I've been taking my fleet here for the last six years, and every time I deliver my vehicles here, whether there are problems with the alternator or something significant with the engine, Jose, and his team have always been highly professional and very reliable, it's highly crucial for me to have the reliability because the majority of my vehicles are intended for Work, they truly value their work. He also specializes in multiple vehicles; I'd highly recommend this business and its exceptional services, thank you very much.

Our friend recommended this auto shop and we have used it and are not disappointed. They give excellent feedback and service, and they get the job done. My boss has received work done on her car too! I had an oil leak. They found it and fixed my gas tank door. So now it pops, and I don't have to use my key to pry it open. Lol. Monica knows cars. She knows how to get things done. She's is our she-ro. Big shout out to Jose and all the guys. Thank you so much. I am very happy with the repairs done on my subaru Forester. 5 Star's

I found Sawaya Automotive online and brought the car in. I could immediately tell that I had made a good choice. The owner Tony greeted me in the parking lot and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the process. I would say my impression is that he is the most honest auto mechanic I have encountered anywhere around the US. It turned out that I had a very serious engine issue and that it was better to sell the car than get it fixed. Tony was so kind in explaining this to me in detail, and he never tried to convince me to pay for repairs that didn't make financial sense. It was not the news that I was wanting to hear, but that's not the fault of Tony or anyone else at Sawaya Automotive. If I ever need auto maintenance work again in San Diego I will definitely come back here."

He is honest and will give you recommendations on how to keep your car in prime condition. Don't go to him if you're looking for cheap, low-quality service. If you want expert mechanic work and are looking to get the full lifespan of your car, he is your guy. Not only that, but Tony has connections all over San Diego for services other than mechanical work. He has helped me get my transmission replaced in an old Toyota Avalon, knows the best guy to get your engine steam-cleaned, and helped connect me with a center that does body-damage/painting after a collision. The reason I am just writing a review after going to him for 8 years is because I was blown-away with my last service experience with him a few days ago. I took my 2011 Toyota Camry in for it's 60,000 mile service, which he did along with replacing my rear struts (which were original). My car is now running better than it did when I bought it 2 years ago at 35,000 miles. Not only that, but he completed all the work in 1 day and didn't charge me for an additional $600 worth of work. He is truly an honest mechanic and I can't recommend him and his shop enough. I won't take my cars anywhere else.

Are you going to warranty issues that arise to the switching to an oil that would void a mfg…read morewarranty? I bet not! Higher viscosity leads to higher pressures which lead to seals leaking and failing. I'm really surprised you haven't researched this. How about the leaking oil filter a day after install? Seems like a sure way to get more money outta a customer once their engine gets starved of oil. How about the sloppy work with oil left all over my car? Lack of care and integrity. How about the scratches from resting my tires on the paint of my car? Lazy and inconsiderate. Pulled from the article that copied and pasted "Engine Design Changes: Newer Toyota engines are designed with tighter tolerances and specific lubrication needs that necessitate these thinner oils, such as OW-16 or OW-8." Highly recommend for road trip prep!…read more This is an amazing place to get your vehicle inspected before a long road trip. I booked online, noted my concerns in the text box, and dropped my car off the next day. After checking in at the office, I walked Joey through my concerns and opted for a Post-Purchase Inspection. Joey sent over the findings quickly and gave me his honest, upfront opinion on what needed immediate attention before my trip versus what maintenance could wait until I reached my destination. He also provided a clear copy of the inspection quotes so there were no surprises. In the end, they completed the full inspection, replaced the car battery, and fixed a coolant leak for around $550+ (including taxes). I definitely recommend this shop! Pro-tip: Try to get there early in the day, as on-site parking and road traffic can get a bit hectic later on.

I brought in my Honda Ridgeline for an issue with my AC. Jason worked with me at the front-desk and went above and beyond to understand my issue and the troubleshooting I had already done. He explained to me CONCISELY what the feasible issue may be, and how they were going to approach a diagnosis. Jason was extremely knowledgeable, and followed up promptly to discuss the fix. Pedro was also exceptional. He found the issue (rodent-chewed wires) and repaired it perfectly. When I picked up my car, he was as excited as I was to have helped me. Before Miramar Auto, I took my truck to the Honda dealer, and they charged twice as much for a diagnosis, only to tell me that I would need a new compressor (incorrect diagnosis) and that it would cost twice as much as I ended up paying out the door at Miramar auto. I couldn't believe how easy Miramar Auto made it. To say that Jason, Pedro, and Miramar Auto are honest, fair, and made me feel taken care of... would be an understatement. They have rightfully earned another lifelong customer. Thank you Miramar Auto!

This might be lengthy, but these guys deserve every word and a few minutes of my time…read more 2007 honda civic si 2 door coupe with 80K on the odometer. I was saving it for my son when he turned 16. Now he's 16, but the problem is that he's the kind of kid that I don't have full confidence in when it comes to using a clutch and stick. Anyway, I (after looking around for about a year at new civics) decided, "Screw this. I'm not taking on a new car payment for the stuff they're offering. My '07 is awesome, it just needs a little tweak here and there. I'd rather restore what I've got for between $5-10k all in." The first thing was the clutch, because a mechanic at Shell f'd it up a few years back. So I buy the exedy racing clutch on Amazon and start hunting for someone to install it. Just for giggles, I went to Honda in Kearney Mesa (San Diego) to get a quote. Labor alone? $2,652 with a timeline of 24-36 hours. Yeah. Right. I'm sure. Literally TWO blocks away, I stumbled upon Car Tune after some online prowling. Anyway, I found them, and I KNEW I struck gold the second I pulled up. I hadn't even MET anyone yet. All I had to see were the cars they were working on. Fully 80% of the cars in the bay and parking area were what would be considered "street racers," and I know from living in San Diego how SERIOUS these guys are about their cars. They DON'T mess around. They're sort of like the car version of Harley Davidson fanatics when it comes to motorcycles. That alone put a smile on my face. Second thing I noticed? It may seem like a trivial issue to most people, but because I'm in the restaurant business for over 30 years, I notice stuff like this. But here it is. Every guy working there was nearly SPOTLESS. I don't mean they were decked out in matching uniforms or anything. They were just wearing regular clothes, but everything they were wearing had a MINIMAL amount (if anything at all) of dirt, grease, grime, oil and everything else that comes with the automotive trade. In other words, PROFESSIONAL. The garage itself was basically the same way. Think about it. If you went into the hospital to have your BODY "tuned up" and the doctor walked into the room with blood stains all over his outfit how much confidence would you have about his professionalism? Anyway, those 2 factors made a really good first impression on me. After telling them my problem and letting them know I've got the part, they quote me $1,600 LESS than honda, and at least $200 less than other places I had called. Plus, they gave me a 10 hour timeline as opposed to 1-2 days. They came in well under the deadline, and my 8th gen is running like it's brand f'n new. There's more to that clutch story, but you understand the broad strokes so onto the next fix. The air conditioner. Sooo, of course I pull up to my new friends one morning after dropping my son off at his job a few blocks away. Once again, I explain what's going on to one of the guys who's outside and he tells me he isn't "..quite sure what the exact # is, but I think we charge around $250.." That's fine with me, because I've had others quote me figures closer to $400, like Jiffey Lube who charges me $90 for an oil change. Keep those 2 #s in mind because they're relevant. So, I go home and call the next day to make an appointment. When I show up, I find out that the other guy was waaaay off on his #s because it wasn't $250....it was $135. And, once again, I was told it would take about an hour and a half. About 30 minutes in, one of the guys mentions that my oil is low. I was getting ready for an oil change in a few weeks anyway so I said "Go ahead, whatever you think is best." They said it'd be $35 extra. So, air conditioner fixed and blowing air colder than a witch's tit, and an oil change cost me $170 plus tax, and it was done perfectly. Jiffy Lube would have whacked me for 5 bills and taken all day long to do it. Car Tune did it in 50 minutes which is 40 minutes less than the time they quoted me. One other thing and then I'm out. It's not just that THEY'RE good, it's that birds of a feather flock together. In other words, they don't fix headliners, but when I asked them about it they instantaneously knew exactly who I should call, which again is the mark of a pro in any line of work. I need some body work done. 20 years of little dents dings etc. They'll know someone. I eventually want to paint it. They'll know someone. It's people like this that make a difference. There's a line from the movie Rounders that comes to mind. "You can shear a sheep many times, but skin him only once." The team at Car Tune CLEARLY understands that principle.

This was a big job and I was nervous about the outcome because I didn't know John. The price was very fair. Less than a week later, I received a message that my van was ready for pickup. My wife and I were pleased with the smoothness of our van and to have all of the problems we had with the old engine gone. It has now been a year or close to a year since the engine replacement. Since then John has serviced all of our vehicles. We have been pleased with every job he has done for us and especially appreciate his integrity that allows us to contact him if we detect anything wrong with the repair. We've never had to contact him, but pleased with knowing he takes full responsibility for his repairs. For the last month, I've been driving my Toyota Avalon around scorching hot San Diego with no air conditioning. I took it to a nearby Honda service center only because they were closer to where I live. They quoted me over $1900 to replace the compressor and some other parts. This included labor. I brought my Toyota Avalon to John last night not expecting him to do anything until the next day. That same night, John texted me the fantastic news that he didn't believe my car needed a compressor, but was in desperate need of freon. John wanted to keep it overnight to see if he could detect any leaks. This morning, John contacted me to pick up my car! For the first time in over a month, my car felt like the North Pole. Don't usually do reviews or speak this much, but I owe this to John and his team for their excellent mechanic work and honesty.
