Curry Goat, Rice & Peas, plantains
    Mo P.

The most tender goat in all of Maryland and flavor of the curry is deep and rich. Wow! Plantains were sweet and went well with the cabbage. Homemade hot sauce was fresh and bright while packing a punch. Beef patty is good with the hot sauce. 6 drinks to choose from on their lunch special. Feels like I'm back in the Caribbean. Friendly service as well.

As someone who has lived in the Caribbean (Grenada), the only thing authentic about Ray's Caribbean American Food is the Caribbean customer service. I should've known the food wouldn't be worth it when I saw the macaroni. It looked too American; ironically, it was the best thing on my plate. Typically, Caribbean macaroni is just okay, but here it was the highlight. I had the jerk chicken with two sides. Unfortunately, both the rice and peas and the chicken were dry. The jerk sauce was decent, but it couldn't save the meal. My aunt ordered the oxtail plate with cabbage, rice, and peas. She said it wasn't good, and she only ate enough to put something on her stomach before giving up and tossing the rest. Overall, I'd pass on this place. It's different from the authentic Caribbean experience you're looking for.

Good flavor from the gravy. The oxtails are tender and come off the bone. The cabbage is yummy as well.

We went in because we had a serious craving for this cuisine but we live in the county so, I searched for this place and just went based off the stars. Generally it's in the CITY of Baltimore where you would find some authentic carribean food that is a hidden gem. So seeing THAT many stars in the county--I'm going to see what this place is about! The place is smaller than what I expected. We went for lunch and it was pretty packed in there. Not much parking when it is packed like that. We did luck up and find a good spot. My first impression when we went in was - ok-Take out. The food was very fresh. Tasty and plentiful! You get a big helping of what you ask for. We got the BBQ chicken And homemade ginger beer. Everything was good. The left something to be desired .. it seemed like the women patrons were almost overlooked by male ones. I noticed it and my friend brought it up to me as well. Not sure if it's a cultural thing or not but .. the customer service could use some help.

Half Jerk Chicken, Rice and Beans, Plantains, Saturday Double, and Beef Patties (Mild)
    Jack M.

We ordered a half Jerk Chicken, the Saturday Doubles special, and two beef patties. The prices and quality were both excellent. The chicken was juicy and tender enough. Not perfect on the bite, but very good. There was now chalky dryness to speak of. The double was insanely good. Super fluffy and chewy with a complex savoury herbal flavor inside. The beef patties had a crusty but also chewy and buttery exterior and were filled with heavily spiced finely ground beef. An excellent deal for a type of cuisine that isn't easy to find done well outside of nyc.

09-30-23: Jerk chicken and oxtails were tough, dry, and lacked flavor for 2 consecutive weeks. I'm sad!

Quarter chicken with chickpeas, cabbage, mac

Fireeee. This place is really good. I got the 1/4 chicken with chickpeas, Mac and cheese and cabbage. Also got a side of plain roti and roti with peas. While I was sitting there everyone kept ordering them

We started with drinks a blueberry lemon crush and a cranberry mule which I recommend adding a bit more ginger beer it wasn't fizzy enough. The crab dip was absolutely amazing pipping hot and complimented with that pita it was hard not to finish it before the entrees came out. I got the coconut shrimp with a side ceaser ( it was well dressed but seemed watered down and not thick like dressing should be) and the Mac and cheese ( 100% would not recommend had 0 flavor). The second entree the seafood platter crab cake and fried shrimp were great. We got another round of drinks the key lime crush was exactly what I thought it would be and the espresso martini was super strong. Jeremy was very respectful kept a distance which was nice and checked on us periodically. Outdoor seating have umbrellas and a nice view of the street.

You definitely get your money's worth here. Whether it's their crispy chicken tenders and fries or one of their amazing subs, everything tastes made to order and consistent every single time. I can honestly say they have never gotten our order wrong, which is rare these days. We usually do pickup and even on weekends the wait is typically around 15 minutes, which is impressive. The staff is always fast and friendly, and the whole process is smooth. When we've eaten inside, I've always loved the old school pizzeria vibes. It just feels comfortable and classic. Riverside is one of those reliable go to spots you can count on. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

We have also had several extended family gatherings with parties of more than 10 people. After my experience today, i will be looking for another restaurant for my weekly dinner. I checked the menu online because my wife and i wanted crab cakes, the 2 crab cake platter was listed in the menu for $53.99. When I called in to order my total came to almost $70. I asked why and was told that the price was $60.99. I explained that it was in the online menu for $53.99 and the only response I got was "we just changed prices and the website hasn't updated and that it is now $60.99. Naturally my response was along the lines of, "ok, but it's advertised online for $53.99". The only response I received from then on was that it's $60.99. I spoke with a manager on-site who repeated the same response. I was told that they would call the big boss and after a 10 minute hold what do you think I was told? If you guessed "it's $60.99". I was also told that the link for them, which is the 1st search result from google is not the website they use anymore and there was no way they would honor the price that they have on, not 1 but 2 online menus. At this point, I was done. I told them that they had lost a long time customer over $7, hung up, called Riverside Pub and Grill which is right around the corner and got better crab cakes. It's also worth noting that I paid roughly the same price for better food. No understanding, no flexibility, just an attitude that screamed, that's the price and if you don't want to pay then whatever. On principle I will never eat there again and I will be discussing their pricing and business practices with the BBB. I get that online pricing may take some time to update but if it doesn't update online live then that is the cost of doing business and you'll have to suck it up sometimes but to not even consider honoring a price that they have listed on 2 menus online is not the attitude a business that values its customers. Rest assured that I will be telling anyone who will listen about this terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and find another restaurant to eat at. Service: 1/5

The salsa was the first thing tipping me off that we'd stumbled upon was likely a local gem. It's not so thick that I think it's a tomato paste concoction. Tastes like real home made from scratch salsa. Not too much but a very nice kick to it. Peppery, oniony, refreshing punch of lime. The queso hit everything I wanted and wasn't just plain cheese nor was it gritty or plastic-y. Tasted exactly like I expected! Smoky peppers did a lot for flavor here. I was sad not finding my regular burrito from this kinda of establishment. A simple beef burrito smothered in a red sauce of some variety with rice and beans. I asked the server if there was a smothered burrito and he informed me that the combo deal was what I was looking for. In which I got two burritos, rice and beans. The red sauce that my two burritos came smothered in was rich, tangy, oniony and was still nicely acidic from the tomato. You can really tell they taste their food. Burrito Loco that my accomplice ate was also really good. Maybe a little more salt on the veg but that's coming from someone notorious for over salting fries at work. I love salty food, so that's just a personal taste thing. The service was amazing. It all came together when I went into the bathroom, though. It was so clean that it snapped the whole picture together of why this place is so surprisingly good. It's staff genuinely cares about their place of work. Kitchen and front of house alike, everything here was impeccable. You can tell there are people here invested in their workplace. Highly recommend stopping in or frequenting if possible. They had a fun looking drink menu, I just forgot to order my agua fresca Jamaica, so I'm sorry to say I can't report on that.

So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. All good things in moderation I guess‍.
