I ordered the jerk chicken. The platter comes with a quarter chicken of dark meat and a side of rice (smothered in delicious sauce), steamed cabbage, and plantains. First off I will mention the woman behind the counter was fairly rude. This, as per usual, will not affect my rating number, but should be noted for those seeking friendly service. The other male employee working was cordial but also fairly cold. That said, this food is awesome. The jerk seasoning is clearly meticulously formulated with a ton of different spices made to measure for this place. It's at times earthy, sweet, and savoury. The chicken itself is extremely well executed: falling off the bone and well-seasoned. The rice is instant rice, but very appropriate to soak up the generous saucing they apply to it. The steamed cabbage was pretty much just there like a crudité, to provide some fiber to the dish. The fried plantains were soft and sweet. All around, if you're ok with standoffish service, it's worth trying this place if you're in coatesville. read more

Came here for a quick bit around 6pm. Even though they close at 7pm, people were still going in and out with food. I wanted to try the oxtail (only served in Large) but they were out. They were also out of all the patties. I ended up ordering a Large Jerk Chicken ($12). It came with 4-5 pieces of sweet plantains and some cabbage, over some rice and beans. Rice and bean were very fluffy and soft. Much softer than other Jamaican places but still very good. Cabbage and plantains were standard. The jerk chicken was delicious! Large came with two drumsticks and a breast. The dark meat were so tender and the meat fell right off the bones. The meat also have a small kick which made it even better. I was no a fan of the breast piece. It was very dry and definitely needed to be cooked a bit longer. Was in the area for a tournament, decided to try this spot out last minute. Amazing, some of the best Jamaican food I've had. The jerk sauce is super good. If I lived closer I would def make this a regular spot. The service was good, they were nice and quick. I was about to take a hour drive to go there, but I decided to call first to ensure they had what i wanted, and as it turns out, Yelp shows them closing at 9pm, which according to the recording is wrong. The recording says they close at 7pm. The 2 star is only for the inconvenience of the time issue. It has nothing to do with the food or service. The food here is delicious. The service is okay. There is no ambiance. Truthfully, looking at it from the street, I would NEVER have been inclined to go in. However, several people encouraged me to go and try their food, which I eventually did. It took years for me to try JamRock Caribbean Cuisine, but I am glad that I took the advice of a few friends ds and tried them. It would benefit them greatly and help the appearance of the downtown Coatesville area if the owners would work on the appearance of their restaurant. Was visiting my friend in Philadelphia, we decided to take a drive out of the city and into the heart of PA. We randomly ended up in Coatesville and wanted to try some local jerk chicken. Wow. This place is excellent. Classic styrofoam trays complete with cabbage, rice, plantains, and a hearty helping of chicken! The employee who served us was exceedingly friendly and helpful, the bathroom was immaculately clean, and the entire lunch experience was nothing but positive. Delicious local restaurant - if good food is your top priority, go here. Just go. The oxtail was beyond delicious: seasoned beautifully, cooked beautifully. Jerk chicken and sauce were super flavorful. Rice was the perfect accompanying dish. And!! Ackee and saltfish was well worth the wait (it's prepared to order). Hadn't had it before and the balance of flavors was delicate and delicious. If you order this, eat it first. (They accommodated us with extra plates so we could all try everything.) Last but not least: fried plantains. I'm running out of words to rave, and they were really good. The restaurant seems to do a lot of carry out business. Not a super fancy interior; didn't miss it. Coolers of soda - familiar and Jamaican varieties - comprise the drink menu. (Tinga is a sugar-sweetened grapefruit soda: worthwhile.) Well done, JamRock. Looking forward to returning! So I came here solely based on the reviews. It's just a store front with a few tables. There was nobody in the place at 7pm but it was a Monday. I almost turned around and left. Well I'm glad I didn't do that!! I wanted to order the jerk wings and I was told going to be a half hour wait. They recommend calling ahead next time. She said it's not a popular item and offered me a few suggestions. I'm going with a jerk salad and curry chicken. The portions are ridiculously huge. I ended up eating the jerk salad and saving the curry for the next day. This is a quaint dive place, plastic silverware and everything served in to go containers whether you dine in or out. 5 Stars! A few weeks ago I went on a cruise and one of the ports was in Montego Bay. Irony would have me having more authentic Jamaican cuisine in Pennsylvania, as opposed to Jamaica itself! This place is awesome. I had the Jerk Fish with beans/rice, cabbage and plantains. The plaintains were absolutely delicious, so flavorful that I wish I had ordered an extra side. I asked Colleen, (the super friendly owner) what made that rice so delicious and she mentioned coconut milk. Yum! I also tried a veggie patty. Enjoyed that as well. ~various options for Vegetarians~ The jerk sauce that was poured over my tilipia and rice was beyond flavorful. The fish was cooked perfectly and the jerk seasoning wasn't overly spicy, perfect for me. This was a delicious meal to say the least. I paid $12 total, and made 2 meals out of it. The portion size was absurd. JamRock was super clean inside, the staff were all very welcoming and I was happy to enjoy such authentic Jamaican cuisine. Total disappointment: Incomplete order and potential choking hazard: I ordered and paid for a jerk chicken sandwich, fries and some coco bread with a pineapple ginger soda. ~$12. When I got home I found no coco bread or fries, just a drink, sandwich and a 2nd plain sandwich roll stuffed in a paper bag. Mistakes happen. I really just wanted to taste some jerk chicken so I was willing to overlook it. However, I suppose I should have specified 'boneless' jerk chicken because I pulled several large bone fragments from my mouth while eating. One chunk was about the size of standard gaming dice. My toddler son could have easily choked on it if I'd given him a bite. There may have been more pieces. After 3 large fragments of bone I lost my appetite and any trust in their establishment not to give me food poisoning as well. I threw the food out. $12 wasted. It's a shame because it was a cute little place and they seemed nice enough. It was also empty of customers during lunch time. If they don't get it together they're not going to last. Low income neighborhood location + relatively high prices for said neighborhood + niche cuisine + incorrect orders + dangerous food preparation = business space for rent. tl;dr: Got home and found my order was missing 2 items I paid for and spat out 3 large bone fragments before throwing the jerk chicken sandwich in the trash. One piece of bone fragment was large enough to be a potential choking hazard. read more
