We had such a great experience working with Ali and her team for our wedding. From the very beginning, tasting, planning calls, to the onsite walkthrough, everything felt smooth and easy. Even with last-minute changes, Ali was super accommodating and a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. The food was absolutely amazing. After the tasting, my wife and I kept hoping the food on the day would be just as good--and honestly, we think it was even better. Adriana is simply the best. We are so glad we went with Jason's catering for our big day. When my friend had her wedding at the same venue 7 years ago at the Nixon library, the one vendor that she couldn't stop raving about was Adriana from Jason's and now we truly experienced why. She is upbeat, personable, and knows her sh*t so well. At times, I felt like she owned the Nixon library because she knew exactly who everyone was and when they were working, and where all of the tables, layout, linens, literally everything were. When we did the walk-through, the Nixon representative was far from helpful and if it wasn't for Adriana, we wouldn't have been able to figure anything out. Adriana is patient and creative. She said yes to (almost) every single request that we had and when she couldn't do it (we were a little unreasonable), she did her best to try to accommodate that aspect into the food. She brought my signature drinks to life and added sea urchin to the menu where I knew it wasn't something they've done before. I loved working with her and the team. In summary, their attention to detail, their creativity, their patience, their staff, their drinks and their food far exceeded our expectations and without a doubt, I know you'd feel the same if you booked with Adriana from Jason's.. All in all, the value of having Jason's to be our caterer far exceeded the cost. Just went for our tasting at Jason's catering this past weekend and for the first time I was able to share it with my parents AND 2 of my bridesmaids/foddies/fellow yelpers/high school friends. :D I really wanted them to be a part of the process since their opinion means a lot to me. My contact was Ali, who at first I didn't hear back from in awhile, and then it got a little better. I only mention this because I'm looking for a company that will get back to you at least within a few business days. The tasting room in located in Downtown Santa Ana in the Santora Artist Building on the Second Floor. There's metered parking all over or you can park in the structure on 3rd and Broadway (they do validate). The setup in the tasting room is like a cute little restaurant. Several tastings were going on. But of course we were seated right away and started off with their strawberry agua fresca. Appetizers: Mini nachos - Just okay, and really tiny. Shrimp scampi skewers - Good, but really small shrimp. Ka ta tong - So-so chicken curry, again small. Skirt steak crostini - Good! And a good size. Kalbi beef skewers - I liked it. But it was split among our group. Chicken tamales - Mines was okay, but the rest of my party felt it was dry and too much masa. Bruschetta di pompadoro - LOVE. Ahi sashimi tartar - No thanks. Not a fan. Watermelon and feta on a spoon - Not for us. Ono ceviche - No. Salads: California - No thank you. Mandarin - Good! Compressed? - Good. Cesar - Normal. Good if you like Cesar, but it's not for me. Entrees: Chicken milanese - Good. Braised short rib - So-so, but a negative from everyone else. Roasted chicken - Nom! Basa fish - Yum. Fiance would of liked it without the cilantro sauce. Chicken saltimbocca - Yay! Good too. Filet mignon - Super chewy. Did not like. Sides: Good, but nothing to rave about. It's all about the mains! Dessert: Tuxedo cake - Delish! I think everyone licked their plates clean. Overall it was a fun afternoon with the ones I love and the food was good/okay. Surprised we loved all their chicken dishes, but wasn't too pleased on the beef mains. We want beef as an option at our wedding. I think that the real test of a company is when a mistake is made and what the company does about it. In our case, we held a backyard event for ten people, and a critical mistake was made with respect to one of the two main menu items. It was not discovered until after the food was dropped off by Jason to our home. In this particular case, Jason offered a total refund of the amount billed. Although we did not get the food that was ordered, what we did receive was 5-star plus. My wife even suggested that it was Cordon-Blieu quality. I definitely would use Jason again, despite their error. It is nice to know a company that is willing to own up to its mistakes. Not many companies will. read more

The food was delicious. I've been to my share of weddings and often the food is dry and overcooked. Jason's surpassed my expectations. For my summer wedding of 150 people, we chose to have a plated duet entree. The lemon chicken and short ribs (we asked for extra sauce for the short ribs and it was perfect). We did garlic mashed potatoes and the veggie skewer and they were both great. The mandarin salad was so good. We were told that not many people choose this salad and I cant imagine why it was the perfect start to a perfect meal. For appetizers we chose the spanikopta (spinich puff pastry), shrimp cocktail, ramaki (bacon wrapped plantains), and bastila. The bastila was good but didn't quite stand up to the rest (for my tastes). I received complements of everything except the bastila (no one said it was bad, it just wasn't as memorable as the others). The staff was excellent. I was receiving complements all night about how friendly and polite everyone was. We did not do any preset cocktails and the bartenders were still quick and able to remember everyone's drink orders all night long. They smiled all night and those are the small things that my guest and I noticed. 5/5 stars from start to finish! read more

My event coordinator is Ali, she is the BEST there is!!! Not joking... I feel like she can plan and prepare our events blind folded and with her hands tied. I trust her opinions and experience completely. She is kind, punctual, professional and I love her! The entire Jason's crew is fantastic. They always have the most kind and professional staff, everyone knows what they are doing, and always have successful events with them. Adriana is the sweetest and best! I initially had reservations about wedding "catering". After attending weddings with food trays and buffet style service, I didn't have high expectations. Boy was I wrong, Jason's was the first and only vendor we tried. We knew before we left that we had a decision made. While trying all the delicious appetizers Adri explained all the different options for our special day. The planning process was so easy and we were never pressured into making any decisions. Up until the last month we were able to keep her updated with attendees as well as changing the menu. The only hard decision was choosing between all the delicious appetizers/entrees/desserts, everything we tried was amazing. The DUO entrée was also well received by our guests, the best of both worlds. They are also very accommodating if someone prefers no seafood or catering to vegan/vegetarian options. When she tells you she will follow you around with food, SHE'S NOT LYING. Right after the ceremony we were greeted with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. It was amazing to say the least. This also continued throughout the night with our signature cocktails or multiple entrée plates because my bride would leave the table and her food would get cold. They are a preferred vendor of the Nixon and for good reason. Jason's worked seamlessly together with the venue and transformed the ballroom into something truly amazing. We received so many compliments about the food and service. Our friends & family were all pleasantly surprised and said it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. When I walked in there was some kind of a private event going on in the bar area, which I thought was a bad idea--it kind of made things a little chaotic and confusing. I was early so I decided to wait for my friend at the bar. I ordered a tanqueray & tonic while killing time. I liked my drink, which had a nice balance of alcohol and tonic water. I'm not in the camp of strong drinks automatically being good ones. Plus it was happy hour, which meant it was only $4--bonus. When my friend arrived, we kind of had to hunt down the hostess and let her know we had reservations. She was apologetic about the chaos and seated us right away. We were super-early so the dinner crowd wasn't there yet, which was kind of a blessing because the place is nothing but hard surfaces, making all the sounds echo. The ambiance is very "artsy," with paintings and sculptures everywhere--not all of it totally successful, but if they patronize the artists in the area that's great. If you looked up "form over function" I believe you'd find a picture of their funky-ass bathroom fixture in there, which took my friend and me a few minutes to figure out. Anyhoo, on to the food: we decided to start off with the trio of mediterranean spreads, which was "Hummus, Eggplant Caponata & Goat Cheese Lebneh w/ Pita Bread"--very good. The only downside was that the pita bread got hard pretty fast as it cooled, so you have to eat this in a timely manner. I got their penne al fresca with seared salmon, and my friend got the Caribbean crepes. Their presentation wasn't the greatest (see my pic of the penne al fresca dish with the parmesan garlic toast looking like "wings" on the plate), but they were well executed--full of fresh ingredients and good flavor. The portions were also generous, so we both had some good leftovers to take home. We decided on the warm chocolate lava cake to finish things off, and it was very very good. Overall, the food and service was great (nearly a 4), but for a place charging rather high prices the ambiance and poor planning of putting that event in the bar right by the front door getting in people's way were misses for me and knocked off a star. I don't know if I'd be hankering to go back on my own, but if someone wanted to check it out or was having an event there I'd gladly go. Adri and her team were good to work with. She really sought to understand our vision for the wedding and was flexible to give us what we wanted-customized menu, different selections at the bar. She remained flexible despite a fluctuating guest list and COVID concerns. I appreciated Adri's cool and calm nature that made a stressful process much easier. Adri worked with us to provide solutions to problems that COVID caused. However, on the day of, we had a few mishaps. The tray passed appetizers did not make it to every guest. My husband and I received a dinner that was cold. The salad was missing the nuts we selected. The service for the wine at the table was excellent and our guests loved the bartenders. We had Jason's cater our wedding at the San Clemente mansion 2 weeks ago. They were the caterer contracted with our venue VIP mansion. I have to say (and my guests say so too), that the food was the best ever!! From start to finish, the food was super delicious and cooked to perfection! On a crazy day such as a wedding, I did not have ANY issues with Jason's. They arrived on time, were very professional, and made sure all our guests were happy. One of the servers even came by the bridal suite to make sure the wedding party was eating and drinking too! In terms of the tasting, we were very pleased with our experience. They have a nice, romantic set up in Downtown Santa Ana. They usually have a few tasting going on at the same time so make sure you book ahead of time. They included tasting for a variety of drinks, appetizers, entrees and sides. They are very organized and give you a folder to take notes as you try the food. The servers are prompt and professional as well. I made a ton of changes to the menu and they were very accommodating. Jason's Catering worked closely with us and delivered exceptional food at our wedding! We were adamant about not having "typical wedding food" at our wedding. From appetizers to entrees and dessert we wanted only very high end, restaurant quality food. This required expanding options and an additional tasting. There were some difficulties at first but Adriana worked closely with us and our wedding planner to overcome the challenges and meet our expectations. We are very selective about our food choices and Adriana and Jason were responsive and flexible. There was a particular entree we wanted that required Jason to contact a chef in an other state to get the recipe to replicate it exactly. Adriana and Jason worked with the chef to get us exactly what we wanted and they nailed it! The entree was exceptional in taste and quality, and they even made sure the presentation was perfect. The appetizers were great and flambe dessert was delicious and a show stopper. Our guests raved about the food at our wedding and are still talking about it. they're a new place - decor is really nice, esp the sink in the bathroom. The food was ok. We had: calamari (but this was not breaded and fried), candied walnut/apple/gargonzola/spinach salad (like the waldorf salad at CPK), jerk chicken (with the skin on, dark meat *yum) which was good but the rice was hard and seemed recooked. A nice touch was that the bread came warm and crunchy. String beans were a bit oily, would have preferred a steamed or lightly baked one with sprinkle of spices. Our service was friendly and above par (she was friendly, informative, and pretty). unfort, my date had a reaction 12 hrs after dinner so we think it was the food here - but we're of course not *sure.* Might still give this place another shot. Agree with last reviewer that wines were over-priced (the wine list does not have wine year), though right now they have happy hour: 50% off appetizers and all drinks before 7pm. Anyway, between them and a good 15 minute wait after we were done, searching for our server, I couldn't do it. DH had the prime rib, which was pretty good, but really Ruth's Chris has pretty much ruined steak for me anywhere else. I had a really good mojito (they were on 'special' for the weekend) and a unique salad with feta, blueberries, watermelon and sunflower seeds. Very tasty and summer-y. Dessert was the chocolate pyramid, which I must warn you, is much smaller than i anticipated. However, it too was yummy. Thanks for the tips on using the restaurant.com GC's! I would've been even more annoyed if we hadn't had them. A friend invited us to join her group for dinner and Jazz at Jason's Downtown, a friend was playing in the Jazz Band. We started outside on the patio, great little spot. I ordered the Funky Monkey Martini....YUM!!! Once the entire group showed up we moved inside and were promptly seated at our table. Loved the ambiance, very chic yet cozy. The food was fabulous, opted for the Newcal Latin Rice Bowl and left it vegetarian, it was perfect. The jazz band, Subliminal Messages was extremely good, and not to loud that we couldn't visit. My only disappointment, they were not serving the Red Velvet Cake for dessert, oh well, better for the diet. I would most definitely head to Jason's Downtown again. read more

I had a really bad experience here and would not go back. I went on a Thursday night and I went here off a recommendation from a friend. The place was pretty dead except for a rowdy group at the bar area. The service was slow. And our server had a bad case of B.O. which made my experience very displeasing. The food was not up to par. My Ceasar was something I could make better at home. The greens were soggy, the dressing very normal. The only good thing were the croutons. I ordered the Flank Steak. The meat was tasty, but the rice had too many flavors in it. And to my dismay, I found a BELL PEPPER STICKER in my rice. It totally grossed me out and I immediately told the waiter. He comped the dish but it was too late to salvage the dinner. My aunt who accompanied me ordered the Tomato Soup and the Ahi Tuna. My son just got married on Halloween and with very high recommendations we hired Jason's for catering our event. They were Fantastic!! From the minute they came until they left, every person on staff was attentive, friendly to every guest and very professional. They even used my kitchen and when they left I couldn't even tell they were there! Ali was our coordinator for the night and boy she was absolutely on top of everything and if there were any problems or glitches that night, I had no clue. We even had a few problems with the quality of our glassware and silverware, from a different vendor, not being up to Jason's standards, so she called her people brought what we needed and fixed the problem! Also, from our cocktail hors d'oeuvres to the appetizers, salad and dinner it was all delicious beautifully plated and our main course was hot!! That doesn't happen at many weddings. Out of our 100 guests there was not 1 complaint about the food. Adrianna and her team were the perfect choice for our Nixon Library wedding. From the delicious hors d'oeuvre's, to our meal, bar and finally our late night tacos everything was a hit! As the groom, I wasn't that invested in finding our caterer, you go in and sample the food, if its good then that's what you serve at your wedding. Adrianna and her team showed me just how wrong I was. Yes the food was excellent and we received many compliments, but it was so much more than that. Adrianna helped us with design, and even worked with our florist and coordinator to make sure everything came together. On our big day when we walked out of the ceremony the team was right there drinks in hand so our whole bridal party could toast immediately. During our cocktail hour we were off taking advantage of an awesome sunset with our photographers but Adrianna sent her team out with mini-trays of all of our appetizers to make sure we didn't miss a thing. Food, Desserts, and drinks were always at our sweetheart table waiting for us at the perfect time, She even went as far as to save us some food and dessert to take home at the end of the day. We tried the Grab & Go Order from Jason's Catered Events for the first time last weekend. All of the food was delicious!! My husband LOVED the marinated mushrooms in the antipasto plate. We also loved the Mandarin Spinach salad. The honey mustard dressing was perfect. Not too sweet, not too tart. Just right! The Roasted Chicken was cooked perfectly; moist and delicious. Paired with the pasta -- YUM! I always love asparagus. The Braised Short Rib Filet was the best; tender and flavorful, didn't even need a knife. And that sauce ... oh yeah !! Super yummy mashed potatoes and squash. (I will definitely be ordering that again.) We finally enjoyed the Panna Cotta dessert about an hour after eating dinner. We were so stuffed from all the other food. It's a great idea, the Grab & Go. It was our "night out". We will be doing this again. Looking forward to trying the steak and salmon. Sure, I'd seen the good reviews on Yelp for Jason's Downtown, but there's nothing like a $25 gift certificate purchased for $2 to get me motivated to try a new place. And you can even make a reservation on opentable.com! Jason's Downtown was easy to find, and I used the free parking in the structure around the corner. Since it was a little chilly, the outside tables weren't being used. The bar was pretty crowded for happy hour, but the restaurant only had a few patrons, even when we left around 8 pm. Happy Hour prices go until 7 pm and are good for half-off drinks and appetizers. I started with a mojito which I very much enjoyed, and my friend and I shared the Trio of Mediterranean spreads. I particularly enjoyed the hummus. The appetizer was pretty big for two people. We were also brought warm rolls and butter. For my entree, I had to try the Caribbean Crepes, since it seemed to be the popular choice on Yelp. The dish was very flavorful and a generous portion. It came with three crepes filled with cooked ahi and shrimp and mixed steamed vegetables on a bed of yellow rice with cashews and currants. For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake, which was the special of the night. It looked like a mini bundt cake filled with warm chocolate and surrounded by fresh berries and raspberry sauce. It was very rich and perfect for sharing. After the $25 restaurant.com gift certificate and the half-off drink and appetizer Happy Hour prices, the total bill for two before tip came to $28! Of course we remembered to tip on the amount before the $25 off, so my friend and I got a three course meal for $20 each with tip. What a deal! Without the gift certificate, Jason's Downtown might be a little pricey for my taste, but I would certainly come back again, especially for the Happy Hour. A solid 3.75, came here for a double date with a $50 restaurant.com certificate I purchased for $8 (with minimum purchase of $100). Got one of the last empty tables when we arrived at 8:15. Food roundup: Appetizers: Calimari and rumaki. Calamari was sauteed with onions and peppers swimming in a ton of this yummy sauce that was cross between Mediterranean type and curry like flavor. The rumaki is bananas wrapped in bacon on top of some greens. This reminded me of Lola's bacon wrapped blue cheese dates, nice litte bites with interplay of salty and sweet. The fruit and dressing on the greens was really good! Caribbean crepes and skirt steak dinner: Only had a bite of each, but they were flavorful and tasty. Veggies came cutely prepared in a bundle around with a ring of squash or cucumber. Jerk chicken dinner: Not too spicy, but loved the eclectic spices on the chicken. The accompanied rice pilaf was tasty, had some nuts strewn about. Lamb tagine: Delicious, not gamey hunks of stewed lamb in a rich sauce. The huge pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top gave a nice crunch. Liked the prunes in the dish, but the apricots didn't seem like they were cooked in and didn't add anything. Tasty with some couscous as the carb. Carrot cake: One of my faves, so delicious with big shreds of carrot, raisins, and nuts in the cake. Cream cheese frosting sweet, but not sugary-fake tasting. Drinks: Sangria on special - $5! The red sangria was almost cocktail-like, had some other liqueurs like congnac and definitely had a good alcohol content! The white was a bit lighter, but still liquored up and tasty. Yet another hidden gem in downtown Santa Ana, Jason's Downtown is a surprising find with good food, atmosphere, and service. If anything, I just wish they were open more days of the week. I had been planning to meet up with a dear friend for dinner and we were in the mood for something different. After some research, I followed Amy K.'s recommendation (www.restaurant.com + www.opentable.com) and settled on Jason's. We were all surprised by the restaurant once we stepped inside. A nice bar and ample seating in a tastefully decorated location seemed to prepare us for a good meal. We started off with the trio of Mediterranean spreads: hummus, eggplant caponata, and goat cheese lebneh served with pita bread. I thought they were all flavorful spreads, but wished the pita bread stayed warmer. I had a tough time deciding on an entree as many of Jason's offerings tempted me. Coq au vin, Jamaican jerk chicken, Bastilla (Moroccan cornish game hen), shepherd's pie, skirt steak, Caribbean crepes, and lamb tagine, oh my! I settled on the Colorado rack of lamb (grilled and served with a Greek-style vinaigrette of extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, fresh herbs, and capers) with sides of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed green and yellow wax string beans, and caramelized baby carrots. Sounds pretty good, eh? In short, my lamb was cooked to perfection. The mash, beans, and carrots were good, but the lamb just really stood out. In fact, I didn't even feel bad for eating a baby sheep. Hmmm...food good enough to rid me of my conscience, albeit briefly? Sweet! Overall, I think we had a pleasurable dining experience at Jason's. In these tough economic times, a quick visit to www.restaurant.com is well worth it. Otherwise, Jason's could put a noticeable dent in one's wallet/purse. However, I think this place is worth it. The team at Jason's is absolutely amazing. We chose them for our wedding at the Nixon Library and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. Every detail of the wedding from the food to the drinks to the linens was perfect because of Jason's. We also decided to do our dessert through Jason's and they did such an amazing job. Adriana makes you feel so relaxed and so taken care of on the day of the wedding. Right after we exited the ceremony, the staff had drinks waiting for us and the bridal party so we could do a toast. Adriana brought our food to us right at the beginning of the reception. Adriana was an absolute blast to work with us as she is so warm, engaging and so good at her job. After working the Yelp Table at Memphis and helping to herd a gaggle of somewhat inebriated yelpers around the area that is Downtown Santa Ana, we decided to make Jason's the last stop of the night. End on a high note, so to speak. After stumbling into the patio, and being a little louder than what was required, we slipped into chairs at the bar. After some friendly conversation with the bartender, Chef Jason himself appeared and we were engrossed. He was showing us different spirits, some new drinks he concocted, and everyone was very impressed with his demeanor and attitude especially towards a bunch of yelpers who had transversed the entire pub-crawl. "But Robert, what about the restaurant? I don't care about some freaking pub crawl" Well, alas we didn't have a chance to sample any entrees, but the appetizers were superb - home made potstickers, excellent beef-on-a-stick, and a teriyaki/mirin/spicy/sweet asian style beef sampler that made everyone swoon, much like the couple that was sitting in attendance to the jazz group that was playing when we made our arrival. Suffice to say, if the appetizers were that good, the entree's must be superb. However, that'll have to be an updated review. As for the location itself, the restaurant is very tastefully decorated. Plenty of space in the main dining area, however the decore and fixtures give it a sort of homey feel. If I had to describe the restaurant in terms of design, it would have to be minimalist french fused with a high-rise lounge in NY. This works out well for it's location on 4th street, right across from the federal building. Again, I can only speak to so much about this establishment in terms of first hand experience, but the openness to our group and the hospitality that was extended definitely made all of us wish to return. read more

Just had our wedding and reception this month at the Nixon library... and I must say, Jason's catered events especially Adriana was simply the best. They were one of the approved caterers of the venue and we are so glad with our decision. We did not have any problems from food tasting, venue planning, final walk through to the actual wedding day... everything was seamless. The staff including bartenders were just professional. Everything they served from the hors d'oeuvres, drinks, to the entire dinner was delicious. We had our own dessert bar but I rented all the servers (cake stand, etc.) from Jason's catering and it turned out just the way I wanted. Some of our guests actually got their information for their events as well. I will definitely recommend Jason's catered events for all your catering needs. read more

My husband and I got married this past January 14 at the Richard Nixon Library. We love food so much and have been to so many weddings where we were truly disappointed by the food. Having said that, having to use the venue's preferred vendors made me a little nervous initially. But now I am so happy we went with Jason's. Everything from the staff to the food was incredible. Adriana was so awesome and helpful in every way. She was so patient with all of my millions of questions throughout the process and gave us some great advice. The food was spectacular. We received so many compliments from our guests stating the food was the best they'd ever had at a wedding and I couldn't agree more, it was phenomenal! If you want absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious food at your wedding, stop looking and hire Jason. I attended a wedding in the summer that Jason catered and it was the absolute hands-down best food I'd ever had at a wedding... saying "best food at a wedding" doesn't do it justice because typically wedding food is so horrific that the bar for "wedding food" is incredibly low. So Jason's Catering shouldn't even be in the "wedding food" category. It's just plain good food. The wedding I attended served fried chicken and they had a mashed potato bar. There was other food too, but all I can remember is the perfectly cooked friend chicken. Crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. And the mashed potato bar was heaven. So I hired Jason for my wedding. We did 3 buffet stations: exhibition style station where they were flambeing shrimp, a filet mignon station with a mashed potato bar, and a pasta station. Almost every guest I talked to RAVED about the food and how it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. Unfortunately I was running around so much that I didn't get a chance to eat any of it! Jason provided a concierge that kept bringing me plates of food, but then I'd get pulled away before I had a chance to take a bite. That's my biggest regret of my wedding! However, I trust the reviews of my guests. Some of them are real foodies and they kept going on and on about how good the food was, especially the filet. In addition, the wait staff was attentive and professional. Jason ran the kitchen flawlessly. We had no logistical problems, everything was like clockwork. What a delightful establishment. Prior to saying anything about anything, I have to say this: The sinks in the bathrooms are the coolest things ever. That said, our Yelper five-some finished a Saturday evening pub crawl at Jason's. The last bar on our list, we were at our leisure to pretty much do whatever we wanted for however long. Our arrival was trumpeted. Literally. A jazz quintet was playing live music. I was immediately provided a very positive first impression. We arrived around 10:30-11:00 or so, so the place was pretty quiet. Bartender (Michael, I believe) was very frendly and knowledgable, helping us out with a particular snafu experienced at a previous bar. Michael was also nice enough to keep the water flowing. Shortly after we arrived, the owner of the restaurant (guess his name...) came out to socialize. Jason was very friendly and extremely knowledgable about his profession, and was eager to share a story or three. After some fairly simple prodding, I partook in a signature drink creation of which I do not remember the name - I'll have to have someone jog my memory on this. It involved caramel, which is always wins. We also dined on a trio of appetizers, each one better than the next. The kalbi skewers were my favorite of the three, and were so excellent that I grabbed a brochure for a possible catering event. I would not have expected to find such fine dining in downtown Santa Ana. I would recommend Jason's to anyone looking for upscale fusion dining in the area. I would also recommend Jason's to anyone looking for a really, really cool bathroom faucet. This was our last stop for the Santa Ana Pub Crawl and it was the culmination of a fun drunken night. It was getting late as we walked in and the place was pretty empty but there was a band playing and it put me in a good mood. The space was beautifully decorated and sophisticated and classic. We sat down at the bar and was greeted by the friendly bartender. We got a pitcher of beer and it was yummy. But then we met Jason, the owner. He was very friendly and personable and stayed to talk to us until we left. He showed and gave us little trinkets that he hangs off of drinks and poured drinks for us to pass around and taste. We also got some of his appetizers and they were certainly quite yummy. We'll just have to come back for the full meal but it was a great end to a ... drunken night. Jason's Downtown is located in a part of Santa Ana that has a few of my favorite restaurants within walking distance. It's definitely stiff competition to hold up to, but Jason's does a pretty good job. I like the patio outside, complete with twinkling lights and what I imagine would be a great place to relax and unwind after a long day of work with good friends. Inside the decor is modern-spanish-y. I like how they decorated the warehouse-ish building with mellow and subtle adobe colors. With the live music that night and the great settings it was definitely up there on the romantic side. I had the 25 dollar cert from restaurant.com and the service was generous enough to allow us drinks to hit that 50 mark. Our waitress was fantastic! We ordered the skirt steak, which was flawlessly medium rare and came with a corn salsa thing that tasted great with the steak. It had a heavy, toasted cumin flavor and made a great balance. My date had the jerk chicken, which she loved but I think I my steak kicked her chicken's ass. Martini for me, funky monkey for her. It's a good banana martini I guess...if you like banana martini's. Over all a place I would consider coming to at night, to bring some friends, sit outside, and just kickback. read more

I just got married November 10th, 2018 at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library. The venue gives you two options to choose from as far as far as catering and beverage services go. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. First off, Adriana is the BEST from start to finish. She is incredibly helpful, responsive, and flexible when it comes to making sure that we were pleased with the decisions we made. They offer a wide variety of options, plated menu, and various beverage menus. The Music and Food were most important to us and in working with Jason's we knew we'd be getting the best quality and service out there. They were incredibly responsive and available throughout the planning process. Even up until the very end when I decided to make changes to linens, and the bar menu they were more than happy to meet our requests. There is a lot that goes into the "big day" so having someone like Adriana who was always two steps ahead made all the difference. The day of the wedding went off without a glitch!! They had 20 staff members on site to make sure our guests were well taken care of and everything was delivered on scheduled per the coordinators timeline. We went with a surf and turf plated option which was ABSOLUTELY delicious. Our guests are STILL talking about how good everything was from the cocktail hour to the dinner. We hosted an open bar which offered a variety of different options - bartenders were awesome! More importantly it was the little things - their staff made sure my husband and I had drinks the entire night. We opted not to join our cocktail hour to finish up photos and take a quick breather alone. They came to check on us in the bridal suite brought us our own plate of hors d'oeuvres and "his" and "hers" cocktails that were featured on our menu. SO thoughtful! After our grand entrance they brought another plate of each of the 5-6 hors d'oeuvres we selected for round two in case we needed additional snacks to hold us over (especially since the bride and groom don't really get a chance to sit and eat without any distractions!). One amazing final touch was they had "to go" plates wrapped up for my husband and I to take on our way - and we DEFINITELY ate them as soon as we got to the hotel. All in all they are WONDERFUL!
