Scammers! The worst auto service ever!!! Took in my 2015 Honda CRV with an AC issue....they took advantage of my 80 year old grandmother. They called to provide an estimate, which included a lot of extra work that was "vital". She agreed, picked up her car assuming everything was fixed! Lie! They returned the car after charging $900+ because of the several items that were " necessary"; none of which diagnosed or fixed the AC issue. 25-30 minutes after pick up had to return because the AC issue was exactly the same. They did not explain any possible reason for this but said they would look the car over once more. Suddenly, within 30-45 minutes, they miraculously found the problem (after having had the car for more than 24 hours) and it was a $1600+ repair of the compressor, which they did not guarantee would fix the AC issue. In addition to scammers, owner was rude and service rep was dismissive and condescending! Truly worst experience ever! My grandmother had been using them for routine oil changes for this same vehicle years and was pleased with their work, even after year of being a customer, when a bit of money was able to be taken, they took the opportunity to scam her. 5 Stars - Excellent Service! I had a great experience with Japanese Car Care off of 72nd Avenue. My 2019 Hyundai wouldn't start, even after several jump start attempts (wasn't the battery) and had to be towed there around 3 PM on a Wednesday- already a stressful and annoying situation. I was honestly expecting that they wouldn't even get to checking out my car that afternoon- but I was so pleasantly surprised. Hugo called me about an hour after the car arrived and was incredibly friendly and professional. He took the time to explain the issue in detail, gave me a clear and fair price for the parts and labor (i googled to compare) and made sure I understood everything before moving forward. To my surprise, my car was repaired and ready in less than 24 hours! The whole process was efficient, transparent, and stress-free. Even the guys behind the desk who handed me my keys at 8am were super personable. Im writing this today to let you know to never be a first time customer at this shop. I was calling around to get a diagnostic done with someone who specialized in Hondas. they were the cheapest out of the 3 shops i called ($120) i arrived at the shop knowing my car was being dropped off for the next morning since that's what the nice lady told me on the phone. I arrived with an unpleasant greeting of saying i was crazy if i thought i was getting one today. then proceeded to tell me i needed to pay $120 per diagnostic? on my a/c and on my check enginelight. I agreed because i was in need.($240) came out to be ($258) BEFORE taxes. ($276) grand total. just for them to tell me i needed a new raidor fan, change the variable timing solenoid and "new" cadillac converter that could cost from "$500 to a couple grand" when can just use new oxygen sensors. I told him no way i'm getting the cadillac converter from them I'll look on my own. how much would it be to get the work done?? they hit me with ("$1,800") all the parts i just listed you can go online and buy yourself all OEM and it's under ($250)!!!!!! i dont understand where this mickey mouse number of $1800 came from. but no way i'm paying $1500 for labor. I already feel scammed with the diagnostic. i'll take my money elsewhere sir. Its sad im already down and really in need, and they're trying to get the best of me. shame on them. My daughter is in college here in Miami and I live in NJ so I was looking for an affordable and reliable mechanic. Japanese Car Care is a family owned business for over 30 yrs. They are honest, reliable, efficient and affordable. I came in for an oil change, tired rotation and headlight bulb. They were efficient, quick and the cost was very affordable. The owner Carlos even recommended a local cafe as per my request. Hugo, a service specialist, recommended replacing the tires at the next visit as these tires have had lots of usage already. I've taken two of my cars to these guys recently. A 2015 Honda Civic and a 2014 Lexus CT200H. They are very communicative, straight shooters, and the turn around is quick. Both cars required replacement parts that typically creep up along with the miles. I love that they use OEM parts and don't cut corners. I would not write this review if they stopped sending me their stupid spam emails. I tried to opt-out from the ad emails, but everytime I try i am lost in their website. Now here I am two years after the horrible experience with Japanese Car Care Center. I took my car to this shop when I got a problem with ignition coil. Thought they were honest and good guys. However, I was wrong. They told me that there is an engine oil leak that made everything messy including all spark plugs and ignition coil #4. So, they told me that engine cover gasket, one ignition coil and all spark plugs needs to be replaced. Ideally spark plugs were in pretty good shape, because I put OEM spark plugs 8 months prior. They supposed to work more. I believed in what they told me, maybe spark plugs were indeed damaged by oil. But they could have just cleaned them and put them back. Instead, they didn't even bother to think about that. They just put new spark plugs. I learned that you could just simply cleaned the oil out, and it would work normally. After everything was done, I faced another surprise, they charged me a diagnosis fee, even though they told me that diagnosis fee is waived if they do the work.If you gonna charge diagnosis fee anyway, why would you trick people? The only reason why i asked them to fix the problem is that I don't have necessary tools to replace engine cover gasket and clean up the oil. Otherwise I would do these kind of simple work by myself and save bunch of $$$. Anyway, I was happy that the problem was fixed even if it was really costly for so simple job. Well, my happiness didn't last long. I had the same problem again after some time. Engine misfire again. This time cylinder #1. Well, i went back. They told me that ignition coil needs to be replaced. I asked if it was the real problem and how they tested the ignition coil. Cause I have replaced all remaining coils 5 months earlier. They didn't give me any satisfying answer. What even worse, I noticed some oil on spark plug #1. Firstly, they didn't do their job properly the first time and secondly they didn't know the real problem. So i asked them to clean the oil and not to deal with them anymore. Because what they do is just to rip off my money. I figured out the solution myself. I changed the order of ignition coils and tested again. The error didnt change. So I changed the spark plug, which supposed to be new, if they put there new and oem. The engine ran perfectly and the problem was gone. So, dont bother to go there if you understand in cars. They don't care about fixing your car. All their worry is to get bunch of money out of you. Even if they replace irrelevant parts. As far as I understand they replace whole engine if your car had a problem with a simple nut. read more

It was my first time with my 2012 Mazda3s there. I'm yet to make a long drive to test the changes but so far all is ok. I went there with an auto transmission error code and needing to replace a TCM (transmission control module). During the diagnostics and negotiation Hugo kept me informed of all that was happening and reply to all my messages quite promptly including sending me an estimate via email. As I thought some of the service prices were a little high for an old car in the verge of being replaced I decided which ones should be done and authorized them. As it is normal now, I had to wait for the TCM module to arrive but as soon as it was received the car was repaired. In the process of replacing the TCM it was found that I had a bad motor mount and a serpentine belt and Hugo called me to request my authorization and then proceed to replace them. Another positive point is that I requested Hugo to send me a copy of Mazda original invoice for the new TCM in what I was promptly replied with. They don't care to show where, when and how much they paid for the parts you requested. This shows transparency and respect for the customer. I'm giving 5 stars because there are no decimals. A couple of things would made me give a 4.7 final review: a) One of the items I asked them to replace was the car's horn since it wasn't working. I asked them to replace for a two tone but was informed that this is something they don't do. It is a very easy and quick mod and I don't know why they do not perform this ( I wasn't requesting an air horn with compressors, etc. Just a common two tone Hella horn b) They charge me US 47.50 for "check horn operation". This I really can't understand but to be fair I didn't see when I pick the car and I didn't complain. It might be an error, at least I hope. It does not make sense to me. c) Pricewise it seemed to me very close to the ones charged by a dealer. I would expect a little less but it is not unfair if the service is done correctly and you don't have to go back to the shop many times to redo some of the services. My experience with dealers is not that good and if the service holds on as it has till now the price would not import that much. As for now it was a good experience and I plan to return when needed. It was a clean, honest, well executed, plenty of communication and transparency. The small hiccups are less important and since there isn't a 4.7 I'm going to a 5 star review. I'm doing this review because I already have my share of issues with many other shops down here in Miami and JCC was a good breath of fresh air. I am extremely picky with my car. I always try to do the work myself for that very reason; the reason i sometimes go to shops is when i need specialty tools that cost too much or a lift is needed. this time i needed both (air tools, and lift). Let me say this too, I went there because of all the good reviews and people telling me good things of it. I go into Japanese Car Care knowing where my problem was coming from (clunky suspension in the front end due to loose compression rod balljoint nuts that i couldnt tighten properly). The tech and his apprentice look over the car for about 15 minutes to come back and tell me that the clunking was coming from my brake pad bracket since it was reversed (they failed to notice the loose nut on the compression rod balljoint). He asked me if i wanted to do the brakes (which cost roughly about 200$ to install with parts). If i was any other person not knowledgable enough, I would have done the brakes and still would have had the noise. If you decide to go here, just be careful. Customer service over the phone was great!! The mechanic (not the apprentice) on the other hand got pretty defensive when I told him it wasnt the brake pad bracket. He got alittle upset and said "I told you what my opinion was, now what would YOU like me to do?". Mind you I did not have an attitude with him or talk down to him in anyway. I was quiet and professional. I respectably disagreed to his diagnosis, but I was met with resentment and felt like he just wanted me out of there afterwards. He was also alittle upset my car had aftermarket parts on. All my parts were installed correctly and not halfassed (the bracket although is reversed never causes an issue). The part I took to get tightened was immediately after I had installed the part. DO NOT GO if you have aftermarket parts, you will not be treated too great. Maybe for an oil change and tire rotation. Not trustworthy. They recommend parts you don't need, then keep your $90 diagnosis fee. I rarely write bad reviews but feel it was necessary in this case. All I needed was a battery and they said I needed over $800 in repairs. Then I asked for at least an oil change since they were keeping their $90 fee without making any repairs but was denied an oil change as well. There is no benefit of taking your car here vs your manufacturers service center. They are just as expensive if not more. If you do want to take your car to a smaller shop where you can save money I would recommend Toyoworks in Kendall. read more

I've been coming here for years to get my oil changed and car fixed. The prices are very affordable and the staff is always very friendly. In Miami, where they're always trying to grab a dollar out of you here and there, these guys are honest and inexpensive. Whenever I have an issue with my car, Carlos/ Hugo listen very carefully and try to help me as best possible. Especially since I am a mechanics dummy. I just use simple words to describe the issues with my car. And they still manage to fix it every time. Whenever they see another issue pop up they always inform me and let me know what they are going to do to fix it. They are very quick and to the point. Whenever they are fixing my car I always go into their waiting room (where they have coffee btw) and I never wait more than an hour. They are a family run business, which makes the whole experience very personal. My whole family comes here, even my extended cousins. So that's how you know a place is great! read more

I wanted to write a review for Jap Care, I've been taking my car to their facility for many years. This is my second car. I work in broward and took my car to get serviced for an oil change to a famous honda dealer due to the convenience of them being opened Sunday. The dealer gave me a long list of things needed but I declined to wait. I took it to jap care and showed them the list and they said I didn't need it and in fact all I was due for was an alignment. I do have to laugh when I'm in the waiting room, the door opens and I wonder oh no what is wrong with my car now, lol Jap care is really professional, they know you ans at times offer customer appreciation perks such as hoagies. read more

Love these guys! I've been going to Japanese Car Care for about 5 years now, back when I had a Mazda3. Now they are servicing my Honda Accord, and I have had no issues! Carlos and Hugo are so friendly, and I know I can trust their diagnostics on my car. They don't try to oversell you like other mechanics. I know other reviewers mention a diagnostic fee, but they only charge it if you don't do your repair with them. The fee is waived if you end up doing the repair there. Carlos Jr. is always fast when it comes to doing my oil changes or tire repairs. I know if I take it to them early Saturday, I'll be in and out in no time. The were able to get me in without a appointment and after the spent a lot of time locating the problem and doing what they could to fix it they weren't able to, they not only didn't charge me but found a shop that could fix the problem . Horrible experience! I went there to get a oil change. They came back to me and told me my water pump had a leak, and my serpentine belt needed to be changed. I quickly thought about the damage a bad water pump can do, so I told them to fix it for me. I know that my serpentine belt isn't an emergency issue, so I will let it be for now. Hours pass by, then the mechanic comes to me with "bad news" he walks me to my car and shows me that I'm still leaking coolant. He tells me the plate must be cracked. There was never a issue with my water pump. All he could say was "sorry". So I ask him "what do I do now?" He takes me to the office, then starts crunching numbers: he came to a total of $963.00(to fix this issue). That's with the parts and labor. He also told me I couldn't drive my car with that serpentine belt, so that has to be changed to. Then, they had the nerve to charge me $400.00 for a bad diagnostic that the mechanic made. The guy in the office tells me " I went ahead and knocked off 45 bucks". I went there for a oil change, then got screwed out off $400. After that, I decided to take it to my old mechanic. When I got there I explained to him the situation. They checked out my car, and asked me to come into the shop. They showed me that I had a busted radiator, and a bolt stuck in my block. Funny, at Japanese Car Care, they didn't even notice I was driving with a busted radiator. The second shop I went to, pulled out the bad bolt(which wasn't done at Japanese Car Care, it was from previous work done on my car) replaced my radiator, then my issue was fixed. They charged me $500, much better then the $963 Japanese Car Care, wanted to charge me to fix a plate that wasn't even the issue.My engine would have blew if I left it in the hands of Japanese Car Care. I couldn't believe they'd make me pay for a bad call that the mechanic made. Never again will I go here. I'm so disappointed. read more

Here's the story of how I became a loyal Braman Honda customer: My clutches' slave cylinder needed replacement. Called JCC, asked if they had the part. "Yes, we do!" they said. For my specific model, I asked? "Yup," they said, "bring it in Thursday. " Well, after dropping of the car, and arranging all sorts of rides to get there, I get a call at noon saying "We're going to have to order the part, and it won't arrive till Tuesday." Irked, I call Braman Honda, which is just around the corner, to ask if they have the part. "We've got the part," says Braman. Calling JCC back, I tell them the part is at Braman. No can do, they say, we've missed our window and we're still going to have to wait till Tuesday. Plus, the car can't be left overnight. I arrange all sorts of rides again to pick up the car, which is exactly where I parked it in the morning. Go in to pick up the keys, and get a bill for $80 dollars. "For what?" I ask. Diagnosing the problem, I'm told. Never mind that the car hasn't been moved. "But I asked you to replace the specific part - I even asked if you had the part, and tracked down the part when you discovered you didn't have it," I say. "What exactly did you diagnose?" It quickly became clear that the only way to get my keys back was to pay. So I paid $80, drove the car around the corner to Braman, and the work was done by 3:30. read more

When I first moved to Miami 10 years ago, these guys were a true blessing when I found them. Honest mechanics, and in Miami of all places. Specialists in Hondas and Toyotas. Very reasonable prices, quick turnaround, never cross-selling or up-selling you on work or parts you don't need. Perfect! Unfortunately over the years my experience with them has changed. Specifically, after getting married I bought my wife her first (and now second) Honda. I made her a loyal customer, practically brainwashing her into automatically taking her car to JCC no matter what the problem or service need was. Only problem: the last 3 times, she has consistently been told she needs services/parts she doesn't need, and ends up paying a lot more than she should by the time she used comes out of there. On the last occasion, she went in with a new Honda with 5K miles on it to have her oil changed, and walked out paying $125. Among the services performed was an air filter change (not needed) and a tire rotation (not needed). I could've done it at the dealership for $25. I love Carlos and the rest of the gang at JCC, and I have never had a bad experience with them personally myself. But 3 out of the last 3 times is 3 strikes as far as I'm concerned. There should be no reason why wife should be treated any differently than me, just because she clearly has little to no knowledge about basic vehicle maintenance principles vs. me. The car's needs remain the same. It's a shame: this was pretty much the only trustworthy place in Miami when it came to honest mechanics - certainly that I knew of. read more

Honestly, you are bringing your car to a mechanic because it is broken. Or else you would not be there. They will fix it right, at a fair price and with integrity. I happened to come across Japanese Care Care through a friend of mine that highly recommended them to me. I took my car in and they looked at it throughly and told me everything that my car had. I knew it was true because I had taken it to another mechanic a few weeks prior; with the difference that the other mechanic was charging me an arm and a leg for the same services. The staff is very professional and welcoming which says a lot the business. I left a very happy customer and my car has been running GREAT! I don't understand all of the negative reviews and then promoting another service provider. Smells like a bought consumer rat if you ask me. I wouldn't trust me car with anyone else. Very dissatisfied with Japanese Car Care. I would avoid this place. They will quote you on most the most expensive option to fix a particular issue without promising you that it actually will resolve the problem. Then, they charge you a $79 "check out fee". If you are going to charge a "check out fee" shouldn't you take the time to figure out exactly what the problem is? There are many mechanics in Miami.
