Right by the courthouse, this is my go to place when I am in New Haven for work. Their fried rice dishes are super cheap and give you enough food for two meals. It is way higher quality than the usual food truck food. Cheers, Edward

A small, but mighty food truck located on Church St. Great food for cheap! Would highly recommend if you're in the area and need a quick bite.

They still get points from me for having hot, fresh, inexpensive food, as well as friendly service. However, their drunken noodles are completely disappointing! I am a drunken noodle connoisseur and theirs are the most bland and flavorless that I've ever had. Sad face. Each time I order it, I remember why I should have gone for something else off their menu. I won't write them off just yet, but instead, go for something else off their menu in hopes of a better outcome.

30 mins in line and 5$ later, I secured pad thai. I ate some before this picture, the portions are huge.

Edit: This was the cart on 333 Cedar, outside the hospital. A wonderful surprise awaited me when both lunchbox 23 and Lean's pho cart where missing during spring break week in 2016. What I had assumed would be a complete disaster was instead saved by this little family run cart and boy was it good. You've got to get the chicken pad thai, or as they list it on the menu, pad Thai noodes and grilled chicken please. It's quite lovely and the flavors from the grill are out of this world. Skip drunken noodles and just go for the real deal here, the line is around the block for them and ordering something else just slows everyone down. What secured the five star for me was the nicest service possible, they gave us extra and desert for free because the line was well over 30mins of waiting, while the Thai cart next to it had no line. Now I see why everyone stuck to this one. Way to go, I hope this review brings more business to this wonderful little cart.

Lunch in the car. It was very good.

PERFECT for lunch: Super fast, good and cheap! I love their grilled chicken and pineapple rice. The owners are friendly.

The place had a really nice and chill vibe, really nice decor and a great spot for a somewhat nice lunch. They were serving their lunch menu and I ended up getting the mussels pad Thai, and a chicken curry puff appetizer and a Thai tea. The Thai tea was solid, and the chicken curry puffs were very good. But the stand out was the pad Thai. I've never had a creamy pad Thai and this was amazing. So flavorful. I didn't know what to expect with the mussels but I loved the mussels in the shell and it added a great flavor to the dish! I will definitely be coming back again to order this, and try some of their other items!

Disappointing. 2/10 Thai Iced Tea: extremely sweet and too much cream. 2/10 Crab Fried Rice: a dish they are known for. They don't skimp on the crab or egg. The rice is made with butterfly pea tea to color it blue. That was fun. It was a wok-y flavor and overall solid. Something that was concerning, was that the cilantro lime sauce helped the fried rice A TON. and I think that if you can't eat something without a sauce then it's kinda a sign that it's not the best... for $28, I would not get it again. This was the only dish we ate. 7/10 Tom Yum Shrimp: the entree size had peanuts but the appetizer didn't. Weird. This was by far, the WORST tom yum i have ever tasted in my life. It was sweet. No sour from the tamarind. No tomato flavor. No lime. Only sweet. What in the world????? 0/10 Drunk Man Noodles: no flavor except spicy. Missing MSG, wok flavor, soy sauce, sugar, literally anything. Still edible but we barely touched it. 2/10

Shhh, don't tell anyone!…read more But also tell everyone you know! Let it Be is a chic, cozy little hole in the wall spot on Dixwell which although you can easily miss, you won't want to because it's a legend of a Thai restaurant. AMBIANCE - 8/10 When you walk inside, you're greeted by a familiar friendly smile (? one of the owners) before being seated amongst brightly colorful interior decor. They play relaxing Thai classics and sometimes switch it up with familiar and vibey pop songs. It's a small space, but is never overcrowded, and there's conveniently plenty of parking in the back. FOOD - 9/10 The food here is incredible. I've tried multiple Thai places in and around the New Haven/Hamden area and Let it Be has got them all beat. Not only are the flavors authentic and high quality, but prices are fair and the dishes are well-portioned. Best of all, they're made with so much heart. Every bite has felt like a journey back home to South East Asia. SERVICE - 9/10 The service here has been phenomenal. Our friendly server is welcoming, prompt, and responsive to our needs. When a dish we asked for wasn't available, he took the time to find similar dishes for us. He also takes the time to make friendly conversation and share with us the history of some of the special dishes. Visits here always just feel like a pitstop at a friendly neighbor's. The only thing is that it can take a bit of time for the food to come out, which is natural as the dishes are likely made to order. OVERALL - 9/10 From the Thai staples (pad thai, red and green curries) to the more avant garde (larb kai but in a bánh mì / hoagie style sandwich?! woah!), this place does it all the right way. If you couldn't tell by now, this is my absolute favorite Thai place and I could not recommend it enough. Ally's Recs: Pad Thai (8/10) - cannot go wrong with a classic Pad See Ewe (9/10) - another classic! tastes great with a squeeze of lime Let it Be Thai Curry (9/10) - delicious house curry; they combo the curries well to create a creamy sweet and savory mixture that always leaves you wanting more Thai Tea (8/10) - if you're down for a treat, the condensed milk hits every time! Longan Juice / Tea (7/10) - refreshing and comes with a bunch of juicy longans on top. such a unique offering!

Hopefully they're doing a big takeout business because we were the only ones inside for dinner. Granted it was 8:30pm, but they are open until midnight. They were accommodating by turning the heat up on this chilly night. They also put on current Thai music for us after we asked about the American music being played. They offered my wife a syrupy lychee drink on the house to take care of the extra heat that she wasn't expecting. They put a bit of a different spin on their version of some popular dishes so don't be mad if it's not what you get at other Thai restaurants. Check out our pics. It was all excellent!

My partner and I went in person for the first time recently, and while we thought the exterior + dining room were unassuming/basic, the food continues to be phenomenal! We ordered the tom yum soup, som tum, pla sam rod with salmon and the duck choo chee. The tom yum soup was one of the best I've had - tangy, spicy and not overly sweet. The som tum unfortunately was sweeter and had less fish sauce and garlic than I would've liked, but the veggies and papaya were super fresh. The salmon pla sam rod and duck choo chee were both fantastic! The pla sam rod sauce was a great balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The salmon and basil were fried perfectly and held up well to the sauce. The duck was also fried perfectly and stayed crispy despite the red curry + coconut milk that coated it. The veggies were also very fresh and kept the dish light. We loved the flavors and textures of the duck choo chee - the red curry was very aromatic and lemongrassy, and the coconut milk added some creaminess. So far, I have only been impressed by the quality of the food and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!!

What was not good was the notable discrepancy in price on the website versus the actual prices. So, this review is a PSA because Thai Spice really needs to rectify this immediately and get all of its sites updated. At the time of our order two weeks ago (and at the time that I am writing this review), the website https://thaispiceauthentic.com/ and the PDF menu hyperlink on that website (and the Order Now hyperlinks on the site) all reflect outdated prices. If you access the business via the https://www.yumdthaicuisine.com/ site (immediately confusing because this does not appear to be the current restaurant name, and the sign outside the restaurant says Thai Spice) or if you Google the restaurant and access the Toast site to order, you will get the current, actual prices. But these are way too many variables for a customer to reasonably navigate or to know what is accurate. We ordered the following: - Thai Sampler - We expected to pay $14.96/99 (two prices, one on the PDF and one via the Order Now link); the actual current price is an astounding $22.50 ($15 was a good deal, we thought; $22.50 is not--not for what you get) - Chicken Pad Thai - We expected to pay $13.96/99; the actual price is $14.95 - Yellow Curry - $13.96/99; actual price, $14.95 - Sticky Rice - $3.00; actual price, $4.00 A difference of over $10. Not great.
