Both were done as what we had heard about Pinocchio Furniture Restoration - the work was done by true craftsmen. They didn't just "do it" what they did was to "do it RIGHT." It's only about 30 mins from our house in Petaluma. The challenge is FINDING the place the first time. I think that using Apple or Google maps needs to be accented by talking to the folks at Pinocchio to find out how to do it. we just followed Google, but didn't get there and had to ask a worker working outside his place of business and said we took the wrong driveway. And when we did that we saw a sign that pointed to where Pinocchio was. We had a good laugh! And didn't have a problem when we returned to pick up the chair!

My wife and I took on the project of restoring our turn of the century Victorian home. What an interesting shop located at the Menlo Park Allied Gardens. I was with some colleagues in…read morethat area and the old school wood shop attracted me to go inside and take a look. I saw a lot of old chairs hanging in the ceiling, which I thought were acting as decoration. The owner/carpenter/artist/craftsman (that also looks like an actor in my opinion) told me that the chairs were in repair after some fires have destroyed so much furniture of a client and he was actually repairing them to their original state. I saw all the tools, the space, some pieces being repaired and the work of love. I have nothing to repair (after all I am an Ikea girl), but surely this shop is worth a visit even as a 'museum' of manual woodshop work.

He also stained some faded baseboard, a damaged interior threshold, and repaired a piano hinge (completely pulled off) for a large teak desk. Work was high quality and efficient (in-house work). I sourced the wood myself. For scheduling, I'd give four-minus stars. It's a bit tentative and "off" at times, but once a date was (finally) nailed, the appt was on time. I'd go to them again for work (and well might, since I have a lot of wood at my small place).
