Red Snapper Escovitch with the head on, sweet plaintains, Mac and Cheese, cabbage and rice and peas
    Gail B.

This is a family-owned restaurant on wheels. The Trinidadian-raised mother and her American daughter did the cooking. The son took my order. I had the red snapper escovitcsh with the head on, just like how my West Indian parents used to make on Friday evenings. My order came with cabbage, rice and peas, plantains and Mac and Cheese. The fish had little meat. I expected more for the $15 and change that I paid for it. The Mac and Cheese was tasty and cheesy. The sweet plantains were good. The cabbage and rice and peas were okay. Parking availability in the lot was sparse. Only about three cars could fit in the small lot, perhaps because there was a watermelon vendor whose produce occupied a few parking spaces. I am giving this review four stars because the fish was basically mostly skin and bones. A fattier snapper would have generated five stars for this review.

    Regular Curry Goat Platter!

Some of the best Caribbean food I've ever had! We came about this food truck and were enticed by the meat smoker/grill right next to it. We tried a little bit of everything--Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, and Curry Goat regular-size platters and an extra side of Mac n Cheese. The Jerk Chicken was my personal favorite because it was so flavorful both with its spices and smokiness. You can tell it just came from the smoker. The Oxtail and Curry Goat were also good but the Jerk Chicken was just phenomenal with the additional smoky flavor. Plus the portions here are huge--a regular platter is already a fairly big meal for one. Hope to be back next time I'm in this area of Long Island!

Very few food trucks in the area offering Jamaican food (actually very few Jamaican food places on Long Island as it is). I decided to drive out of the way to try this place. Overall decent food - decided on the jerk chicken with rice/peas. I have had better, I have had worse. Reasonable price and portion will fill you up.

Jerk chicken is the best on the island

This place has the best jerk chicken and rice and beans on the island! Fresh off the grill piping hot food the way it's supposed to be. I just went there and they said they only had one chicken dinner left. Normally when a place says that u have to be ready to eat the bottom of the barrel. When I tell u this chicken tasted like it was just made and with love if I may say so myself just because of the taste! The people are very friendly. I have been there on a few different occasions and it's always a cool vibe they even have music playing. They are very professional and courteous! They smiles make u smile. Thanks for being who you all are factz! Ps the only bad thing is they are only open on the weekends. Please open up at least one more day during the week

Food is good, people are nice. It's a food truck, they had a pop up tent with a few chairs. I would suggest calling ahead to place your order

Great fresh food. I love the Jerk Chicken. I ordered 2 trays of Doubles for my birthday and they were a major hit with everyone.

She instead replied "oh yeah you think it's not even?" I responded again yes, that it wasn't even. She then told me "In life things are not even". She even told me that it is "very expensive" to make this food. I didn't go there for life lessons. I just went there for my food and she's extremely rude for speaking to me like this. I don't understand why I had to go back and forth with this lady but she's just straight up RUDE. The food was not fresh at all and they don't cover the food so it was cold. I ordered 2 medium Rasta pastas with 2 quarter half chicken for $55! That's so wild! They charge you extra if you want the chicken on the side. And on top of that the food smelt spoiled. I couldn't eat it so it ended up straight in the GARBAGE. And this place is straight garbage like the worker's attitude! Save your money and go get food somewhere else!

The plantains weren't that sweet, cabbage was just ok, the curry chicken was very hot. I felt like it was seasoned like jerk chicken. I got a. Chicken beef patty. I think she didn't hear me about the coco bread but that was hot too. If you love spicy food this is the spot for you.

Canzy island taste is by far the best Haitian food I've ever had!…read more The restaurant is within a little shopping mall out in Long Island. From the outside it looks small but the inside was big enough to seat 15-20 people. The server was very helpful with explaining what ever this was and gave me some good suggestions. I ended up having the legumes, black rice and Mac and cheese. The legumes is a veggie stew with meat. The flavor is so rich, deep and delicious. I've never had a veggie stew that made me want to go back for more. The black rice was so good you could eat it by itself. The Mac and cheese was also good. The portion of the dishes were so big for the price. Big enough that I shared it with someone and was able to eat from it 4 times total. Being from BK, I thought we had the best Caribbean food but now I can see that's not true because this restaurant was too good! I will definitely go back for more!

This is a Haitian deli that is in a retail strip with free parking…read more Lalo is their signature dish, and it is only sold on weekends. It is made from jute leaves, fresh crab and beef. Do not confuse this dish with Jamaican Callaloo, which is made from taro (dasheen) leaves and is often combined with salt fish. The owners make their own passionfruit and ginger juice. The ginger juice is potent. It is stronger than any ginger beer that I have ever tasted. I have to dilute it with some water. I am only giving this deli three stars because it is a new business that must iron out some kinks. For one, sometimes all the daily specials are not put out by noon. Number two, the interior design needs updating.
