Concerning Dr. Jason Kim, pain doctor of Issaquah WA. I have seen him for about one year for severe back pain issues. I have been very pleased with his quality of care until today. I had an appointment for a follow up for pain medication on Friday October 14th, but I was having electrolysis done which time went over. I was also starting to get very wore down and sick and was concerned about driving two hours round trip to see him and back to where I was pet sitting. I asked to come in Monday today instead October 17th. On Thursday morning October 13th I saw a family doctor and he said I had a bad virus. Later on the weekend this became worse. I called to cancel my appt. with Dr. Kim and see if I could come in later as I need to rest all week to knock this. I was concerned regarding driving with vertigo and feeling so ill for fear or causing harm to others or myself driving. His assistant called back and informed me he would no longer treat me for pain management. Even though I have never been late or missed another appt. in a year and a half or so. I drove from North Bend to Issaquah so that I would not miss the appt. and he refused to see me. His assistant told me that he had already filled the spot which I either did not hear this or he did not tell me this. So let's recap, my insurance does not pay much which I hate so he does not make a huge profit off of me. However I am finishing a degree and plan to work and have good health insurance within one year so he would benefit from this at that time and it's only fair that he have enough to cover his costs. I believe this is not the issue, I believe the issue is that he does not approve of my seeking alternative health care for my low back sprain that occurred March of this year. I have tried everything including seeing him and had used up my allowed pain shots. I finally started seeing a chiropractor several hours away who is using K-laser treatments and a low back traction machine which is helping. I believe Dr. Kim is unhappy that I am seeking an alternative form of treatment that does not require using as many pain pills as I have been using which As long as I wear the brace that I received from the chiropractor this also helps my low back sprain. At any rate I was not even offered the chance to pay for the miss visits with my credit card which I would have done as it's not fair for his office to lose money due to my being sick. However I also feel though that if someone has a legit medical reason they cannot make another medical appt. then this should be understood and excused. I believe this issue is an ethical one for which Dr. Kim by having a bad day has made a mistake. I have no proof that he no longer wishes to see me due to my alternative form of pain management or therapy from the chiropractors office but I believe that my missing two appointments based on medical need is an excuse on his part. I do not recommend for readers of yelp to see Dr Jason Kim of Issaquah even if your doctor refers you to him. I still need some pain medication when I am not able to drive over the mountains especially in the winter for laser treatments. Dr. Kim took all the time needed to answer all of my questions and be sure I was comfortable with everything at my consultation before proceeding with any procedures. He was very down to earth, extremely compassionate, and very understanding. After 6 months of physical therapy, a terrible experience with a physiatrist that had the worst bedside manner in the world, and 18-months of the worst pain of my life, I finally found Dr. Kim. Although the steriod epidural injections didn't cure me, I went in with an honest and reasonable outlook thanks to his honesty and knowledge. I felt very prepared when the time came for surgery thanks to him. After my surgery with a doctor at Proliance I actually had a 1 in 100,000 chance complication that resulted in a spinal fluid leak. I had incredible migraine like headaches that subsided when lying down, chills, and nausea. When I called my surgeon their medical assistant blew me off and they asked me to see a GP. The GP told me I was just having drug withdrawls and denied a spinal fluid leak. At this point I felt helpless as my pain continued, I was unable to stand up let alone work, and no doctor seemed to want to help. I called Dr. Kim's office and although at this point I was my surgeon's responsibility, Dr. Kim immediately got on the phone and he knew that I did indeed have a spinal fluid leak, instructed me to drink fluids, caffeine, and stay lying flat all day. Right away after doing this my symptoms were completely gone! He gave me encouragement to make my surgeon's office recheck me and finally I was admitted for a second surgery to repair the spinal fluid (CSF) leak. I am SO grateful that Dr. Kim was there to help with his knowledge and compassion. Not only did he spare me much more suffering he has restored my faith in doctors! read more

Attn!!! Do not go to this Dr. JASON KIM he is a liar!!! He told me he could fix my pain if I let him give me a injection.infact he promised me it would work and I would never have to take pain medication again. It's was the worst injection I have ever had on my life. I was steaming and cussing it wasn't just a shot he kept putting something sharp in my lower right side of my back lasted about 15 minutes what ever he did to me I believe he was pushing on a nerve. When I was crying he called me a baby. When it was done I told him I would never have that injection done again he then said I didn't work anyways because I was still in pain. First of all I forgot to mention when I first called there office I was told by my insurance there office was in federal way. The receptionist told me it was in Issaquah, they were moving to Puyallup, that they had least a place , moving there in September, which has not happened as of today. I went back two weeks later in more pain then what I was in before I had injection. Dr. Kim acted Pissed towards me because the injection didn't work. He gave me referral for MRI. I then went back to see him reluctantly as I didn't know what kind of mood he would be in, because the first time I went there he was really goofy acting, almost comical second time I seen him he was totally a jerk! I was stuck going there because Seattle Pain center was closed and all other pain clinics were full. I go back the third and last time to get MRI results. He come in the room and says to me, guess what your back it fried, I'm going to have to give you another injection. I then said no! He said I'd have to find another Doctor I then said to him you lied to me, you promised me the injection would work he then said to me, now I have your MRI results I know exactly where to inject you ( he should have known where it was before he injected me the first time) I didn't think to say that to him at the time because I was so angry. I told him he made me worse I would never let him do that to me again. I also brought up the issue of why they say they were moving to Puyallup. I walk out of office and went to my car and cried. Weeks later I get info from insurance he actually billed my insurance company for that visit, that I was only there for maybe two minutes. Those injection are 630.00 . Another thing I don't believe the reviews on his website are true. I hope the the nurse that was in the room with me will come forward and say what she witnessed him promise me. I believe that Dr. Kim did something wrong and made permanent damage to me. It's really scarry that a Doctor can make you have horribly painful injections. read more

Back in June, I made an appointment for a cortisone injection in my back. Prior to my appointment, I gave them my insurance information and they said nothing regarding my insurance provider at the time. I went in for my appointment, paid my $55 co-payment, and was in and out within 5 minutes. Little did I know, the appointment wasn't actually for my injection - it was a "new office visit". Basically, a 5 minute consultation with Dr. Kim. He didn't even touch my back or evaluate me very well. Over half the time I was in his office, he just kept shaking his head and rolling his eyes that I had Molina insurance and they likely weren't going to cover the injection. Afterwards, I made a follow-up appointment for the actual injection, but ended up cancelling it instead - last minute (thankfully I did). Two months go by, and I get a bill in the mail for $218. This was owed even after I paid my $55 co-payment for my 5 minute appointment. Turns out - they didn't accept my insurance in the first place. They should have told this to me BEFORE I went in for a single appointment, but they didn't. They had no issues making my appointment or taking my co-payment, but they never told me that my insurance was flat-out not accepted by the clinic. Additionally, Dr. Kim seemed arrogant and in a hurry when I was there. Definitely not a place I will ever be back, nor recommend to anyone. Stay away - they'll take your co-payment (no matter what insurance you have) and bill you out the a$$ when they get the chance. What a waste of time and money! read more

Dealing with Dr. Kim and his office has been awful. For an office that specializes in pain management, they go out of their way to provide added stress and confusion. My spouse and I were both referred there only to be turned away because they 'didn't like who the auto claim was going through' - and then wouldn't accept my private insurance even though they are listed as a preferred and contracted provider. Yet they accepted my wife and her private insurance; I also offered to pay out of pocket (so we could get treatment at the same place) and they said 'we are not willing to help you.' Awesome right? They inadequately performed the procedure, causing her even more pain. We still fail to realize how a professional in the field can screw up so badly on relatively simple procedure. Needless to say we found several other doctors in the area and ended up at one that was not only more competent in their practice, but also one that cared about both of our overall help, assisting us with care and dealing with the insurance. Avoid Dr. Kim and his extremely rude staff if referred. Save yourself a lot of time and pain and just ask for a different referral. read more

Was referred to Dr. Kim for injections in my spine by my MD who was treating me for injuries sustained in an auto accident. Made appointment through kind, courteous, and professional staff. Met Dr. Kim and began to go over my medical history, injuries sustained, doctors I had seen, exam procedures done, etc. Right from the start he was aggressive, correcting me, challenging me on what previous doctors had done, my understanding of their diagnose and of the exam techniques/findings, diagnoses and even their "actual" expertise. With a condescending attitude he lectured/corrected me on so many items. I told him I was relying on my referring doctor's files/reports to inform him of my condition because he said he would fax them over to Dr. Kim. He told me "in the future you should know these things yourself to be able to tell a doctor". Even if he were correct, his attitude and manners were rude and totally unprofessional. I said I didn't understand why he felt he needed to challenge and correct me on everything. He replied that he was no arguing, so I should let him finish telling me why I should, not only know those things but know why I should. I said that I was very close to just ending the conversation and walking out. He replied, "Go ahead!" Before leaving his office I told him I think he flunked the bedside manners class in med school. I then drove directly to my referring doctor, told his receptionist about the encounter and asked them to make another referral.
