DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE, MY DOG IS NOW DEAF!…read more I'm writing this review to share my concerns and hopefully help other pet owners make informed decisions regarding Sage Vet. My dog had an ear infection, the vet (Dr. Matute) gave medication during the appointment and sent us home with the meds without telling us know the potential side effects. That night, my dog was barking unusually loud and ignoring commands. The next day, he was still in distress, barking excessively and his ear were not perking up when we spoke to him. I realized he was deaf and could not hear at all. I stopped his medication immediately. He had no hearing issues prior to this and this happened suddenly all within one day. I called the vet, and they told me to stop the medication and to let him shake his head to dispel the medication - which was the exact opposite instruction they had previously given since it would worsen the ear hematoma he had. They let me know that time would only tell if his hearing would come back and sometimes can be permanent. This sent me into panic mode, thinking my healthy 12-year-old senior dog would now be completely deaf for the rest of his life. I felt defeated, I was the only one advocating for my pet's health, an innocent soul who cannot advocate for himself. I went to the follow-up appointment reluctantly. The vet swabbed his ear and then stated she wanted to try a new medication, which I argued I did not want to do given the fact that he is still cannot hear. Once she checked his ear sample under the microscope, she stated that his ear infection was 90% better. Why offer additional medication without checking first? I dropped off a urine sample during this appointment which later they reported he may have kidney stones and then asked for a retest so I could make the necessary changes for him. I later received an email from the manager (Logan) saying because did not trust them, I would be dismissed as an active patient for both of my dogs, although my dog is currently sick - ear infection and hematoma, possibly kidney stones as well. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Sage Vet. I have had my dogs for nearly 12 years, we have been to plenty of vets, and this is the most unprofessional office I have ever been to. I felt that the level of care and attention my pet received is unacceptable. I would not recommend this clinic to other pet owners and will be seeking a new veterinarian for my pet's issues. I believe pets deserve compassionate and thorough care, and unfortunately, that was not what I experienced here - THIS IS OUTRIGHT NEGLIGENCE.

Their vets and other personnel have always treated my dogs and cats with the utmost care. Currently, my senior lab mix China has been doing well despite having developed liver cancer. Dr. Mirei Sakane, VMD has been instrumental in guiding me with China's palliative care that I opted for. China is doing very well and we're keeping the cancer at bay. Dr. Sakane has also treated China for the sudden onset of seizures and canine cognitive disorder which have both ended thanks to a cocktail of meds that Dr. Sakane is monitoring for her. The front desk employees (Grace, Christina and others) have all been very helpful and professional as have the skilled techs (Jennifer, Max and others). I can highly recommend this practice and trust them with my three doggies and my cat.

This was my first visit here as I helped her out, so did I have the same feelings about this place after she vetted it out!? PURCHASE Bordetella Booster Shot ($76.00): More commonly known as the medicine to prevent "kennel cough", it was time for Rasputin's 6-month injection. Although I couldn't recall how much we paid for this shot/booster after we first got him, the price seemed affordable and fair. And, I didn't notice any side effects after he received the booster - yay! SERVICE The appointment was easily made over the phone. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a lovely female receptionist, and minutes later a male vet appeared and walked Rasputin to the back. Before we knew it, both male vet and Rasputin were back, they provided Raspy with a treat, a quick payment was made, and off we went. Thanks for taking care of our "little black beast"! I was looking for a home base veterinarian for my animals. I simply asked if at the end of the visit he could take a quick look at a picture of the cats eye because I was concerned it may be going blind. Instead of saying sure we can take a look at the end of the visit and then maybe further schedule something so I can better assist ; he completely dismisses me and my concern for this helpless innocent cat who hasn't had a home or been cared for in god knows how long. This apathetic, cold ,and dismissive so called veterinary wouldn't even look me in the eyes or face me. He simply did not care. His name is Dr. Ken Heilpern. I will remove the Dr. from the remainder of this review because he does not deserve to be acknowledged with such high regard and respect. Ken Heilpern was cold, dismissive, heartless and threw a hissy fit because I asked a question and it didn't financially benefit him to answer this question. Little did he know that if he had showed remorse, concern, or just a little care that I would have brought all 3 of my animals here and paid what ever necessary. Nonetheless, Ken Heilpern was huffing and puffing, very short with his words saying "pssst well that's something else's uhhhh ummm sorry I can't, that's something else." The level of unethical and unprincipled service is unmatched here. This all happened after he gave my kitten a general check up and said the kitten looked great. So as we were going to follow through with the vaccination we decided that he was so money focused, unwelcoming, unhelpful, unpleasant, and impatient that we did not feel comfortable or safe enough to follow through with the vaccines for my kitten. I simply would rather have someone warm and caring; whom I trust and whom genuinely cares for animals and people. I would feel more comfortable with someone who cares to register vaccinations for my animals then a money hungry, cold, apathetic, indifferent, emotionless and unwelcoming imposter handle my innocent animals. Furthermore, when I told Ken Heilpern that we would hold off on the vaccines because we just didn't feel comfortable...he then hastily and aggressively grabbed his things and said "ok" In a very contemptuous cold manner and fled the room instantaneously. I have never in my life been so displeased and disappointed. I'm posting this review everywhere so that Ken Heilpern can hopefully understand it's not ok to treat animals and people this way. Doctors in his position should wake up eager and willing to help; with a heart full of compassion, patience and respect for little innocent living animals because after all we are just asking for the greater good and well being of a beautiful innocent animal. Perhaps you choose the wrong career Ken Heilpern. Consequently, I do not recommend coming here. It's disappointing and unfair for the others whom work here who may take more pride in their work. Other employees whom show up to help guide and protect. It's unfair to those individuals that Ken Heilpern gives this facility a bad rep and shows up to the work place with this kind of inhumane attitude and negative energy. I'm sure this isn't the first complaint he has had against him. So hopefully this serves as a wake up call and sign to who ever is in charge. Diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries or dentals all require medical equipment and medications that they have to purchase and therefore you have to pay for. There's no pet insurance that's like human insurance, so the prices are much different. You have to be willing to pay for good care. As a client it's unrealistic and literally unlawful to prescribe a medication to a pet (yes, even "one they've been on forever") without seeing the pet ONCE A YEAR at least for re-examination. Your dog has chronic ear infections? Then yes, obviously you can't just keep refilling without an exam. Wouldn't you like to know if the issue is resolving, evolving, or worsening? Stop dragging veterinary clinics because you don't know how the industry works. So before you take some of these reviews which are only OPINION, do some research. Yelp allows 100% opinion driven reviews, and they don't fact check. You could be harming your own pet and someone else's business by listening to vitriol on the internet.

I made the unfortunate mistake in seeing Dr. Yasson two years ago…read more Initially, she was able to help with diarrhea that our cat was having due to antibiotics when she recommended slippery elm which cleared it up quickly. After that though I wish I'd known to find someone else. At the time my cat was having a lot of issues with IBD and constipation. We had tried a number of diets and kept having to switch things up because nothing was helping. By the time we started seeing Dr. Yasson we had her on novel protein freeze dried food, which helped her stop vomiting, but the new problem was constipation. We kept having to up the amount of pumpkin purée in her food to try and keep her regular that we were giving her a full tablespoon each meal. I started seeing Dr. Yasson because she advocated for feeding raw and tried three different times to get her help in switching over to raw. She told me initially how to transition by doing half ground turkey cooked with half ground raw but nothing more. I didn't know what to put with it to make it complete with the right amount of nutrition nor how quickly to transition her to being completely raw. I brought it up again and she told me to hold off until we were able to get her teeth cleaned. Fast forward a few months and I made another appointment with Dr. Yasson specifically to get our cat switched over to raw. When that time came and I brought it up her words were, "Let's not fix what isn't broken." How could she not realize how much she needed to be taken off of the freeze dried food? She was having terrible constipation issues. A few months later we had to run her in to the ER to get her unstuck and that's when I knew I needed to find someone else. Unfortunately the damage was done. I found out she was in stage 2 renal disease. The last year and a half has been a nightmare due to her kidney disease and it has been extremely costly. I regret with every fiber of my being that I didn't go to someone else sooner as this window of time was crucial to stave off kidney disease because the freeze dried diet was way too hard on her kidneys. I do not feel that she listened to the severity of her symptoms nor that she cared. I blame both her and myself for not having sought out someone else as soon as it was clear she wasn't going to assist with what our girl needed.
