My wife and I had a leak in our kitchen fridge. While we only had about 80 sqft of damage to our hardwood, the floor was 15 years old, and the damage affected the kitchen, eating nook, hallway to the bedrooms and living room - the most heavy-traffic area of the house! We called Parker Jarvis, and he had a team over that afternoon to remove the damaged floor and get fans and dehumidifiers in the space to prevent mold growth in the walls. My wife and I were blown away with the level of service the entire Jarvis team offered. Parker worked directly with our insurance carrier and determined that it would be impossible to replace just the damaged wood to adequately match the rest of the floor. He discussed with our insurance agent to conclude that the ground floor hardwood would need to be replaced, along with the base trim, and that my family would need temporary living for a month in a comparable house (not the apartment the insurer suggested) I had no idea of the amount of work this would entail. When all was complete, there had been around 20 Jarvis team members involved in the work - 4 guys to pack out the house into PODS, a guy to remove the base trim, a couple to prep the space (tape/tarp off areas that were not going to be demo'ed), a team to remove the hardwood, another to install it, guys to install and paint the new base trim, and the packing crew to move our belongings back into place in their respective rooms. A couple ceramic hanging light shades broke, and they informed us immediately and reimbursed us for the cost. They had been bagged to prevent dust from accumulating (part of the prep). It was August, and we have no A/C, so the crew had the windows open. A gust of wind caught the bag and knocked the lamps together. No problem! My wife and I are convinced that had we only dealt with our insurer, we would have been stuck with an eye-sore of a patch job in the middle of our living space. Jarvis got us new floors that we got to pick. They're gorgeous and will be a selling point if we ever decide to move. The communication was great, we had questions and concerns addressed fast (calls, texts, emails), and Parker was spot on with his estimate of how long the work would take. I can't recommend the Jarvis team enough. We've already told our friends in the area that if they ever need restoration work, these guys are the ones to go to! read more

Our recommendation is to avoid this company at all cost. If you value your home and want your repairs done professionally, just find another company. This company, once paid by the insurance company will not stand behind their work at all. They are contractors that work without a contract, do substandard work, and will not complete the job to an industry standard. Do yourself a favor and find someone who will work for you and get your job done right. Our home was destroyed in a fire and the structure repair was overseen by the city. The inside of our home, however, was completed without a contract, which is illegal. At no time was one provided to anyone; us, the homeowners, our HOA, the insurance company, attorney's, the courts the California Licensing Board, or anyone. There just wasn't one. And once we received a copy of the notice of completion, we realized the level of fraud was astounding. They were paid to put in the top of the line things we had in our home prior, but they put in the cheapest quality items possible. They were paid for items we paid for, and for work they did not do, and the work they did do, we have had to tear out completely and re-do at our own expense. We had a fully custom kitchen, and Jarvis put in a Koville pre-fab kitchen. Our kitchen is currently demo'd and we found out that they pierced the plumbing, a drain pipe when installing cabinetry, so we have a leak in the walls. We had to completely re-do our second bathroom upstairs because we had numerous leaks. They re-built our master bath, and it leaks as well. These are supposed to be water restoration experts. Every single thing Jarvis did in our home will eventually be torn out and re-done. And as we are in the process of doing that, we are continually running into more problems due to their poor workmanship. A year after they completed our home, we finally got them to agree to come out and we were told that our warranty/guarantee would cover repairs, never to be heard from them again. Casey Vail, Parker Jarvis, and of course, the owner Steve Jarvis and their entire team are responsible for this. Do your research and find someone reputable who will work for you to avoid this nightmare. We are four years out from the fire, two years out from moving back in, and our home is room after room of being torn up, all at our own expense. They deserve no stars. read more

Don't be fooled by the fancy, expensive folders they leave with you or the shiny flyers. Unbelievable how they string you along and don't follow through. I would not recommend them. I really wanted to hire this company, but they don't follow through! I had an appointment at 8:40am . They first showed up at my door at 8:00am with no warning. We weren't even ready for them. We scrambled to get organized in 10 minutes and let the two gentlemen in. They seemed very knowledgeable, at least the one named Peter did. This was a Friday and I was told I would receive an estimate by Monday morning. When I hadn't received anything by Thursday, I called Kevin who returned my call and said there was a problem with the estimate computer software and that I would be receiving an estimate by the evening. I didn't receive it. I sent an email again to Kevin the following Tuesday, and a man named Drew called me that evening. He stated that I would be getting an estimate by lunch the following day and that the software was down (what ever happened to pen, paper and a calculator?) He also mentioned that I was out of their normal working area, but since he was given the report, that they would do the job. I find this very odd, considering that they drove out to do an estimate in the first place!! No one MADE them come to my house! Needless to say, I have yet to receive the report. This is a potentially huge job for this company, that could be a huge profitable job for them, and have not been given an estimate to date. It has now been 2 weeks. read more

Worst experience we had ever had with this restoration company. We chose Jarvis based on Yelp's ranking but obviously we got it all wrong. The manger Deana is a complete liar asshole with no conscious . She is a monster with no humanity. The crew that works for her are all good hard worker Mexicans but she herself who is the manager is a disgusting person. I still can not believe people like her exists. My husband was scheduled to have a brain surgery to remove his tumor and meanwhile we got a pipe burst at home in Aliso Viejo. We were supposed to be out of home in hospital in San Diego from Wednsday Jun 7th to Saturday Jun 10th. A week before the surgery we talked and Deana the manager promised us to finish the job at the right time before we get home. I specifically emphasized that she update us regarding the situations and how the work is going while we are in hospital. You know what happened? no news from that bitch AT ALL during our staying at hospital . I called. text messaged, emaild several times no fucking news from the bitch. We got home on Sunday home was a complete mess with her crew working. They said they were scheduled to start on Friday afternoon and it will not be finished soon!!! me furious with my husband in post operation pain. had to take him to a hotel etc......These people are horrible. If I can give this company zero stars I would. I initially called Jarvis to restore my house because I had a major plumbing leak. They arrived and completed the restoration process in a timely matter. After the completion of the restoration, Jarvis project manager named Bryan contacted me claiming he's going to manage the contracting of my house. He came down to my house for an estimate of the repairs and seemed very uninterested of the job, UNTIL I told him the insurance was going to cover the repairs! He then got joyful and quickly contacted my insurance adjuster. After 10 days, he still hasn't sent any estimates of the repairs to my insurance adjuster and now I have to contact other contractors to do the work they didn't compete. It seemed to me Bryan and Jarvis wanted to commit insurance fraud and over charge their repairs to pocket some money. They never gave me any information on how much and what was going to be replaced. The company is sketchy and the project manager named Bryan is untrustworthy. I also found out that my insurance adjuster is friends with Bryan. I am now requesting a new insurance adjuster because they both possibly have been trying to scam and commit insurance fraud to many other homes. Watch out for these guys. I also just got off the phone with my insurance and they are speaking with the president of the insurance company to conduct an investigation. Good luck Jarvis. read more

I had a closet under a staircase in a condominium that is a second home. About s month ago. I was cleaning this rarely visited area and noticed moisture in the carpet. Upon removing a bag of beach toys belonging to my grandchildren, I realized I had blotches of mold on the dry wall. My neighbor had had a leak about a month prior in our common wall. I had no pipes there in the area, so did not worry about it. Unbeknownst to me, the water from this leak had followed the slight grade of our slab floors and ended up in an area where I never would find it.. I was referred to Jarvis by a trusted handyman from the area. They immediately responded, addressed the issue and diagnosed the proper treatment for the mold. As this is a second home, Naturally this occurred when I had sold our primary home and was moving into a remodeled condominium in Pasadena. The distance was substantial enough where I could not be present daily. When I got down to review the project, it turned out they had invoiced me at the condo address. When I called to make payment arrangements, I had my hat in my hand as the invoices were now two weeks old.Laura Wagner, who handles payments for the company, was incredibly gracious and understanding. My company was contracted by Monarch Bay Villas Soils Engineer to work with the management company and their soils report and recommendation's, to correct a ground water condition. Upon my Inspection of the unit, the lower level was allowing ground water to enter through a sub-torrential retaining wall. I contacted Jarvis, as I was aware of there company by reputation. Jarvis arrived on site within an hour of my call. Ryan the head Tecnician and his professional crew arrived prepared to go to work. The response vehicle contained the most modern equipment to dry out the dwelling. Jarvis imediately moved in and carefully handled the furniture and belongings to create a work are to conduct the dry-out. After the wet material was removed Critical barriers were erected to control dust. The site was left immaculately clean. extra-large dehumidifiers were set up to deal with the encroaching water. The job was then ready for the engineering contractor dig out and expose the failing retaining wall. During the excavation water proofing and placement of the burrito drain and back fill Jarvis monitored the drying process. the equipment remained on the job and operational until the the groundwater source was eliminated. I am with UNITS Moving and Portable Storage, and we provide portable storage containers for all of Jarvis jobs. To begin, their entire team is amazing. I want to specifically write my review on Drew and their Accounts Payable Team Darlene Mullen! All jobs come in through Drew, as he is very detailed and responds very fast to all our questions and concerns. WE love working with him for all his jobs and we try our best to give him priority in all his emergency requests. Drew is clear in all his directions, is nice, kind, and overall a great partner to work with in the industry! As far as billing, our one and only person we deal with is Darlene Mullen. I have to say I work with over 100 accounts payable teams, and Darlene is my number one team. She is always organized, on top of it, and always always paying on time. I wish all the restorations companies had a Darlene in their team to take care of all invoicing and to make sure all accounts are paid and current. We work amazingly as a team and both her and I have come a long way to make sure all accounts are up to date and nothing behind. The water supply hose to the upstairs toilet suddenly burst at the plastic fitting, spewing water everywhere under high pressure. It took a while for us to notice, and by then, there was standing water in the bathroom and on the carpet of the master bedroom, which also leaked down the walls and even got the downstairs carpet wet. Casey from Jarvis came over to inspect and assess the damage and arrange to help us get everything cleaned up and put right. It turned out that we had old asbestos tiles under the carpet in the master bathroom, which required special handling. Casey expertly helped coordinate with the homeowner's insurance company and arranged for the asbestos to be properly disposed of as well as getting the carpet replaced. Casey was very attentive and proactive, checking in frequently and keeping us abreast of the progress and next steps, competently facilitating the entire process. The work is now complete. We have plush, high quality new carpet upstairs, the effected walls were painted and all labor was performed professionally and efficiently. We have been very impressed with Jarvis Restoration and Casey in particular, who made what would have been a very trying process much easier. I'll have to say 5 star treatment. I had a water burst in my town home. I was devastated! My insurance sent me out their restoration company prior to me obtaining Jarvis. I was able to compare. Initially the other company freaked me out and scared me. When I did the switch I got to deal with Drew from Jarvis who educated and explained everything to me. I was having difficulty with my insurance adjuster and he stepped me through the process every step of the way. Then towards the end of the 3 months, long negotiation with the insurance company, it was my pleasure to deal with Jarvis''s financial adviser Laura who was cheerful and encouraging. She continued the fight with the insurance company along side of Drew. I got pretty much what I wanted but still had to pay 30 percent of the bill as oppose to 60 Percent the insurance wanted. Lastly, and certainly not the least a very talented great mannered and compassionate, Carpenter/General Contractor by the name of Ezra came and reconstructed my dinning room and kitchen, Matching colors to my other cabinets almost perfectly less than a 1/2 to 1 shade. I would give 10 stars for this honest, punctual and savvy company!. I was recommended Jarvis by the plumbing company with a water leak late last year for restoration/drying. When they came for inspection, their technicians were honest and suggested that they would wait for another day to see the status before starting their job (cutting dry wall etc.) and let dry naturally. Next day they gave me a honest feedback that I wouldn't need their services. I have never such honest and Customer-centric fellows. In the beginning of this year we had another incident with a major water leak with the new toilet installed. I called Jarvis for help. They followed up and gave me a quick quote. They were able understand my situation of paying out of pocket. Giving a quote w/o cutting the dry wall is tough. However, Casey and his team were proactive with multiple visits and gave me confidence that they would clean the mess and put back the dry wall. They always considered what it means for new home owners paying out of pocket. They suggested to wait for few days before putting the dry wall to make sure the leak is fixed. We recently had a pipe burst on the first floor of our home which caused significant damage to our hardwood flooring. Bo Barnes was our project manager, and he was fantastic from start to finish. He handled the mitigation and complete rebuild of our guest room, including installing new hardwood flooring and baseboards, repairing the drywall, and painting. All of our belongings were carefully packed and stored while the work was being completed, and the workspace was tidied up at the end of each day. Once the restoration was complete, our home was thoroughly cleaned, and all of our items were carefully moved back into place. The entire team at Jarvis Restoration and their contractors provided excellent service. Shelby and the flooring contractor were especially helpful throughout the process, including assisting with communication and coordination with our insurance company to help ensure everything was completed properly. Jarvis Restoration made what could have been an extremely stressful situation go smoothly. We are so glad we chose them and couldn't be happier with the final results.
