Jantz restaurants are amazing! The food is fresh and delicious. The desserts are amazing! OMG, the pies are simply the best. We've been to both the Atwater restaurant which has the main bakery and the Merced location which is newer-both places are awesome. Wednesday's are cool as you get a free sliver of pie for dessert. This place is delicious! I appreciate their attentiveness as well as accommodation to our large group. They were kind enough to add egg to my side salad order. This place is very good. The sandwiches are generally pretty well executed, if not terribly creative overall. I've had a lot of different items from the breakfast and lunch menu, as well as the baked goods. The chicken salad sandwich is very tasty, as well as the french dip. My experience with the service has always been good, although at times the waitress lags a little at the end of the meal with "closing the deal." For lunch, I tend to like the philly cheese sandwich or their newcomer, the tri tip sandwich. You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose because the food is really that good. Jantz offers something tasty for whatever your mood. Their breakfast is fresh and offers a lot of variety. Their baked good are amazing -- really, muffins, cookies, pies, other pies, more cookies... I also really enjoy their lattes. However, my favorite item on their menu is the chicken salad sandwich. I had never had chicken salad before and doubt that any other recipe will be nearly as good. Lots of chicken, cashews, and just the right amount of mayo, then put on a freshly baked roll. Very, very good. I also recommend the side of potato salad. I have always found the service friendly and helpful. They also have a location in Mariposa that is great to stop at to pick up boxed lunches on your way to Yosemite. read more

Pretty good. I really love that they bake. They are literally the only place in merced that bakes, which makes me sad! I wish more places baked! However, maybe they will see this message and bake more breads such a sourdough loafs/baguettes and breads like that rather than just sandwich bread. The desserts and bread are So Delicious. However, my reason for rather than 5 is because I think the actual food items on the menu are rather boring. I'm honestly just not really sure if I can say any of it is good... maybe some of the more lavish sweeter breakfast items.... but it seems to me like they have really mastered the desserts/breads and the other food items could use some total honest revaluation. I would suggest for them to eat in bigger nearby cities to get a gourmet sense of how their eggs should be cooked/taste and how a sandwich doesn't have to be so bland when it is for a vegetarian. Love this place...the staff is hardworking and amiable...I spoke with the manager and was happily informed they are Mennonites...well, I couldn't be happier...you won't find a better berry pie...we will be back again and again...the pricing is worth it...you're not getting store bought, your getting handmade, full of love pies...
