Been about 6 months since I have been back this Jason's Deli even though it's only 1/4 mile from my house. The soda fountain had 2 drinks out of order, the water was broken on it, and had a sign to pour water out of gallon jugs. Me, my daughter, and my wife went today because we didn't want to go to The Woodlands location because of the expected traffic near the mall. After ordering I was going to go the salad bar to get dressing to dip my sandwich in and some crackers for my soup. When I heard who I assume was the manager ask if I paid for the salad bar. I told him no that was going to get some ranch dressing and crackers for my soup. He said he would get me some ranch from behind the counter. The salad bar was only for people who paid for it rather rudely! Soup was cold, tea was rancid. Maybe he should spend less time worrying about someone getting a cracker and more time fixing the soda machine, making fresh tea, and not being rude! The rest of time we were eating it felt like he was staring at us. Every time we got up he was watching every move we made. Find something to do! I haven't been back to that restaurant in more than 6 months because it was dirty, not taken care of, and poorly managed. Nothing has changed since I was there 6 months ago. After a couple visits to this location of Jason's Deli, I have grown to somewhat like it. It is relatively cheap and something good to eat that is quick other than greasy fast food. First let me say that the 1 star is not for anything bad per se. My daughter asked to go there to get soup and a sandwich. I used to go here for lunch when I was at work, but up north of here. I was really looking forward to the all you can eat salad bar. My daughter got her sandwich and soup and was very pleased. It was a simple grilled cheese and chicken pot pie soup. She loved it all. The staff was great, and it was nice and quiet inside for dinner. Here is my issue, as you can see I mentioned the all you can eat salad bar earlier. That is not an option any longer. It is a one and done trip. The usual excuse was explained as is it went away when cOvid came, but that is not a headliner anymore and quite frankly you still have a salad bar where one can go up and choose what they want in there one bowl of salad. I am going to call BS on this as there is still a full salad bar, and with as few people as there are in the summer, there is a lot more waste causing more loss of profit (minimally). There is also a balance of what one eats on average vs a big eater. It is still a profit maker or they would not have it still. I like Jason's, but there are times I just don't want to eat a salt laden sandwich loaded with nitrates from deli. There are times I have no issue with it. It's still hot out and I wanted a salad today and damn it, I am not happy with the price vs the trip numbers. Sorry you are going to have that waste from the salad bar sitting there untouched. Yes I am whining, and I am butt hurt that I can't get my all you can eat salad. I am not sure if this is a local thing or a Jason's thing. But I really have no reason to go back now. I used to come here about once per week with a family of 5. Then one day, we ordered a "small drink" as always, and the person behind the register asked "who is it for?". He proceeded to tell us if it wasn't for a child, we had to pay for the medium. That was about 90 days ago and we haven't been back in since. Our average bill would run about $60. Been here a few times at this location. The food is always very fresh and the salad bar is phenomenal. The manager goes above and beyond to make you feel not only at home but so welcome that you feel like you've been coming here for years. I love the tomato soup and the grilled cheese it's one of my absolute favorites. The night we came in they had a special of lobster bisque. I wanted to try it really bad. We always have great food and great service at this location, but this review is for the manager. Our daughter wrapped her retainers up in a napkin when we had lunch and forgot about them. We were headed home when she remembered them. They are $450 to replace so we turned around and went back. The table had already been cleaned, so the manager laid out a large piece of cardboard on the kitchen floor and got down on his knees and went through the trash piece by piece until he found both retainers. I eat primarily in Waco, but this unit is 1/2 the size and can not achieve Jason's quality.They have never had a functioning ice cream machine. Tonight was the end. I ordered beef stew. I was served a bowl of thin liquid soup with 1.5 pieces of beef, two pieces of potato and primarily carrots. This was at 6, dinner time. Quality of food is very poor. The prices are just to high for the quality. They don't cook anything at the local deli everything is cooked in a corporate kitchen and trucked in. My corned beef sandwich lacked any flavor all I could taste was salt and mustard. The soup I had tasted like a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup that they just added way to much cumin spice to.
