Lunch Special of Curry Goat. DEEEELICIOUS!
    Florence C.

Flavor Town! Right by the main entrance to Aberdeen Proving Ground, this casual spot is great for lunch and dinner. I ordered Curry Goat from their lunch special menu which came with my choice of rice and peas and veggies, and plantain and it was ready right away. I was very impressed with the deep flavors of every part of my dish. From the same menu, my coworker enjoyed the Jerk Chicken with the dipping sauce that had a good kick. For any of their meat dishes, it's typical to get some bones. Then to drink, their homemade Ginger Beer was sharp and excellent! I could have sipped on this all day! A taste of paradise! NOTES/TIPS: **Parking is easy in their own lot. **Wheelchair-accessible. Gendered restrooms, single stalls.

Curry Goat, Rice & Peas, plantains

The most tender goat in all of Maryland and flavor of the curry is deep and rich. Wow! Plantains were sweet and went well with the cabbage. Homemade hot sauce was fresh and bright while packing a punch. Beef patty is good with the hot sauce. 6 drinks to choose from on their lunch special. Feels like I'm back in the Caribbean. Friendly service as well.

Good flavor from the gravy. The oxtails are tender and come off the bone. The cabbage is yummy as well.

As someone who has lived in the Caribbean (Grenada), the only thing authentic about Ray's Caribbean American Food is the Caribbean customer service. I should've known the food wouldn't be worth it when I saw the macaroni. It looked too American; ironically, it was the best thing on my plate. Typically, Caribbean macaroni is just okay, but here it was the highlight. I had the jerk chicken with two sides. Unfortunately, both the rice and peas and the chicken were dry. The jerk sauce was decent, but it couldn't save the meal. My aunt ordered the oxtail plate with cabbage, rice, and peas. She said it wasn't good, and she only ate enough to put something on her stomach before giving up and tossing the rest. Overall, I'd pass on this place. It's different from the authentic Caribbean experience you're looking for.

We went in because we had a serious craving for this cuisine but we live in the county so, I searched for this place and just went based off the stars. Generally it's in the CITY of Baltimore where you would find some authentic carribean food that is a hidden gem. So seeing THAT many stars in the county--I'm going to see what this place is about! The place is smaller than what I expected. We went for lunch and it was pretty packed in there. Not much parking when it is packed like that. We did luck up and find a good spot. My first impression when we went in was - ok-Take out. The food was very fresh. Tasty and plentiful! You get a big helping of what you ask for. We got the BBQ chicken And homemade ginger beer. Everything was good. The left something to be desired .. it seemed like the women patrons were almost overlooked by male ones. I noticed it and my friend brought it up to me as well. Not sure if it's a cultural thing or not but .. the customer service could use some help.

Half Jerk Chicken, Rice and Beans, Plantains, Saturday Double, and Beef Patties (Mild)
    Jack M.

We ordered a half Jerk Chicken, the Saturday Doubles special, and two beef patties. The prices and quality were both excellent. The chicken was juicy and tender enough. Not perfect on the bite, but very good. There was now chalky dryness to speak of. The double was insanely good. Super fluffy and chewy with a complex savoury herbal flavor inside. The beef patties had a crusty but also chewy and buttery exterior and were filled with heavily spiced finely ground beef. An excellent deal for a type of cuisine that isn't easy to find done well outside of nyc.

09-30-23: Jerk chicken and oxtails were tough, dry, and lacked flavor for 2 consecutive weeks. I'm sad!

Quarter chicken with chickpeas, cabbage, mac

Fireeee. This place is really good. I got the 1/4 chicken with chickpeas, Mac and cheese and cabbage. Also got a side of plain roti and roti with peas. Chicken 9/10, very moist Mac 10/10 Chickpeas 9/10 Cabbage 5/10, had better Roti 10/10 Wish I could've tried the oxtails, chicken curry, stew and the meat pies or Pattie's? While I was sitting there everyone kept ordering them

They are the least expensive wing option that I've come across (10 for $14) in the area, while most other places charge $2 or more per wing And they only charge an extra $1 if you order all flats: many places don't even give you that option, or charge you $2 or more to allow for it They don't charge you extra for more than one sauce like most places For those who say the price on the menu is different than the receipt: please read the sign posted by the card reader- IF U USE A CREDIT CARD they don't swallow the credit card fee...they let YOU pay for it, but also let you know this AND you have the option to pay cash and save the 3.5%. My 13.99 order tacked on .48 for credit card use - I didn't have cash so that's on me They wings are average size, so not as small as many places around. And, as a couple of other reviewers stated..some times it does seem like they haven't changed the grease often and there's a hint of "burnt". Lol apparently not enough to keep me from returning. Mainly cause it's not too bad, and it's not all the time (recall. I have had them several times!! So I think maybe 30% of the time I get the "burnt whiff and slight taste") Half the time I call ahead and my order is ready The other half I walk in, order, and never have to wait more then 20min There's a young teen at the register, so seems they're keeping it a family business I'll continue to support them: when I'm craving inexpensive quick wings...or may just go nuts and try something else on the menu some day I'd recommend it, assuming you're ok with the cons above, which are offset by the price "Get what u pay for"

First, I…read morehave to say that the food does not have the traditionally known Korean fried chicken flavors. It is Chinese fried chicken, through and through. So, if you want Korean fried chicken, you will be sorely disappointed, as I was. (I was raised on a Chinese grandmother's home cooking for 30+ years.) But, if you're looking for Chinese fried chicken, look no further, this spot hits that spot!! It's delicious, juicy, and filled with that good chicken flavor! The sauces are good and tasty, also more Chinese than Korean, and it's better than any KFC around. The servers were really kind and helpful with making choices. There were kids around (well well behaved and others not as much) which was strange but whatever. And the shop was clean, the bathrooms were much nicer than expected, and the tables were cleaned after each customer. If they had trash cans around, I would have tossed our trash before leaving to simplify the work for them. And Amanda did her best to answer my questions (especially since I did have quite a few questions.) Just to add, their fried rice cake isn't tteokbokki. They just take the rice pellets, put them on sticks, and fry them... which is a great Chinese snack but NOT a Korean snack. So, yes... a good Chinese food spot but NOT a Korean food spot.

I never planned on going here because most Caribbean food sauce in America is too salty. Well this place was empty. There was no one at the counter to take orders. The guy appeared and seemed shocked when I ordered. He then fired the stove. I stepped out for maybe 10 minutes. I came back in and he left the counter to collect my food. I already seen one person walk in and leave quickly with food before I came back in. He looked upset when I did not tip. I have consistently had bad luck with local Caribbean spots so for a lunch deal under 13 dollars; I will see first if it looks edible, smells fresh, and tastes fit to eat before I tip in the future. As soon as I opened the container (very heavy) the sauce looked too silky and dark to be a stew. It looks like motor oil. The temperature was hot. There was no taste at all to the sauce. The rice or veggies gave an old smell. I believe it was the rice because it was lumpy when you get through past the black sauce. There were some lettuce cut strips that were translucent. The chicken was tender and did not taste old/reheated a few times. I am so disappointed. I wish I would have read the reviews. I should have went to Wawa for a sandwich, they never disappoint.
