We have used MG many times over the years for "normal" upholstery of dining room chairs and whatnot with good results. 2 years ago I had them redo the cloth seats in my 1994 Miata I've had since new. I should have done the review then but we are going to have them do Vinyl upholstery on a 50s style "L" shaped kitchen banquette booth and remembered I had never reviewed them for my auto seats. Many auto grade fabrics to choose from and two years later still looks as new. As you can see we are happy to be using them again for our next project. read more

Took my car in for est to have the a-b-c pillars redone they came out matched the int fabric, took all my info said they would call me to bring it back to them to do the job,i called them 2 weeks later they said we have no idea what you are talking about, we never saw your car. We have a large "leather" ottoman with storage that after 6 years started cracking and flaking. I called a number of upholstery shops in the Santa Rosa area and was impressed with the friendliness and knowledge of Mary at M G Upholstery. I brought the ottoman to the shop for a price quote and to discuss leather options. I felt the quote was extremely reasonable, and Mary made recommendations and ordered some leather samples. We communicated by phone and e-mail and she was always available and never once did she not answer the phone or respond to my e-mails within 48 hours. Mary never rushed us and always answered all of our questions. We chose a beautiful red/brown matte leather. We received a call that she was not happy with the leather she received and wanted to order us a different leather which she was sure we would love. She did and it was exactly the color and texture we were looking for. The ottoman turned out as we envisioned, and it fits in perfectly with the rest of our furniture. Never ever answers the phone. Never ever returns calls when you leave a message. I tried for months. Impossible to do business this way. Forget about it. Maybe they were good in the distant past but they are impossible to deal with now because there is no communication. I had to retrieve my undone job after leaving it there for several months while I tried to call with further instructions. Doesn't ever pick up the phone when you call or ever answer messages when repeately left on his answering service. They need to get a clue or they will certainly be "history". I needed my driver seat to be re-cushioned. It was really uncomfortable and it started to take a toll on my lower back. I did a quick google search and found this place, conveniently close to my house. These guys are amazing. They offer excellent customer service and pay attention to the little details. Had a six inch tear along the seam of a couch cushion. Volker answered the phone, Jamie came out within a half hour & stitched it up. They don't typically make house calls, but made an exception since the cushions of my couch don't detach. You can't tell where the tear was. It blends in perfectly. I am very disappointed in M and G. Brought my Bertoia 50s chair to Mary in Dec 2016. Picked fabric. Got price 600.00. Three months later I call, not started. I tell her I am moving will be back in about 3 months. All is well. I call in Sept. Not started on chair. Now I leave for good in 10 days. She says she will get it done. She does. I send husband to get chair. Before he can get it out of the truck,I see a silver dollar size stain. Looks like black marker. Also looks like someone tried to clean it. You know how fabic looks when scrubbed. This stain is on the seat near front. I start to cry. Husband feels bad because he didn't notice and paid 600.00 cash. Then I look at the arm where fabric is puckered. Husband says he saw that and asked her. She said the padding was degraded there. Funny, she replaced the latex pad, which she said isn't used any more with a different pad, so that was not right. I called Mary about an hour after I quit being so upset. Left message for her to call me. NO RESPONSE. Do not take your valuable furniture to M and G. Just stay away. This whole thing will need to be redone. I was better off with the original chair covering which was filthy and covered in dog hair. Maybe she didn't realize I bought the chair that disgusting and figured I had low standards. Well it took 9 months and 600.00 for nothing. read more

We are always amazed at their work! I am sorry it has taken me so long to write a review for MG Upholstery. We have had four leather repairs done by them, and their work has been way beyond our expectations. We couldn't recommend them higher. If you read other reviews, you will find that sometimes you might have to wait just a bit longer than you were told, maybe a few days, but you will be very happy when it is done. read more

This business is ran by genuinely good people. Their customer service is excellent, and so is their craftsmanship. The turn around on the work I had them perform was astonishingly fast, and the end result is stellar. I'm extremely happy I chose them, and would recommend them to anyone! Definitely DON'T recommend MG Upholstery. I made two appointments with MG Upholstery. The first one she rescheduled--after I waited a month--because it was raining. Then I showed up today at 9:30am, as we agreed, and no one was there. I left two messages on her voicemail but still haven't heard back. I ended up calling J. Ferrer Upholstery, also recommended to me, and while he said he couldn't do the work for a month, he was kind enough to take my chair and fabric and said he'd call me when it's ready. Mary and Voelker are great. They installed a carpet kit in my MGB, door gaskets, and redid a seat that was defective which I bought from Moss Motors. Excellent work at reasonable price. My Mercedes SL had a split seam on the driver seat which they repaired perfectly.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it had a tear on the drivers seat. I was referred to MG by my mechanic at Jeef's Jeep. There are no words to describe how fantastic this company is and the quality of work that they performed on my car. Bought a camping backpack for son going into Boy Scouts, and over the last few years, the poor pack has been stuffed to the gills, dragged through the dirt, thrown in the back of pick-ups, camped in the High Sierras, and boy-handled enough so that one strap was completely torn off, and the other one threatening to tear off with a sideways glance. I thought I could simply hand-sew the straps back on, but between my limited sewing skills and my lack of an upholstery needle and thread, I figured something like this is best left to professionals. Enter M G Upholstery. I called on a Saturday morning, asked if they could take a look at the pack. Mary said she could do the job, and 20-30 minutes later I arrived back to pick up the backpack. She sewed it with an extremely strong thread and glued it, besides.
