Jasmine Garden R.I.P. because you are now dead to me! I used to really like this place and would have given it 4 stars but it has really gone down hill. My most recent $30 take-out order for my wife and I (which is not cheap and I work hard for $30) was a big disappointment: The Orange Chicken was dark brown and overcooked, probably from being re- heated too many times. The Spicey Salt & Pepper Pork Chops were not as good as usual. The House Chow Mein was skimpy in the meat (I didn't pay $8.45 for a bunch of noodles.......oh wait yes I did)! And to add insult to injury the lady who rang up my order was cold, bordering on rude. She definitely has no business working in any type of job that requires her to interact with people. Nothing super great about this place other than that if you're stuck at home, need delivery, and don't want pizza...you've got cheap Chinese food that gets delivered pretty quick. I ordered beef chow mein, cream cheese wontons, and egg rolls...egg rolls were the best part. Chow mein was a bit on the oily side but the beef in it was yummy. This is a little hidden gem, on the corner of Limonite & El Palomino behind KFC. Hard to find, but worth the trip. I've only ever been there for lunch, but have been there several times over the course of a couple of years, and the food has always been consistently good. I'd expect their dinners to be of the same quality. Note, we always eat there in the dining room, not off of the steam table or buffet or whatever goes on over there, so I can't vouch for that side of the house. The decor is like a Chinese diner, but don't let that scare you away. They even have a stack of magazines if you're there by yourself & want to read while you eat. That seems a little diner-ish to me, but that's ok. There's also a TV on the back wall if you're into that. I love Kung Pao chicken, especially when it's in sticky sauce, and this is the only place around town that I've been able to find it that way. Not only is it the sticky sauce, but really nicely seasoned too. So this is what I always order and it's ALWAYS delicious! Their lunch special is around $6 and comes with soup, 1 egg roll, 1 cream cheese wonton, and your entree (probably 20 or so to choose from) with a side of either steamed white or fried rice. The hot & sour soup is what I always get and it's always been tasty with lots of stuff in it. The egg roll & wonton are good too. But that Kung Pao chicken is what it's all about!! The fried rice that comes with the lunch is just that: fried rice. So don't expect veggies or any extras in there. There might be some egg & maybe some onion, but that's it. It's just there to complement that gooey, sticky, delicious Kung Pao anyway. Nicely spiced, not too hot, but they'd probably make it hotter if you asked. The lunch entree portions are pretty big too, and I usually end up sharing or bringing some home. The service has always been friendly & efficient. They can get pretty busy at lunch time though, so don't expect "hi, my name's Becky & I'll be your server" or anything like that. It's all pretty basic, but who cares? We been coming here for years, the food has always been good! But today the service was horrible, the hispanic older lady attended us, she did not refill our drinks, did not attended us at all. It was a party of 10, we ordered 8 dinner plates, 2 rice bowls and 1 soda. We did ask for a refill on out rice. We got charged without being informed .. for the extra rice bowls and extra sauce on our plates. Really, two small rice bowls is not gonna feed 8 adults!! The owner was a real jerk. The older lady even argued back with us.. and with a snobby attitude said "BTW, i usually charge 15% extra when its a party of 8 or more". This place has gone down hill. First, they no longer have the Chinese take out. You now order your food and they make it and charge you a lot more than what the combos use to cost. So we just started eating in the restaurant. That is where another problem exists. They only have one waitress. If it's slow that's not a problem, but if it isn't, she can't handle all the tables. We liked the place so we still continued to go hoping for the best possible service under the conditions. This last visit has now made me give this place 1 star and I will not be returning. To start, the waitress seemed a little irritated. We placed our order for our food and drinks with no problem. She brought out our soup, and it was not what we ordered. I told her this and she started arguing with me saying it is what I ordered and they already made it. My friend told her, "No, they ordered Egg flower because I told you I didn't want any because I'm allergic to egg." She says, "What do you want me to do?" That's when I said I would like what I ordered. (Now I'm leering of even eating it) Next, our food comes and we start to serve the kids their plates. My 11 year old starts to eat his food and bites something hard. It's a piece of glass! My husband goes up to the waitress and shows her and she say's, "What do you want me to do?" What was it in? It was in the BBQ pork rice. The owner comes out and apologizes and asks if we want another one. When we try to tell him all the problems that we had from the time we got there he talks over us like he doesn't want to hear it. The friend got chicken chow mein which was nothing above average. My Tea cup was not clean. This is pretty much the closest Asian restaurant to me, and I'm still pretty new to the area so I went in with high hopes that it would become a new regular spot for me. I was unfortunately, so wrong because one after the other, dishes came out just the minimal "meh". We ordered the Family Dinner C, $12.97/person .. comes with: -- the Pu-Pu Appetizer (this was actually the most decent part of the whole meal .. but it was simply veggie eggrolls (that I didn't like), cream cheese wontons, some foil chicken thing, and some beef on a stick with a flame in the middle), -- your choice of steamed rice or fried rice (which was basically rice cooked with soy sauce and very tiny pieces of carrots) , -- seafood soup (that was super bland), -- and your choice of the items listed in the section ... we chose to substitute an item for a lesser valued item because I wanted the Mongolian beef (which is listed in dinner B-- this is how I usually judge a Chinese restaurant because Mongolian beef is super basic to make -- and this place failed so badly at it, was almost inedible and that's coming from someone that eats pretty much anything and everything) and shrimp in lobster sauce (I tasted no lobster sauce, in fact, this taste the same as the bland seafood soup only with some shrimp) Not only was food just "meh", service was also "meh". Waitress, although were friendly, weren't very attentive but I think that's because they were all over the place doing a million things (I even saw our waitress in the back washing dishes, then coming out to take orders and bringing out orders, so I don't blame her for the slow service, hence why I gave the 2 star rating). The ambiance was out-dated like a greasy old Chinese restaurant from the 80s, it had weird colored floors, with old seat benches that wobbled throughout the entire meal, and it was very dimly lit in there. Also, connected to the restaurant is their little to-go spot which was very confusing to me when I was trying to find the entrance to the restaurant itself. They served a few of the same items on the menu but just premade and sitting under a heat lamp. I should have looked closer at the items before actually sitting inside the restaurant because on my way out I glanced at the food and it looked exactly the same as what I ordered and just as unappetizing. I ordered Honey walnut shrimp and brown rice to go. The shrimp were stale. The sauce wasn't very good either. I personally know how to make this dish but I was too hungry and lazy to go through the process of making it myself, so I know that it's not complicated to get a proper balance of mayo, condensed milk, and honey. Good deals on take out specials, and I like that they serve pho to, although I'd say it's a little too salty, but considering it's not a viet place I'll give them a pass. Service is mediocre st best. Regardless of the take out option, the food itself is decent at best. They want to charge 7.99 and up on mediocre food. I was little ticked off with the fact that it had a 3 star. So I decided to give it a try since I was in the area. I ordered their pho beef soup. I had it delivered to my home. The first thing I noticed the rice noodles came packaged in a square box. Once I dumped the noodles in the bowl of soup it stayed square and stiff for a while. 03/02/2014 Went in for a hot meal, at 7:30pm. It was reheated from lunch. Noodles were stuck together, like cold spaghetti, sent back. Are won tons in soup, supposed to be brown? Added bonus was the cold mushroom chicken! I tried to talk to the manager, he insisted I pay, for the appetizers. $4.84, 1 fried won ton, two bites of resent chow mein, and a fried roll. DO NOT GO HERE! I called them to make a take out order, and the lady who answered the phone put me on hold. Only she didn't put the phone on hold, she just set it down. So I could here everything going on in the background. I listened as she proceeded to help SEVERAL walk in customers. Now I understand if you have a customer in front of you as I call, I'll need to wait, not a problem. But after she took care of that customer, she proceeded to take the next customer, leaving me there to listen. And if that wasn't enough, she proceeded to help the customer after that.
