were not told it wasn't available when we ordered, I'd like something different please. I stopped by this ice cream shoppe while home in WNY on a quick trip. I was craving soft serve with sprinkles. You don't really get that kind of ice cream elsewhere, especially where I live in CO. I have three favorite ice cream places in the 716, and this is one of them, (Condrell's and Nina's are my other faves). If pressed to choose a top-spot, most days this would be it. Jamie's has excellent soft-serve, and my favorite fluffer-nutter sundae in town. I have quite the discerning marshmallow-PB palate, and this sundae does not disappoint--lots of gooey sauce, whipped cream, and reeses-pieces a top airy, light vanilla soft-serve. It is simple bliss. My fam' is always pleased with their picks too; the hubbs likes a cherry-chocolate sundae concoction, and the kids usually go for one of the wide-array of hard-scoop Perry's flavors. The atmosphere is a bit 80s, a bit old-timey, with ample seating inside and out. Prices are very reasonable, and the teens who work the counter are usually pleasant. Attached to Jamie's is Wurlitzer Pizza, so you can make a whole gluttonous meal out of one visit, if you'd like. In the summer the ice cream line can get long, but they keep it moving pretty quickly and it is worth the wait. I have come into jamies the past two days and it's ridicoulus at how much an ice cream cone has cost. I used to come here because it was the cheapest place around. NOW three small cones cost $20 and then the next day a small cone and dole whip cost $15... and both times we ask the worker if that's correct and both times they gave us attitude and said yeah that's correct. DO NOT have your prices listed if you're going to double the price at checkout. NEVER coming here again unless the idiot workers learn how to use a cash register and read prices correctly. Jamie's is awesome. Although the inside does smell a bit like fryer grease (thanks to Wurlitzer Pizza which shares a building) they serve up Perry's ice cream, which everyone knows is the best. My only complaint is that a baby-size cone is easily enough for two adults, but since the prices are so reasonable I don't complain very hard. (Plus, extra ice cream). This location is in route to thruway and my son usually sees it so we stop in. The inside is split with a pizza place so you get the generic grease smell and feel. They have a big ice cream selection but they like many other ice cream shops use younger people to work there. This isn't a bad thing but get ready for the usual double repeating of your order.
