Young's Tailor is hands down the worst tailoring experience I've ever had. I dropped off two pairs of jeans -- one being rhinestone jeans -- and was told they would be ready the following Wednesday. When I came back the next Thursday to drop off a suit that I urgently needed for an event the very next day, I found out only ONE pair of jeans had been touched (the simple button repair). The rhinestone jeans were not done at all. Despite this, I was assured multiple times that my suit would absolutely be ready by 1 PM the next day. I was very clear about the deadline and asked repeatedly if this was guaranteed. I dropped the suit off around 2 PM and was explicitly told it would be done on time. Then, at 8:30 PM that same night, I received a call saying: 1. The alterations would now cost almost $500 -- after originally being quoted a fraction of that 2. The suit would NOT be ready on time By that point, every other tailor was closed, and since they don't open until 10 AM, I was left with no realistic chance to get the suit altered before my event. The result? I couldn't wear the suit at all. On top of the incompetence, they were unapologetic and rude. The guy working the front clearly has no idea what he's doing and gave me false assurances from the start. This felt like a bait-and-switch with pricing and timelines, and it completely ruined an important event for me. Unacceptable service, dishonest communication, and zero accountability. I had 3 shirts taken in at the trunk only. They already fit great at the shoulders/arms. Simple enough. He placed pins only on each side of my trunk - none in the arms/shoulder area. When I picked them up, he had taken them in in the arms and shoulders too, and WAY too much. He tried to fix them, but they do not fit now. He refunded my tailoring fee, but he refused to refund the cost of my now ruined shirts. Beware. read more

Everytime except this one I have been satisfied with Yong's service. He charged me $97.43 to shorten the sleeves on my blazer. Frankly, this was too much. And because he chose to shorten it by moving the entire sleeve instead of simply altering it at the wrist, the sleeve became too tight for my arms. $97.43...and I still could not wear my blazer. Mr. Yong is the most unassuming but amazing tailor. I'm on the short side, and I have disproportionately thicker legs for my height. So, I primarily need a tailor to get pants hemmed and tapered. I tried at least 4-5 other local tailors several times, including the wildly popular one on Mockingbird. However, I have stuck with Mr. Yong exclusively for the last few years because he's so much better. On top of my usual pants stuff, I once bought a very thick peacoat shortly before a winter trip to Montreal. The sleeves were a tad long for my short arms. I wasn't even sure something so thick and multilayered like the sleeves and cuffs could really be tailored, let alone with only two days before leaving. I took it to Mr. Yong to see. He didn't bat an eye, and he shortened the coat sleeves absolutely perfectly on short notice--he turned around my work in about a day and a half without question. -His workmanship is top notch. -He will never ruin anything with over aggressive tailoring. -He is fast! -I honestly think his prices are way below what they should be. -He is the freakin' sweetest man. I came in Friday evening to get my pants tailored for an event on Sunday. I let Mr. Yong know I needed them by today, Saturday, and he said ok. Saturday comes and I've had a lot of errands, time passed me and I didn't realize this location closes early on Saturdays. I called anyways, 30 mins after the closing time and Mrs. Yong answers. She let me know that they have two locations, and that if I can make it at a certain time I'll be able to pick up my pants. Mr. Yong brought my pants to the other location, Sun's Tailor in North Dallas, and I was able to get my pants. I'm very thankful they accommodated me. Once upon a time long, long ago I purchased a black suit for the purpose of interviewing. I loved the suit pants so, SO much that I devoted myself to dry cleaning them regualrly so that I can wear them, yet keep them matching the jacket in case I should need to wear it. Calling these my favorite pants is an understatement. They fit like gloves with minimal stretch so that they don't lose thier shape during the day and comfortable. Well, I lost 30 pounds and they no longer fit. Unwilling to toss them they sat in my closet for a few months until I thought of having them tailored. A couple of coworkers recommended this place and I am so glad that I had them tailored. They fit amazingly again. You go in and put your item on and they pin it while you're wearing it. I think the pickup times on clothes vary based on when you need it but I wasn't in a huge rush (because I'm not Russian) so I picked six days out. I had them taken in all around and the whole job cost $26. I say more than worth it but honestly not sure what tailoring usually costs. Service is friendly and speedy and will be keeping them in mind for future tailoring needs. read more

I have been coming here for years and have mostly been pleased with the quality of the alterations. However, there have been a couple times when button down shirts were taken in far more than had been pinned during the fitting. Even so, I continued to come back, because, while the shirts were a bit snug, they were wearable, and this location is very convenient for me. Recently, I took a new shirt to be altered, and it was taken in so much that the buttons pulled and separated while I just stood with my arms at my side. The shirt ($90 and never worn) is ruined. I asked Mr. Yong to compensate me for the cost of the shirt and he refused. He then said that it was altered the way I wanted it. I told him this was obviously not the case because I would never let him pin it this tightly. After some haggling, he finally agreed to refund the $17.32 I'd paid for the alteration. Given the inconsistent quality and refusal to compensate me for a ruined shirt, I will not be returning. read more

I asked yong to make a custom shirt and expected it to be in the ball park of 100-200 max. I had one the exact one made for $80 elsewhere for reference. It was a week late (he lost it) and when I came to pay for it the following week he charged me $378. Crazy up-charge especially for being a week late. It's fairly hard to express this to him because his English is not the best but I felt ripped off. He did not do anything about it he just said sorry that's the price. Unfortunately I must give this bad review although Mr. Yong seems nice he is not a professional at what he does to have his own business. On one occasion I took a dress that needed the straps shortened. After wearing it twice one of the straps became unsewn. Had to return to have it resewn. A few days ago I took another dress to be shortened and to shorten the straps. I got home and noticed one of the straps had been sewn on wrong so I had to go back for him to correct his mistake. When I went to pick up the dress Mr. Yong said I still owed him for fixing the strap. He said he had previously only shortened the length of the dress. I said, "No, you fixed the straps too and you left one of the straps wrong". He didn't even remember his own work. I will not be going back to him. There are plenty of other options. read more

Lee with Yong's Tailor is the best dressed Tailor I've ever seen! Being right across the street from me, I thought I would patronize a local business and take previous positive reviews of this place into action. Once I entered, the small and very tidy tailor shop, I was instantly greeted by Lee who was more than helpful. But what really struck me was how patient he was. I even had a hasty request to have my clothes altered within a day and he didn't even hesitate to accept the challenge. The clothes were altered in a way I didn't expect, but that's not to say it wasn't done correctly - especially with the quick turn around. Instead of cutting the remaining fabric and re-hemming, he just folded it up nicely and sewed the hem. The price was fair and definitely not more what I anticipated. I truly think you have to try very hard to be this bad. I took 8 items to get hemmed and the cost was $175 (all skinny jeans and one leather jacket). As another reviewer recommended, I asked for the prices upfront. He quoted $7 to shorten the length of pants, $13 if you want him keep the original hem, $19 if you want pants shortened and tapered in(I have skinny ankles and calves so I need this done). It was about $20 to shorten the sleeves on the jacket. The owner is a really cute, quiet, older man who doesn't really speak English. I would explain to him what I wanted done to each item and he wouldn't really respond with any words except "yah." I really didn't think much of it since the store window said he had 25 years of experience. I figured he was annoyed I was instructing "an expert" how to save a seam, blah blah blah, etc. He suggested I wait a week to pick up the clothes. I came in to get the stuff and was shocked that someone who boasts of having over 25 years experience would let clothing leave his shop like this. Uneven sewing, one leg shorter than another, mismatched seams, etc. Really poor workmanship and sloppy. One of the jeans had one leg with a sewn on original hem and the other leg was just folded and sewn shorter. When I pointed out all the problems, he acted like he couldn't see them. We kept going back and forth and I kept explaining over and over to no avail. It reminded me of being 17 again, going to the cheap nail salon and trying to convince the technician you don't want "sparkle nail for five dola mo." Lol. Regardless he said he would fix them but I don't have faith in his abilities. Also, he didn't refund me for being charged for work he didn't do (e.g., keeping the original hem on jeans). After I got home, I found problems with other pieces as well. I will wait to see how he "repairs" the other items before I have him fix these. The only positive thing (reason for 2 stars) I can say is that he seems to know how to taper pants very well. I would highly recommend to everyone that you find a different place to go. Just refer to the pics of the stuff I took home. Unfortunately, I don't have pics of the stuff I gave back to him to fix-those were the worst ones. UPDATE: I went to pick up the items he "fixed". I'm not someone that often gets get stuff tailored, but when I need to, I go to Yong's! He's very professional and his shop is open at convenient hours. The first time I came, I had a dress that I need to loosen up and add a skirt slit to the back. Yong deftly figured out how much to take out from the back what appropriate length the slit needed to be. He's extremely customer centric and asks you when you need it to be done. I had some time, but he still finished it within a couple days. The dress was still a bit tight when I came to try it on - but no problem, he remeasured it and the next time I came to pick it up it was perfect. Yong has great customer service and charges reasonable prices. You won't go wrong taking your clothes to get tailored here! read more

I've used this tailor for a few years now and they have done great job until recently. I brought in an expensive pair of pants to get the legs hemmed. To make it easy I typically drop off my items while picking up others. In this case I had picked up 3 items and dropped off 1 pair of dress pants. During this process they did not file my pants under the proper ticket and lost my brand new pants. Their excuse is that they couldn't find a ticket. I contacted them with exact details of drop off date, pick up date, item description, and they are still missing. After a few phone calls with the owners they have no plans on replacing my pants, so I would not recommend business here. read more

I asked for 2 embroidered name tags for a uniform. Dropped the shirts off on a Wednesday and was told it would be $20 and be ready next week. I explained I needed them as soon as possible as they were 2 out of my 3 uniforms so I would not have extra uniforms ready. I called Monday and was told they weren't ready. I called Wednesday still wasn't ready. Saturday it was ready. Took them about a week and a half to make 2 embroidered name tags and stitch them on. The name tags were a different font and significantly larger than the examples I showed them. And I was charged $54. I didn't even argue because maybe I misunderstood the pricing. I've paid $30 for 3 embroidered name tag to be made and stitched on. I would have gone somewhere else if they told me it would take 10 days and be $54 for these 2. I'm sure their actual tailoring service is great but don't get name tags made here lmao I feel robbed but oh well read more

(This is a wedding dress alteration review). I went to Mr Yong for a basic hem on my BHLDN wedding dress, which was too long and needed to be hemmed. I also wanted to either bustle or hem the train. The alteration was well done and completed within 1 week. I will update my review if I have any issues come wedding day. Mr. Yong quoted a price that was 50% lower than the more visible and mainstream bridal gown tailors in Dallas. The price he charged me was then nearly 50% lower than what he initially quoted. I didn't have to ask for a lower price. I would have given 5 stars if Mr Yong was able to bustle the dress, but he said that the fabric type would look strange with a bustle (it's a sheer muslin). It sounded difficult for Mr Yong so I didn't want to risk any issues. I appreciated his honestly though. Other tailors (Margot's and Martha's) could do bustles but they were out of my budget. OVERALL: great tailor for a bride on a budget. Easy and kind to work with. Very pleasant shop. read more

I found this tailor on help and I really hoped for the best after reading the reviews and that's what I got. I had a maxi dress shortened (which is no big deal at all) but he knew where it needed to fall and I barely had to tell him anything. I also got a dress completely taken in basically to fit me (my fault buying a dress that was too big). Anyway, I went to him and put on the dress and told him I wanted it to completely fit me on top but leave the bottom skirt alone. Not only did he understand what I meant he even gave suggestions about how much it needed to go in in certain places. I have him a week to finish because I wasn't in any rush and the dress came out perfect! I probably had 5-6 inches of fabric removed from the top of the dress so it was a pretty big job and both things only cost me about $30. I'm pretty happy to have found a tailor so close to where I live. read more
