We go here quite often. The staff is friendly and the food is solid. The inside area is clean and relaxed. I am a fan of the Chicken Yakosoba and the Bento boxes are good also. This is a perfect place to experiment and try different dishes, every dish is pretty good across the board. The Teriyakis are solid choices. I have ordered a lot of good food from this place over the years and this is my first time I wasn't happy with my order. The chicken teriyaki had no teriyaki sauce on it and the salad tasted different. They may have changed ownership or they have a new cook. I know it's very hard for the small business to make it here in these hard times. I would hope the small businesses wouldn't change the quality or the amount of food they give out. Ordered General Tao's chicken along with a spicy tuna roll. Chicken was more like gizzards covered in a bag of salt and roll was stuffed with mayo and at least 3 days old and not spicy at all. Changing my review from 2 stars to 1 star. Tried it twice. Poor customer service, dry food. I had no sauce for the Gyoza or the Teriyaki chicken both times. The first time I complained! I mean, no teriyaki sauce for teriyaki chicken? That's the essence of the dish! Not having Gyoza sauce was annoying. But, they promised it would be right the next time so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Second time was just as bad of a fail/identical as the first. We will not be back. Go to Safeway. I've tried this place and the one other people all seem to like in Lake Stevens with the drive thru. I'm sorry but the drive thru place isn't near as good and the inside is filthy. Japan Teriyaki is super clean inside, doesn't make me wanna take my food & run home. Even the bathroom was clean. When we have time my boys always want to stay there and eat. The portions are average, sauce is good and we always leave happy. They even have a punch card that allows you a free meal after 10 punches. (1 punch per teriyaki meal) We've had the chicken teriyaki bowl, chicken teriyaki meal, mushroom chicken teriyaki and the spicy chicken teriyaki. All good. read more

Really good service, clear English and super friendly. Say they're extremely over priced and the portion size is tiny. I went to another place in the area with three stars (compared to the 4 stars this one has) and they are at least $1 cheaper and give you almost double the portion. I paid $20 for chicken breast teriyaki and bubble tea. Kind of a rip off. My food was good but it just sucks they gave me so little. And the bubble tea tasted watered down :( probably won't return unless there's no other place open. read more

I was really bummed about this place. It's closed Sunday when we normally eat out so it took us awhile to try it and we had been really excited. I'm only giving it 3 stars because the people were really sweet and I called 10 minutes before closing and they didn't care. I ordered the fried rice and my husband for Mongolian beef and I couldn't finish it. The veggies that were in it weren't traditional, it was frozen veggies thrown in rice. Kim and her husband, the owners know pretty much all the customers by name. You can order to go, call it in or sit down and eat at the location. They will give you complimentary Miso soup and bring your food to you. On average the cost of a plate is $7.99. The Miso, Sushi, Chicken Breast Teriyaki, Katsu and Spicy Chicken are our favorites.
