This couple was incredibly nice to me when I walked in. I had a custom sequin vest that I wanted to line with another fabric and a hood added, and they did an amazing job. I went to 3 different tailors before I landed at this shop. The first tailor wouldn't do it. The second tailor quoted me $200 (I don't think he wanted to do it). The third tailor quoted me $95. This shop only charged me $60 and it was ready to be picked up on the date that they committed to. I'm not sure why there are such bad reviews on here but I had a great experience with this shop, especially since so many other tailors had turned me down or were charging ridiculous prices. read more

Janey rules. Seriously, I will not bring my clothes anywhere else. No chance. Janey has altered 2 bridesmaid dresses for me ( ones that had many layers and needed a lot of work) and I have never paid more than $50 for them. Of course, non-specialty items are cheaper- but man, if you have been in a wedding before, you know those hideous dress alterations can be almost 1/2 the price of the dress!!! What a terrible place! From the moment I walked in, I knew I should have turned around and gone back to Unique and waited in line. They replaced the zipper for $20 and then I need the dress hemmed, as well. I specifically asked them NOT to hem the lining. I picked it up 3 days later and thy said I was 1 1/2 hours early. I then came back (seriously pressed for time t this point). They said my total was $59!!! I asked why a hem cost so much and they said they had to do the lining. I told them I specifically said to not hem the lining and they told me they had too, which meant my dress was now too short. At the same time I was there, the man was yelling at another customer about his issue, when I asked why they didn't follow my directions they just told me to sign the receipt. I was so angry I told them I was never coming back, and he sad to me, "fine". What is wrong with these people that they treat their customers this way. Do not take your clothes there! Terrible place, terrible service, terrible human beings. My wife had some curtains hemmed for our nursery and they were done wrong. One was longer than the other. My pregnant wife of 9 months went back to have them redone correctly and she was verbally assaulted and insulted by the woman tailor in back. She said that only one part was longer and repeatedly took the curtains and threw them on the ground in front of my wife. Nice. Those are for our nursery. Just what we wanted is for them to be thrown on the ground. The point here is do the work right and if not, own up to it and fix it rather than argue and abuse your customers. Amongst the worst things she said to my 9 month pregnant wife was that she would be a bad mother. I'm not sure how anyone thinks that is ok. They are lucky I wasn't with her. People like this don't deserve to be in business anywhere. read more

I went to her for cropping a shirt and specifically asked if the material would cause any troubles. She said no and happily took 30 dollars to crop a shirt.I showed her the way I wanted the shirt to end up laying and said she could definitely do it. When I was dissatisfied with the product because of poor tailoring she said she already altered it and the material makes it so that she can't tailor it the way I want. Instead of telling me upfront, she made me pay her and then produced an unsatisfactory product. DO NOT GO HERE. Customer service is awful even for returning customers. I recommend The Tailor Shop Dallas which is where I am taking all my clothes on from now on. She also started screaming at me at the end and said insulting phrases. I decided to try a new alterations place and was so disappointed by Janey Tailor. I took a shirt to get a few embellishments re-sewn with a matching thread. (Original thread was an orange/peach color) When I picked up my shirt she has used a lavender thread to sew which clearly didn't match. She proceeded to argue with me for a few minutes before turning to another customer to ask their opinion. The other customer reiterated that the two colors were not the same. I asked for a refund and she said that I needed to go to Joann's to purchase a matching thread and then come back. Will not ever return to this tailor again! One of the worst customer service experiences I've had and the actually sewing job was sloppy on top of it! read more

One of the side effects of working out is that you have to get your clothes altered. I always take a huge stack of clothes to Jenny tailor. It isn't too expensive and they are always patient when I bring in 10 items to be resized or hemmed all at once. She also hems jeans and leaves the original hem at the bottom. I had been bringing my clothing here to be tailored for a few months, at the suggestion of a friend when I expressed exasperation with Unique tailor's lines. So, I had received good and prompt service here, for slightly higher prices and more difficult parking situation, but oh well. I recently had a terrible experience with Janey, after she chastised me for a previous item that i had asked her to revise because the blazer looked WHACK, i am absolutrly never going back. She and her husband treated me like dandruff after all the work I have payed for from them. Many better options. They lost a loyal customer in me for one garmet that she wouldnt even try to do for me when i asked to see if she could do it quick for a wedding trip emergency situation. Janey always has impeccable work, the best in Dallas! She is also extremely quick! Whether you're altering pants, a boyfriend jacket, or a fitted skirt, she has an eye for fit and years of experience that is hard to come by. I've had my clothes altered by other tailors before, and they do not come even close to the level of skill and detail that I've seen with my alterations here. I have taken my clothes there to be altered twice and while they did an ok job they were very rude both times. I felt like I had to be overly nice so they wouldn't mess up my clothes. There are multiple tailors I have been to that are not even 5 minutes away from this place. You'd think with more competition they would at least try and act friendly. Don't waste your money! They charged me $10 to fix a hole smaller than a pencil eraser in a knit dress. The quality was ok, but then when I paid with a credit card they added an extra dollar to my tab as a "service fee!" This is ILLEGAL in Texas, and I will be reporting them to the Attorney General for prosecution. read more

This is my first review ever on Yelp but felt I needed to speak out in support of Janey and her service. I have spent approximately $1,000 at Janey's since 2012 when I lost 15lbs. Her pricing and workmanship from pants, shirts to suits was fantastic. Was everything perfect the first time, of course not, I had my entire wardrobe altered. I recently lost addition weight and needed to have several pair of pants altered. After reading several Yelp reviews I was a bit wary of going back to her but I took a chance. Her cost and turn time were amazing, days instead of a week or more on the basics. Upon close inspection of the pants I had hemmed i can't even see the where it was sewn. I compared it to the recent suits I bought at Nordstrom and the quality was as good if not better than their in house tailor. read more

I've been coming here for 2 years probably spending about 75/mo on average, and unfortunately, this place has never acknowledged or rewarded me for being a loyal customer. If anything , they have gotten increasingly greedy, charging me for nearly every stitch. The husband is extremely abrasive and difficult to deal with. The quality of their work is average. I've gotten pants hemmed here before and she does a decent job but I learned the hard way when she basically ruined two suit jackets I had taken it to get altered. NOT GOOD!! WACK! This may be the best in Dallas if your standards are not that high. I used yelp & found this hole in the wall since I was visiting from Los Angeles, CA. The interior inside was so 70's ish nothing was up to date in there so I felt like will they be able to do the job or are they stuck in a time zone. Moving forward pickup date was a wk I had happen to be in the area a day before my actual pickup date. I showed the man the counter my ticket he said this is for tomorrow I explained I'm aware. I just could not understand here it is a day before @ 2pm and you have not even started none of my 3 items. I guess the man was upset since I came early he told me this is what is says and bye come back tomorrow and walked away to the back room. HE HAD NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS, VERY RUDE, AND DIDN'T TRY TO ACCOMMODATE ME. On the ticket Jennifer had wrote a day before by 6pm I told him so what does that mean he over looked it and went back to the date on the ticket. I had explained that I lived far from the locations and I could not come back until 2 weeks. That's when Jennifer T finally stepped in from the back where she was sowing. She stated I can fixed this give me a few minutes sit and wait and don't talk something to that effect. I'm a 40 yrs old woman but don't look it , does not give her the right to talk to people any kind of way. It obvious these people had no home training on manners or they're not use to people challenging they're work. I still kept my composure. 1 hr later the items were ready a shirt, dress, and a pair of pants. The shirt I needed a couple of stitches I noticed that was not fully completed I just keep my mouth shut. The dress she got me lol pretended to fix it by using safety pins which was hidden underneath the ruffle. The jeans still was not fixed properly altered around the waist she so I waited again so finally she brought them to me the hem was all crocked at this point I knew this was a bad idea yelp on this business was not a good idea not to bring quality/expensive clothes. I paid $ to the man I told him that his customer service skills are not the best that Jennifer went beyond to try to accommodate me. In my head I was not serious. Then all of a sudden Jennifer T comes from the back gets in my face and says what you say. Lady u only didn't get a good whopping cause I couldn't afford to catch a case right now due to you calling for help. I tried to explained to her that he was not wiling to help me and you were and I thank you then she walks again and speaks her language btw mines is English. I explained to her compliments you say thank you she rolled her eyes I asked for the the owner name she said you don't need to know. You come in, you pay your money, take your clothes and you leave. I tried to look in the box on the counter to see if I could find the owners business card she yelled from the back no get your clothes get out and don't take a card or come back. WTF lady xanax! You keep reiterating you been in business 30 years that means nothing if you don't know what your doing. How's your clientele? How are you staying in business? First and foremost I don't plan on coming back I like quality service and I will not settle for less especially when I'm spending my money. Maybe you can get more customers by being customer friendly, upgrading your skills, and fixing up that establishment. I have been a somewhat faithful customer despite the occasional flaws in their workmanship but after how I was treated today I have nothing good to say about the woman who owns this place, the infmaous Janey! She sliced the bottom of my $90 linen pants from Anthropology off which were designted to roll up and button. I was horrified. In shock I told her it was a huge mistake, that they were expensive pants, and she didn't even let me get a 3rd sentence out before she went psycho telling me I was just trying not to pay, accusing me of stealing, telling me she would fix them but not letting me talk long enough to see how. She then ignored me and told me to take my clothes and leave as she sat back behind her sewing machine. I stood there with my damaged pants telling her we had to fix this and then she threw herself out from behind her machine and told me to "go to church". That's when I lost it. I told her that we don't do this in America and that Texan's don't put up with this and to go back to China!!! It was out and out war. The workmanship on both pairs of pants wasn't good. I told her my clothes are expensive and to be careful and she yelled "I no want to hear expensive, cheap, I no want to hear about your clothes and how much they cost!!!" She is an unstable, terribly unprofessional person and if she isn't careful will find herself closing up shop if she keeps this up. read more

I go to Janey Tailor every time I need to get my pants hemmed, shirts tapered, and suits tailored to fit. When it comes to my suits, I don't trust anyone else except for Jennifer. I'm very particular about how my suits fit on me. I have an athletic build, so Jennifer has the best techniques to adjust the shoulders and take it in a bit around my torso so that my suit isn't baggy or loose looking. Also, she does wonders on my shirts. I'm somewhat muscular, so it's hard to find fitted shirts that fit me perfectly so I tend to buy modern fit shirts and have Jennifer make it fit to my build. My arms aren't big, so some of the dress shirts she alters for me need to have the sleeves narrowed. When she cuts it and sews it back together it's very neat looking and it doesn't look like it was cut, which is perfect when you roll up the sleeves. Sometimes when the shirts are too long at the bottom, she will cut the bottom of the shirts, so that the shirt can be worn tucked in or untucked when I'm out with my buddies. As far for pricing, I think she is fair for the area, but there's no price you can pay for the service and workmanship that you get. She usually gets it right the first time, but if she needs to adjust anything she will do it for free. read more

I've been using this tailor for the last 2 years- just because Unique tailor a block away was just too crazy. I expect a lot of folks have moved over here, just out of convience. Bottom line is though, their work is very very average. They are expensive and their work is poor, and they add on fees if you use your debit or credit card without telling you before hand. Communication is not so good either- on one occasion they told me they would patch my husbands jacket (at a huge cost of $40)- i was expecting patches, but instead they poorly sewed the jacket arms. When I expressed my disappointment, they just looked and stared at me and didn't offer a reduction/ apology etc. They made cushions for me another time, again poor job. Another time, they altered my dress, but had to fix it a few times before it was ready for pick up. I've just continued to go here out of habit, but i'm over it now and will not bother any more. If there was an option to give no stars I would have selected it so that I can give an accurate assessment of my experience with Janey Tailor. I took 2 pants and 3 dresses there to get hemmed and they charged me $97. I thought it was ridiculous because the items didn't cost more than $30 each, but I didn't want to make a big deal about it so I agreed and left my clothes there. I figured that if they did a good job it would be fine. I picked up my stuff about a week later and went to put on one of the dresses the following morning. I noticed that there were burn marks from ironing all over it. I checked the other 2 dresses and it was the same. I returned to the store to let them know. The gentleman I spoke to was really nice, but didn't seem to know what to do so he involved a woman (who I will assume is the famous Janey) to help. From the get go she was very unprofessional. She basically called me a liar and said that I must have done it because they don't iron there. I explained to her several times that all the items were brand new and that I'd never worn them...2 of the dresses still had tags on them! I told her I know they iron because I've requested flat fronts on my husband's pants before. She then changed her story and dragged me to the back of the store to show me that her iron doesn't have the diamond marks that my dresses had on them. I quickly showed her the metal grid on the ironing board itself and said, "That's what causes it." I then told the gentleman that if they weren't going to do anything about it then just tell me so I can move on and not have to deal with her yelling at me anymore. He asked what I would like and I told him I wanted to be reimbursed for at least 1/2 the cost of the dresses so I can get new ones. This really sent Janey into a frenzy. She literally got into my face and told me that there was, "No way would they pay me. If the hem was too long or too short they would fix it." Obviously this was not going to be a suitable resolution for me since the dresses were ruined. I turned to the gentleman and said, "I really don't want to talk with her any more, you asked what I wanted and I told you. If you can't do it then that's fine." Janey then got in between us and said, " You have to talk to me not to him." I felt at this point the conversation had been exhausted and I really didn't have the energy to go back and forth with them any more...did I mention I'm 18 weeks pregnant. I conceded and told them that I thought their professionalism was ridiculous and I would never be back. I'm sure they really cared. read more
