The next day, they called me saying they fixed the radiator, but there was an internal leaking issue that the mechanic couldn't figure out and that I should immediately go trade in the car before the engine fails. He gave me zero plausible or any technical explanation for what the origin of the issue was and added another 100 dollars to my service fee. I decided to take my car to a mechanic who is more accustomed to dealing with Subarus with the incredibly vague explanation I received from the mechanic rather than go sell or trade in the car because one person told me he can't fix it. The next day, I received an actual explanation of what the issue was, which was a cross contamination issue with the coolant and engine oil that can happen with the specific engine that Subarus are equipped with and he was able to give me an actual quote to fix the issue rather than telling me to trade in or sell the car. Furthermore, he said that changing the radiator should have only cost me a couple hundred dollars max and that the issue with the engine could have been prevented if I went to an experienced mechanic in the first place! I was overcharged by more than double the actual price of parts and service and literally told to go trade in the car after paying $880 dollars, which I had to haggle down from $900 after the price increased overnight. Please don't come here for any repairs as they are not qualified to provide proper service, yet will overcharge you without any agreement. Unfortunately, I wasn't in town to bring it right away, and had to bring it back to the shop about 2 weeks later . (Still leaking btw) they said it was the "gasKeT" and I would have to pay another $48 to get this repaired. They said I should have brought it the day after i got the oil changed. Later after all the back and forth they offered to cover the costs for labor ,but I would have to pay for the part. Which was $3. I did not expect for them to charge me at all considering i had returned literally about 2 weeks later. (And called them over the phone twice to advise what was going on" They said i was "taking advantage" and told me god was watching. They said there was no way of knowing the part was damaged or defective . In my opinion they should have checked the gasket while doing the oil change . I ended up paying $10 which I didn't feel was fair but; at least they could pay off their $3 part they replaced. Next day after the lecture and "repair" ITS LEAKING AGAIN! haaaahahah now I have to go to the dealer and figure out what they broke on my car. I'm glad I didn't pay the $48 the second time around considering I came in with a car that was perfectly fine and left with a leaking car . THANK YOU LA TIRES AND AUTO BODY SHOP !!! :) I've spent $120 total for oil, filter, labor, a "gasket" and now I have a car with a bigger problem and NO OIL . DO NOT GO HERE !

We dont want to work on your car now! (Huh?) We had the scanner codes already and showed them. There were no codes for the computer! This is a father-and-son-owned shop, and you can tell they take pride in doing things the right way. The photos I've posted show the old exhaust parts that were cut and removed, the replacement components, and the finished install underneath the vehicle. Everything was fitted cleanly and solidly--no shortcuts, no sloppy work. They replaced my muffler and repaired the damaged section from the theft in just a little over an hour, which honestly exceeded my expectations. The car sounds right, drives smoothly, and feels properly repaired--not patched together. What I appreciated most was their honesty and efficiency. They explained what needed to be done, got straight to work, and delivered exactly what they promised. In a time when catalytic converter theft is unfortunately common, it's a relief to find a shop you can trust. If you're dealing with exhaust damage or catalytic theft, I highly recommend Izzy Mufflers and Brakes. Solid workmanship, fair pricing, and genuinely good people.

I took it in to a place AAA recommended in downtown LA and explain the issue. They told me I needed a new timing chain along with a whole bunch of other stuff and quotes me $4800 for it. This was preceded with a lot of scare tactics on what will happen if I don't have the work done, which came across as very used car salesman-ish. When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Highly recommend this place for integrity, quality, efficiency and fair pricing.

Fred helped me out - he was very friendly and non-intimidating (great for a gal going to an auto shop by herself!) He explained that Tesla tires have some foam, so patching the tire for the nail he found would be $50. It was nice he took the time to explain why it was a certain cost, def appreciated. They have a really nice waiting area with seating + strong AC (it was a hot summer day in LA), I was really impressed. Paid by cash because there's a small fee for credit card. 100% recommend this spot - friendly and service was quick. I was in and out fasttt!

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. I'll update this review once I get the car in for my first visit. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

I called ahead to confirm if they could make time and we agreed on a date/time that worked. Upon arrival, the shop was jam packed with tons of cars. Feeling a bit worried that my check up would take forever, they quoted me about 1.5hrs to do the standard checks including brakes, tires, fluids, and oil change and it actually ended only taking 1 hour! Very thankful that they were able to squeeze me into their busy schedule and take care of my car efficiently with friendly service! They've won me over and I'll definitely come back again in a few months for the next service date. What's also great is there are a lot of pretty decent spots to eat and even a few nice bakeries too while you wait for your car to get serviced. Highly recommend giving them your business!

Yeah sorry was not happy with the work I had mr Jams work on my car in 2016 I took to long to write this because I don't leave bad feed backs like these but this one I had too. He told me the work is going to be expensive but I was ok but please make sure these problems don't come back and they did after few months and yes I do have A classic Chevy 1964 and I took care of it and all he did is check my electric system battery and he said it was dead and my wiring system and burned wires to the alternator replace alternator and disable the alternative. The parts and use the original alternator case to the chrome body of the alternator and reset charging system and found system operating normal at this time an pair some of the aftermarket wiring system replace wire to the electrical power supply and wired ground system to the chassis fix bracket for the stop light switch in adjusted the switch hazard materials. He wrote on the Receipt A lot of things disconnected most of the electrical system not working?? I had to pay for the job $523.09 and now I'm still stuck with the same problem to be honest with you not worth your money and time save your self with this guy people go to some one who knows how to fix simple work because I end up going to school for this since it cost so much money for me since life is very hard these times since I'm a student & did not want to give me a brake. read more

I am new to California with no friends or family so when I started having car trouble my heart sunk. Not knowing where to turn I went online and after reading scores of reviews I decided to call Jams. Jesse answered the phone and encouraged me to bring the car in for him to at least look at. I am so glad I did everything you read about this man and his shop is accurate. He has got to be the last HONEST mechanic on the planet. He took the time to explain my issue and quoted me a fair price which he didn't mark up even after he re-attached an uplugged hose, and re-mounted my radiator fan for FREE. He went through a list of recommed repairs that I could start budgeting for and had me out the door in less than 2 hours. In this economy it's nice to find people who aren't rushing to make a quick buck and still want to take the time to do a good job, and who will stand behind their work. The most honest and knowledgeable mechanic in LA. I've had my 10 yr old Jag XF Supercharged in the hands of too many amateur, dishonest mechanics to count and the same old problem kept appearing, with the same old story to go along with it. Luckily I found Jesse and the guys over at Jams. Not only did he diagnose the problem and fix it for good but was able to show me the micky-mouse work done by the previous mechanics who simply put band-aids on the problem and charged me an arm and a leg for it. Jesse really knows his stuff and he does the job honestly and quickly. I'd recommend him for anyone who, like me, is sick of bad service and dishonest mechanics. Jesse saved my car! I've saved thousands of dollars and many frustrated weeks wondering if I'd ever find someone who's word and work I'd be able to trust. I'm so happy that I finally found the right shop. I had troubles finding a good mechanics when I moved to LA 3 years ago. I actually tried a lot of places before I found this one. I have now been going there for more than 2 years, with at least 3 different cars, and never regretted it. Jams Automobile is not close to where I live but I will keep going there! Jesse is very honest, does an honest job (very rare for a mechanics!). Of course some people may charge less and will tell you what you want to hear, but where is the point if you have to go back to fix the fix two weeks after that ? Prices are good, they are what they are supposed to be, no rip-off, no cheap work that will fall apart. Honesty, and that is great! Besides, Jesse spends the time to explain everything going on. Actually very available, which is pretty amazing for a small place like that. Like everyone, I do not like spending much money to fix my car, and like many, I care a lot about my car. The owner, Jesse is one of the most honest, fair and reasonable mechanics in the industry. He has an unfathomable skill set and never fails to to render impeccable service. The rest of his workers are extremely respectful and are excellent additions to this shop. I and my family have been doing business with Jesse for years and he has never missed a beat. His prices are right where they should be and the quality of the work greatly exceeds the value of what he charges. I have seen him build entire cars from scrap and even has helped me with other mechanical needs no matter how ridiculous. Jams Auto is without doubt the best place to take your new or older vehicle for repairs and service in the West LA area. The owner makes sure that the correct diagnosis is performed before he starts swapping out parts like so many of these other hack places. They get the job done right and guarantee their work. Both me and my wife drive older vehicles and have been using Jams for maintenance and repair for the last 4 years, our yearly costs are down 50% and we have been able to cancel our AAA membership. Jessie and his team are outstanding! They are incredibly professional, give amazing customer service and can count that whatever problem your car has, it will get fixed. My family has been using Jams Automobile for about 15 years now. I have been going to Jessie with my Toyota Celica for years and he has always been honest and upfront about the repairs and what it will cost and even if it really needs to be done in the first place. I had an issue with rear brake light on the driver side. It was intermittently going on and off and the bulb was good. Turned out the contact to the bulb was faulty so instead of having to replace the entire unit that houses all the back lights he was able to get just the contact for that bulb and replace it at a fraction of the cost of replacing the unit itself. read more

I've had 15+ years going to Jessie's and have never had a complaint. I can always count on him and his team to find the issue and repair what seems impossible to fix. I had my Chevy Lumina 1997 that needed engine repair about 3 year ago and it's still running like new. His also serviced my Honda Civic 1991 multiple times, he always checks all my vehicle fluids and uses high quality oils and auto parts, no cheap flimsy parts. Whole family has been going to Jams for years. There are 4 in my family that are driving and we only go to him for repairs and oil changes. Jesse makes sure that all our cars are running great. This is the best automobile repair shop I have ever been to and one of the most honest. I recently had my car repaired there-brakes, new battery and oil change. The repairs were completed in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. I have all the confidence in the work that Jesse and his crew does. They always go above and beyond. I called a tire shop, and they recommended Wrench Automotive. I'm glad they did. The owner is a super nice, no-nonsense kind of guy. The alignment for my car was $110, and a $10 discount for cash. Keep in mind, my car is Front Wheel Drive, so if you have 4WD or All Wheel Drive, it might be more. Anyway, they aligned all four wheels using their computerized system. It took less than half an hour. The mechanic was great. I was very pleased. The shop is really clean and organized. They do all kinds of repairs. Next time my car needs some work, I'm taking it there.

This place is outstanding!…read more It looks like a little hole in the wall place, but the mechanics here couldn't have been nicer, and if you ask me, they don't charge enough. My car was overheating badly and leaking coolant. I took it here simply because they were the closest place I found on my smartphone. Oscar immediately looked at it for me, found the leak, showed it to me, told me he could fix it that day. 2 hours later it was done. That also included a test drive to make there were no other leaks and to verify the block hadn't cracked or no gaskets were leaking because of the overheating. They even checked the oil and put in a can of oil. Total cost? $90. Simply outstanding! I actually paid them $100 and told them to keep the change. The first time I've ever tipped an Auto Mechanic! Thank you Oscar and the other fellow whose name I forgot.

A year ago they did an illegal modification on my truck for my ex and are now denying doing it when I am trying to get it put back to stock condition. His fee to diagnose was very reasonable and he even deducted it from the cost of the repair. These guys did a great job, highly recommended them. They repaired my A/C quickly, explained everything in detail, and even showed me the defective part. I highly recommend this family owned business.

I have a lot of mechanical experience but since I live in an apartment it's hard for me to do my own work but I stay on top of the upkeep of my car and I knew why I was having issues that day... When I went in they quoted me problems I didn't have a different solution for my overheating problem... I just couldn't believe that they were trying to gauge me and they probably did this because I am a woman and thought I wouldn't know. So even after I paid the diagnostic fee I took I decided to take my vehicle back and tow it to a different shop As I waited for the tow man the mechanic started going off about I didn't know what I was talking about and if I wasn't getting the work done get my vehicle off his property so that I can wait on the streets for the tow man and walked away and said that I'm like the rest of them cheap A** N****. I couldn't believe what came out of his mouth cause I guess from another post they are Armenian I just couldn't believe the whole situation. I am offended as a black woman that all in one visit he offended my sex and race... PLEASE ALL THAT READ THIS DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS... they are scammers, racist! And bigots!

A few weeks ago my car began to stall. The engine would die, and all my lights on the dashboard…read morewould light up. Even the RPM meters hand would fall all the way to zero and could not be able to shift gears with the automatic transmission.To restart my engine I had to be able to pull over, put the car in park, and restart the engine after it had difficulty turning over. Then after finally being able to make it to work or home I would hear a thumping kind of sound coming from the glove compartment area after shutting off the engine. I had just replaced the oil in the car as well as got a brand new working battery, it was tested before I left another shop. So I look up local mechanics near me and found this shop, now named GEV's Auto Repair. After trying to call there number multiple times listed on google maps I thought they were either busy or the phone didn't work. At first I thought no big deal, I'll just hope I can drive over that short distance and see if I could be able to be seen even without an appointment. Upon getting there I saw there were two guys working on two different engines, a woman sitting on a couch in the garage, and another man talking to the woman. After I got the attention of one of the men working on an engine the man talking to the woman came over and asked what I needed help with. I told an employee the story I just mentioned above and first thing he did was give this glare like "for real? You must be kidding me". At first I thought it was a language barrier, but then he told me he would look at it and asked if I needed to have it back immediately. I told him 5 times to keep it as long as he needed as it was my day off, I didn't live far away, and I wanted to make sure it was properly looked at to make sure that the car was safe to drive again. So he told me to leave the keys and to come back in two hours and I would be able to test drive it to see if it worked. 2 hours go by and I come back to the shop. Getting there I then saw three guys sitting around the couch. Two guys sitting on the couch and one man working on an engine, while my car had its hood up and moved closer to the shop. The man who talked to me earlier that day told me to drive it and see how it worked. I told him it usually stalled after 15-30 minutes after driving, to which he assured me that was fine. So I drove for that amount of time, there was no stalling so naturally I thought it was fixed. But after getting back and shutting off the engine I heard that thumping noise again. The man who helped me told me he reprogrammed the computer in the car because sometimes changing the battery can make the electronics go haywire sometimes. I pointed out that the glove compartment area still made the thumping noise after shutting off the engine. He then put his head close to the area with the hood still closed and said it might've been the pumps in the area and that it should still be fine. So then I asked what the cost would be, to which he replied that it would just be $40. So as I was bringing out my wallet and card he told me that they don't do cards, but asked if I had zelle, to which I replied "I do". I thought it was kinda strange that a auto shop would do such a thing but I figured that it was more then likely there way of upgrading or something. I then gave him $40 and left thinking all was well. Very next day I was on my way to San Pedro to go on a trip with some friends and halfway there, on the freeway, in the middle of traffic, my engine stalled again just like it did before. Lights, RPM gauge, everything. After getting home I looked up another mechanic who was a little further away but still close. I made an appointment online and brought it in next day. At this point I'm scared to drive this vehicle and it stalled again on the way over to him. Once I walk in and tell him the situation, he asked for the keys, asked where I was parked and told me he will contact me about the situation and the cost. So I Uberd to work, mid shift I get a text saying it was a camshaft to crankshaft correlation problem and that it would be a $700 repair. Shortening this story after he proceeded, I paid and drove it to work the next day, not a problem sense. Point being, this place did not take the actual time to look at my car, they just jumped to conclusions and thought it would be a quick way to make a buck after "essentially " trying to fix a serious problem with duck tape - sort of speak. I wanted to give this place a chance like anyone would want a chance to prove themselves but they ended up not trying to do there absolute best. I really hope it's not a racial thing seeing as I am a half black individual and was not of there culture or race. If that is the case I find it very sad how they would prioritize other people instead of providing quality service to every individual in need. Especially when a car is in need of serious attention.

The nicest guy ever happened to walk by after getting lunch for him self and asked me what was going on. He told me to follow him to his shop up the street in the alley.
