Although they did a good job on my car for the original job I need done on my car. I asked them to check my brakes and rotors & to see why my car was jolting when I hit the brakes, to find out if there was anything wrong with my car. They gave me a $2059.00 estimate to change my brakes bc they were at "15%", rotors were "damaged" & lower control arms needed to be replaced.... Yesterday my friend checked my brakes & rotors... MY BRAKES DONT NEED CHANGING. MY ROTORS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. Lower control arms are the only thing that needed to be swapped. I am so glad I didn't have the work completed because it would have been useless. They would have finessed me $2000. read more

I went here on somebody's recommendation, and was not disappointed. Went in thinking I had transmission issues, but after they checked out the car, it ended up being front and rear bearings. In 2016 at the recommendation of a co-worker, I took my 1998 C1500 Chevy truck to Alonso's transmission. (Ralph and son) took outstanding care of me, rebuilt the transmission and I was on my way. I have taken my truck back a few other times since and every time have been treated like family. back in 2021 something went wrong with the transmission, it was out of warranty by then but Ralph did what he could for me on the cost, which I could live with. In between then and now 2023 I had a hip replacement so the truck was not driven hardly at all, low mileage, even though the time warranty was up, Ralph again was there for me and repaired the transmission, and with a handshake and a thank you for my business sent me on my way. This is a place that cares about the customer!! I am grateful and feel like family, I highly recommend them for your vehicle repairs. Totally unprofessional people. My transmission was slipping a little from first to second and I decided to take it to Alonzo transmission to repair what should have been an easy fix due to me thinking it was a bad solenoid or something and that'll end up costing me $2,800 they kept the car there for over a month and I later found out that the mechanic I was driving my car around town they were beer cans and now I had an infestation of roaches in my car the mechanic got into an argument and got fired and they just told me that it was just a clogged filter and they stuck it to me. I had an amazing experience there. I brought in my 2014 pathfinder because my transmission was going. Instead of taking my money & replacing the transmission, he took the time to research my warranty info. When I bought the Nissan, it's warranty was standard 60k. So I thought that he was wasting time & it would be pointless. Turns out they had extended my SUV's warranty on its transmission due to the CVT failure for that year's model. He called Nissan & even confirmed. In the end, he didn't ask me for a dime & my transmission was replaced for free by Nissan. I can't thank him enough. He could've charged me for the diagnosis, the transmission & I wouldn't have questioned it because I new it was the tranny. But he didn't. If you are looking for honesty, I highly recommend Alonso. Been having issues with my car, and the mechanic who's been working on it tells me my transmission needs to be replaced. In the advice of a family member, he recommends that I should take it to Alonso to get a second opinion; he recommends them and said they are fair and a serious place. The attention given to me by Ralph and his crew was outstanding. They found the issue after a few minutes, and needless to say, the mechanic I was taking it to was wrong. Engine has bad motor mounts that needs to be replaced. These guys also made sure to check the battery on the car since my car's electronics are very sensitive when it comes to a good operating battery - result is that my battery is bad and needs to be replaced. They are very nice on their customer service but unless you want to pay DOUBLE the price on any transmission service I wouldn't recommend them. I went to them because of their great reviews but me being car Savvy and knowing what my service should cost they couldn't get me to do any service to my car. These people are thieves $$$ to "rebuilt" an old simple transmission they were charging me $1500!! Mind you a "brand new" transmission costs $1300! Also to replace a few gaskets they were charging me $900 then I explained they were only $50 gaskets and they dropped the price to $600 in a matter of minutes, there I knew these people were out to get you if you don't know much about cars and costs. I finally left and got my service done somewhere else for $250 (resealed transmission) and to rebuilt was $600. Had my trucks transmission rebuilt by them in February 2017 My truck had 75,000 Miles. I specifically asked that my original transmission be rebuilt the guy who worked with the owner told me absolutely. Then with in less then a day I'm told my truck is ready. I was very surprised it was ready so quick. When I ask the owner he told me it was easy its a very common transmission we just pulled it out and swapped it with an other we had ready. Ok fine I let it go the track ran great so OK . a few days later I'm in a shopping center and my truck wont go into gear. The owner asked me to go under the truck and manually shift it or do something. I wan't able to he quickly dispatched a mechanic. I had a guy there in 30 min. The guy found that the "clip" that hod the shift cable was broken. he took the truck back to the shop and one of there guys dropped me off. Then later the guy that worked there not the owner calls me he tells me the shift cable broke and it would be like $230 I lost it because if the shift cable broke it broken when they removed and re installed the other transmission. I end up speaking with the owner who quickly calms me down and say not to worry about it. When I pick up the truck I asked the owner what he did and he jokingly says he guerrilla glued the part. I looked it him like what and he smile sand says I'm joking. I'll say friendly guy with a really good attitude. about 7 month later I'm in a driver through and I hear a huge crunch and grind and my truck would not move. I send it over to them they tell me its the planetary gear that exploded like a grenade. Ok I'm under warranty and they quickly honers my warranty they again had my truck ready the very next day. at this point I'm worried what can I expect I mean it did last a year. the owner tells me not to worry that wont happen again. He's right that didn't happen again. What happened now is that my truck doesn't go into 3rd gear. it goes on 1st 2nd but then 3rd it feels like its in neutral now a year and a few months later i'm out of warranty and out the $1400+ I spent. Not worth the it for a year. I guess you get what you pay for I'm going with the dealer now for a factory re manufactured transmission for $3,500 installed more money but but much more warranty I wish I would have made that choice fist rather then through away $1,400 on this guy. read more

I took my car to Aamco transmission at 7247 SW 40 st in Miami, Fla. Aamco advised me that it was some parts bad in the transmission and to open up the transmission was $325 plus whatever others parts bad once they open transmission and it will cost me up to $1,300, I did not Aamco trans believed them. I took my car to Alonso transmission at 7007 SW 13 Ter in Miami,Fla. and inspected my car and told there was nothing wrong with transmission, only missing 1 quart of transmission oil. GREAT REPAIR SERVICE IN MIAMI, ESPECIALLY FOR LARGER VEHICLES Over the last eight years in Miami, I have wasted a lot of time and money at incompetent and deceitful auto repair shops. So I was very happy to find extremely good service and follow-up at Alonso Transmission this past summer. They remain the first shop I recommend to friends, especially when they are having problems with larger vehicles. My 23-ft. class-C RV is built on a 1986 Chevy G-30 van chassis. Less than 50 miles after spending $1,600 on repairs at the Goodyear shop run by Carl Pelt & Sons in Homestead, FL, smoke was billowing out of the rear wheel area and it would only move in Reverse gear. Even though the work was still under warranty, I saw no point in bringing the vehicle back to Pelt & Sons for yet more slow and useless "repair." After consulting with auto service centers over the phone, the consensus was that the transmission needed to be overhauled, with cost estimates ranging from $1,400 to over $2,000. My first thought was to go to locally well-known Wiwi Transmissions since they had done good work on another vehicle of mine back in 2007. But Wiwi said they were not equipped to handle a RV. Fortunately, a light repair shop near my home in S. Miami said that, for many years, they had been sending all such jobs to Alonso Transmission because they were way more dependable than any other company, even the one a just a few doors down the street. Before entrusting them with my RV, I visited Alonso and was encouraged to see how professional and well-organized both the office and shop were. They also had the strong lifts and height clearance to do work on trucks; as they proudly stated, my RV was not nearly as big as the county school buses they regularly service. Over the following week, Alonso Transmission's staff, especially their mechanical troubleshooter Ralph and office manager Rey, constantly proved to be very cordial, knowledgable, meticulous, and honest. Their superior service started with just getting the RV over to the shop in the first place. S. Miami AAA had sent two different tow trucks to try to haul it, but neither could figure out how to get the rear wheels to roll forward. During this ordeal, Ralph, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, advised us by phone repeatedly over a period of two hours despite it being past normal business hours (he didn't charge me for the time). After we gave up on AAA, he sent over a crew that solved the problem quickly. The RV was delivered to the shop in the late afternoon and Rey reported back to me the next morning that the problem was not the transmission, but cheap parts that had crumbled and jammed the rear drum brakes, causing the wheels to lock in any Forward gear. These were exactly the parts that Pelt & Sons had installed less than 50 miles earlier. Before starting any work, Rey gave me an estimate that detailed every part, service, and labor time that would be needed to fix the problem, emphasizing that I should use high-quality parts. Since everything was reasonably priced, I let them add on a warranteed transmission inspection and service: the vehicle was old, there was no record of transmission maintenance or inspection ever having been done, and so I thought it was worth making sure everything was in good shape before I went on a long trip. The work was promptly done and I was relieved to see that not a single penny more was charged than the list I had originally approved. Because of the age of the RV, there were other small repairs that I requested after the main work was done and which Alonso promptly performed, some of them for no charge at all, such as installing a new battery tray (the old one had corroded away). It is common knowledge that shops that can do difficult transmission work well are also skilled at doing simpler repairs; Alonso Transmission proved this adage to be true. A few days later, I was on the road again, the RV running more smoothly than it had ever done in recent years. I encountered no problems during the 600-mile round-trip. When Rey called to follow up on the repair and invite me to bring it back for a free check-up, I was too far away to bring it in. I felt that the invitation was a fine courtesy to extend and showed me that Alonso Transmission has confidence in their work. After unbelievably bad experiences with repair shops in Miami, whether for mechanical or body work (the one exception being Wiwi Transmissions, which, however, as I've already mentioned, does not work on RVs), I couldn't help but feel that I had karmically earned the pleasure of receiving great, honest service at Alonso Transmission. I expect its fine reputation to continue to grow and that it will be rewarded with wonderful success for its superior work and unmatched dedication to customers. read more

Unfortunately, Alonso transmission has terrible service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They are taking advantage of the fact that they speak English and some of their customers hardly speak the language, so be aware! I had a transmission change here, for which I brought in my own transmission. I was told that they give a warranty for their service (a lie). They pretend to be professional but they are a bunch of undercover thieves. After picking up my car and driving it, I noticed transmission fluid leaking on my driveway. I took my car back to Alonso's, and Rafael said the leakage didn't have anything to do with the work they did. I also noticed oil leaking, so I went back yet again, and Rafael said that the oil leakage also doesn't have anything to do with his work. Then he told me that to inspect the leakage they would have to bring down the transmission and charge me $500 dollars again! Don't be fooled! Alonso transmission, managed under Rafael and a partner next to his front desk, is a scam. They won't tell you that if you change the transmission you should also change the seals for the transmission. These seals at the dealers are very economical, ranging from $5.00-$8.00, and Alonso's does not use the original seals, so they don't fit exactly, at which point any transmission will experience oil leakage of both transmission and motor oil. This is ridiculous, so you can take your car back and pay another $500.00 to fix the leakage when they can just give the customer the option of purchasing the original seals not the after market ones. I think it makes sense that if you bring the transmission down you should install new seals to avoid future oil leakage, that way customers can refer other people and give good feedback, but on the contrary they do it so you can take it back to them and they can again charge you another $500.00. In conclusion, avoid this place as much as possible. I had to pay a mechanic to change one of the seals that was leaking transmission oil, but I continue to have motor oil leaking where the motor and transmission joins. A good citizen doesn't deserve to be lied to, especially when you are paying $500.00 for the installation and warranties (which do not exist). read more

But they did not just throw parts at it. And call it a day they made sure it was the problem. And fixed it right.
