I went there thinking because it was run by somebody I'd known for awhile, I wouldn't risk getting…read morescrewed or getting the run around. Man, was I wrong. There have been a litany of issues to speak of since starting the car buying process, and recurring problems that keep coming up, even now, 3 months after having purchased the car. Knock on wood, the car has been decent since purchase. But the paperwork these guys screwed up, MY WORD. They waited too long to get the car registered so I couldn't transfer my plates. They bounced a check for the sales tax to the registry. Not that they cared about that, as I got the notice saying my registration was going to be suspended. Not them. When I tried to contact them, they would avoid answering my phone calls for HOURS, to the point where I'd have to drive to Westport just to communicate with these people. They tried to tell me they'd take care of it and that it was their responsibility to get the taxes paid. Obviously I trusted them to do nothing so we had to ask for the cash REPEATEDLY so that I'd be able to go to the registry myself to take care of it. And NOW, because they only did a partial registration, I already had to go renew the registration this morning. EXCEPT I COULDN'T because I had a block for insurance verification. Apparently, when they registered the car, they failed to give the DMV proof of insurance, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD MY INSURANCE PAPERWORK. I don't know if this was done by way of scumbaggery or if these people are straight up inept. It honestly might be a little of both. I'm embarrassed for having dealt with these people. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I thought I was friends with the guy who owned the joint, and he seemingly went out of his way to make sure this was the least pleasant transaction of all time. You really going to risk going there knowing this is how he treats his friends? I can only imagine how he treats his regular customers.

BEWARE!! DARTMOUTH MA Do not go to this place. I recently walked into this place hoping to get a…read moredecent deal only to realize this place is a complete scam. First off normally when your walking around a car lot your almost always greeted by a sales person that is pretty knowledgeable about what's on the lot. This place don't even talk about the cars until they get your info and finances in their system. Not to mention the inside is so outdated the offices all have faded advertising and dirty certificates on the walls the rugs are dirty the employees are miserable not to mention fake and very judgmental. Finally after getting my info in the system we talked about a 2013 Volkswagen Golf that they wanted 13000 for mind you this car is 8 years old with 113000 miles on it and they wanted me to pay $440 a month not including insurance. This car is valued around $7 to 8000 max. For $440 a month will normally get you into a much better car newer with less miles. Overall it would be close to $600 a month with insurance which they wanted full coverage with contingency's. $600 a month for an 8 year old car with 113000 miles on it such a great deal huh considering with in the first 3 months I'll most likely have issue oh wait but for $7 extra a week I can get a warranty... When I questioned The " salesman " Brian about it he proceeded to explain that the goal is to not set people up to fail when that is exactly what they want you to do. Before going to this dealership I did some research only to find out that the Massachusetts attorney general had a lawsuit against them for scamming consumers and messing up peoples credit. Im surprised this place is still open to be honest... this is a glorified junkyard I really hope this helps because no matter how good or how bad your credit is I do not recommend going to any JD Byrider

I'm not here to bash anyone in particular, but I am here to leave my experience of what happened…read morewhen I went to look at cars. First off let me say that my credit isn't stellar. I arrived with everything they ask me to bring. Proof of income, proof of address and my drivers license, for myself and my co-signer. I was then asked for my landlords phone number and right then and there asked to see what cars I was being offered and Brian rattled off roughly 5 cars. I asked if we could go outside to see them and he said (and I quote) "We don't like to let people see the cars before they see our finance department because we don't want them to get excited in case they aren't approved". So I'm guessing test driving anything was out of the question as well. I asked about me pulling car fax at my expense and he said that they did something similar to car fax and left it at that. At that point we had been sitting there for about 5 minutes Brian told me I'd have to put $1000 down and payments would be $500 a month. How did he come up with that before I even picked a car out?! We got up and left. I've financed cars in my lifetime, I've bought cars outright and I've never been told I wasn't able to see the cars before I saw the financing department. That doesn't make sense. Why would I let someone run my credit (again bc Jay had already run my credit) before I even know what car I'm going to be purchasing. Just be aware, the $99 down or even zero down is false advertising. Read the fine print (there is none), ask questions, stick up for yourself. This whole 5 minute scenario raised big red flags for me. At this point it worries me that they have my financial information, my co-signers information, my landlords name (thank god i didn't give his phone number). It's worrisome too think of the condition of the 5 cars I'd have been offered AFTER being approved. I was even giving them a chance after reading the horrible reviews on the BBB website. Thankfully I'm not a pushover, and I'm not desperate. Please stay clear of this place. The website makes them sound like an absolute dream. They will put you in a car that has over 100,000 miles on it (I forget which car Brian had mentioned, but it was over 100,000 miles) and you'll most likely have problems well after the warranty runs out and you'll still be paying for the car. Do research, look on the BBB website, and LOOK AROUND. There are better places that offer financing to people with less than stellar credit, I promise you that. I found a place that same day. I was able to test drive cars before even running my credit. I'd hate to see someone that doesn't have experience with these types of places and are desperate for a car get blindsided by Jay and Brian. I emailed Jay this morning to let him know I'd be leaving a review of my experience. These are facts, this was our experience. Good luck in your search for cars. There's a place 1/2 mile up there street at the set of lights that will treat you well. As I end this review, I will say I have proof of being told I couldn't see the cars before hand, and leave it at that. One last thing, if you sort the google reviews you'll see 141 reviews were made by the dealer, it'll say "by JD Byrider" all 5 stars- that's one more red flag.

Mark is my hero. He has come to my rescue not once, but twice, and has always gone the extra mile…read morewhen I needed him most. A week and a half before I was scheduled to fly across the globe to spend a month in Taiwan, the Toyota Corolla in mint condition that I'd bought from Mark 3 years ago was totaled in my own driveway while I slept, by a drunk teenager who tried to pull a hit and run. His mom turned him in the next day, but I was still stuck with the problem of taking care of this accident, finding a good car that I could afford with my insurance money, and getting it registered before I left the country. In truth, it was an impossible task. Mark and Crestwood to the rescue! Not only did Mark find me a car that I could afford and that I absolutely loved, he also took care of the registration and paperwork and managed to get it all pushed through for me in time for me to catch my plane. When I returned, jet lagged, a month later and freaked out over every little noise that the car made after having to sit for 30 days without being driven, Mark was as calm and patient as a good father would've been when I called him, sometimes twice a day. and drove the car out to ask "are you sure??" Every little noise turned out to be nothing, just as he promised, and in a couple days the car was purring like a kitten. What I appreciated the most about Mark was his sensitivity, not only to the urgency of my problem, but to my state of mind and my nerves. In all the years that I have known him, he has never once made me feel like an idiot for asking even the silliest of questions. He really understands and cares about people. And he will never let you down when you place your trust in him. Do I recommend Mark and Crestwood when you want to buy a used car? That is a resounding, 100% YES!

I noticed a big difference. He is not your typical sales person. I would gladly do business with him again in the future.

As a result, I reached out to see if they could just wire the correct amount to the dealer. NFCU would not wire to the dealer. This makes little sense, as wiring it to the dealer would be the most secure option, and would ensure their security of the collateral. Instead, I was given the option to either request a direct deposit of the original funds amount to my account, then wiring it myself to the dealer or reapply for a new loan of the new amount. They would not even reissue the check for a lower amount. I chose to have the funds direct deposited. WHAT A MISTAKE. The process started on Thursday evening, and funds were finally deposited on Wednesday. At that point, I call in to do a wire transfer. I'm then told that it can't be done over the phone, and that I would have to send it as a secure message. The wire process is now slated to take 24-48 hours... That's pretty unheard of for an institution of their size. Wires are designed to have the money be sent within minutes. All in all, the whole process added over a week of delay to the process. Had I known it was this bad, I would have just reapplied on the phone Thursday night, overnighted the check, and had it by Saturday. NFCU should seriously reconsider their processes. These inefficiencies will seriously turn away newer member. Also, prior to this whole ordeal, the dealer told me that they would accept the check, but that they would have to wait until it cleared before allowing me to pick up the car... seems like they themselves have had to deal with these inefficiencies.
